  1. Ok, so Laia is riding for Scorpa or Beta! All makes sense now!

    Tank Cover

Shercool is on the button, get that water pump protected. I got a small plate welded on to the bash plate but you could use many other ways. The beta coil cover is used by many riders so it must work. I too used to burn my leg until I bought a guard for the exhaust, you could make one of these with ease though. I don't think you'll need to protect the tank unless you're really unlucky. There's not much else you need to do really, just ride!

    Fork Seals.

OK, job done. Here we go: All though the two stanchions are different the procedure is the same. Remove the dust seal and slide away from the leg. Then undo the top of the leg and drain the oil. The main oil seal is held in place by the collar located at the top of the cast stanchion, the collar has 'Paoili' written on it. This should be hand tight but on one of my legs it was a bit stiff. I used a Stilson wrench to break it then a strap wrench until it became hand tight. Remove the collar. Moving to the bottom of the fork, remove the bolt at the bottom. The sliding tube is now free to be removed. Pull it hard against the seal. This will tap the seal out. At first it seems like the tube is locked in, it

    Fork Seals.

After over three years of use including this years SSDT my fork seals have finally had it! I've not changed them on SY (its an '03 by the way) forks so if anyone can offer some advice it would be appreciated. I've got manual but its for an earlier version of the forks so I'm not sure if its still the same infomation. How much oil should I be putting in for example? Thanks!
  7. If Kev says this is quite normal then my bike must be knackered! I bought it new three years ago and have never had trouble starting it except at the SSDT. I suspect the fuel at the SSDT was to blame, apparently it is mixed at 50:1? Anyway, choke on and two kicks, maybe three. Thats it! Can't understand why its doing what its doing though, strange one that.
  8. I suspect its stolen. The seller has zero feedback and thats not good.

    04 Scorpa Clutch

I believe there's a PDF parts diagram on the Scorpa web site. I don't think its to great though. If you can't find it I can email a copy.
  10. I doubt they'll fit the rim tape! The point I was saying was that the wheels will need striping, who does it is immaterial, no need for the smarta*** answer!
  11. What ever you do you'll need to strip the wheels to just the rim, this means removing the spokes. To do this you'll need to mess around with the rim tape ans fit a new one.
  12. I guess there will be two main points of view with this, those in favour of a pay per event type licence (ACU) and pay per year type (SACU). Depending on how often you ride then one of the systems will benefit. My personal view is that is should be made as fair as possible to all. How many people think the road tax system is fair? How many believe that the tax should be abolished and placed on the fuel? To me this is a simliar argument. IMHO, the fair way to tackle the problem is to charge per event. In the same way that I believe the motorists that do the most mileage should contribute the most to the government, my view is that the riders that ride the most trials should contribute the most. What might not be feasable though is the ability to charge the same rates as the ACU should the SACU take up the same system. It may have to be a higher amount per rider due to the fewer amount of trials riders taking part in SACU events. Does this make the SACU system as it is a better system? Who knows? I suspect the SACU charge the way they do because they believe it is the most efficient way to generate the income that is essential to trials/bike sport in Scotland.
  13. The guy says it won't start, has it been fitted with a Sherco 4T engine?
  14. Got a few emails from folk about various stuff, one thing they are asking is why I've been inactive on TC? Well, the truth is I've had enough of it.... And I've also got married, been on honeymoon and divorced the computer (until I can find time to sit back in front of it!) However, I shall be back!!

    Sy 250 Question

6 months old? Send it back under warranty, he should get 6 months from the dealer.
  16. I used the standard 10 front and 38 rear at this years SSDT and it worked fine. Plenty of speed where needed, i.e. on the road! On a differant note, you might get a better response asking this question in the Scorpa Forum.
  17. There has been quite a lot of changes since 2001. Not withstanding the 'bold new graphics', the 02's had new forks fitted, 03's had a new swinging arm. There's also been various tweeks to the exhuast both in performance and materials used. Essentially the engine is the same but then tell me a manufacturer that makes changes to them. Its a great bike and it'll do anything that you can ride. They are realiable and that Yam engine won't let you down. Only problem is that some aspects of the maintence is awkard due to the location of the parts. For example, you need to remove the subframe to get the carb out etc. Don't let that put you off though, I've only needed to take it out twice in 3 years.
  18. I've got some more, I'll upload later. I've got Fuji, Cabestany and Freixa. There's some others too but I can't remember who. Don't those Monts sound the business though? Windows Media Player 10 works fine with me too by the way.
  19. Took some video of Dougie on Section 7 (TC Section) with the digital camera. the quality is not great but you'll get a feel for the steepness of the hill. Check out the noise of the Monts too!! Clips here!
  20. Hughesy's a Junior Kickstart man!!
