Thanks for the reply, the plug I use is a NGK IR CR6EIA9 , which I was told was the IR equivalent of the standard plug.
Already put the original overflow pipe back on to monitor at the Trial on Monday.
I am mechanically sympathetic ( being a mature 57 year old rider ) and will always leave it ticking over whilst I get my gear on, so it's running for 3or 4 minutes before it's ridden off. I'm not a throttle blipper , as 4 strokes don't need it like a 2 stroke does to clear its throat.
Probably need to give it a good thrashing over the Lakeland Fells on Monday rather than mothering it !!!!!!

I've got a 2015 Montesa 4rt that I bought new , it's been maintained above and beyond, but I've recently been suffering from what appears to be a rich mixture. I replaced the plug four events ago for an NGK iridium one which has become sooty, as did the last one.
It also smells rich when it's on tick over and uses more fuel than other riders that I ride with that have similar bikes.
The bike rides and performs well and I assumed with fuel injection that there would be no mixture issues.
The air filter is a TwinAir and it's cleaned after each event
It also seemed to boil the fuel, for want of a better phrase, at last weekends event.
The bike still ran fine but I opened the fuel filler to check and it was ariated and bubbled out of the tank then settled down. I checked the breather, not original, the small cap with ball bearing inside type, it appeared fine.
Ran it for another half hour or so checked it again and the fuel bubbled out the cap as I unscrewed it under quite a bit of pressure.
Open to sensible suggestions of how to cure. Both issues do not affect the running of the bike.
Thanks guys.

You've chosen well in my opinion, good luck, it's a great sport, enjoy it.
-
It'll be worth every minute you've invested in her the moment she fires up and you take her for that first spin.
Good luck model80.
Theyre a great bike.

Sorry Lorenzo, had messages before I'll check the settings.!!!!!!!

Thanks lads told him to give it a miss.

340bultaco,
Im after a stand for my 340 but can't find one, I spoke to old codger at Telford and he asked me to ring him a few weeks later which I did but he's struggling to find one to use as a template.
please let me know if you locate some, I'm sick of having to lay her down at events.
Dave.

Out of my area of expertise, but a friend of mine is thinking of buying this bike, it's got a Triumph tank on it with what he thinks is a BSA C15 engine but the sellers not sure what to class it as.
He asked me knowing I have trials bikes but my knowledge is Spanish Twin shocks so I said I'd ask on his behalf.
Can anyone help him out.
Thanks lads.

Thanks everyone, question answered.
-
Bet you didn't know they're Montesa dealers as well now, take that plastic card with you Dave, you know you'll want one.
Enjoy your day.

This may seem a silly question to you engineering and welding 'bods' out there, but I'm trying to minimise work and potential damage.
I usually have the footpegs changed when the bikes in bits , but this time I'm short of time and I'm going to take the complete bike in to have the later wider pegs welded on.
The question is, do I need to take the stator plate and coil off to prevent damage to the electrical circuit during the welding process , may be different if I had electronic ignition, but this is coil and points.
Thanks guys.

Very nice, clearly a gifted fabricator.
Ill keep my original, opened it up last night and the packing had clearly left the box many years ago, not even a trace of it just lots of carbon deposits.
-
Is the 340 front pipe unique to this model, or is it the same as other 350 models.
The one on my 340 is serviceable but has some dents , I know you can get these out but I'd rather put the money towards a replacement than renovate what I have.
Thanks.

Apologies everyone had trouble putting this on.
I know this topic has been covered before and I've searched all the site to try and recover it to no avail, hence asking the question.
I do recall the last topic being listed as trying to find the last bike produced, or similar wording.

My 199b's frame number ends in 4661.
The Bultaco site for model identification shows 199,012,876 to 199,014,653 as start and finish numbers.
That puts mine out of their parameters.
Any ideas guys.
-
Thought that Nigel, sent you a message with the frame number you were asking about.

I also have a 198a (250) that has electronic ignition and a Mikuni fitted which is really crisp on the throttle and after riding my new 199b (albeit not for long) there's wasn't an earth shattering difference. Possibly when I get it run in and get an Oko fitted it may change. It was running very rich on the Bing.
Smelling 123, did your Oko come already jetted or did you have to make your own adjustments? Was it from an EBay source?
Thanks all for your continued assistance.
Dave.
-
Thanks for all the replies and advice.
Woody, thanks re clutch, I would have done the crankcase adjustment but believe it or not , the limited tool kit I take with me hadn't got an open ended socket wide enough to get the driver through and the car park was empty as we'd only just started the trial, few lessons learnt this weekend.
Does anyone know if there will be an OKO carb supplier distributed at Telford to speak to ????
Dave.

If you've seen this already in my previous posts I apologise, but didn't want to have it overlooked.
It came as a spare with the bike I've just bought that was owned previously by an Engineer, the bracket looks to be a home fabrication. Just curious if having a hard rubber bush between the two plates would not compromise what it was trying to achieve.
As the original and aftermarket triangular ones are rigid.
-
Dabster,
Frame number is 4661.
Got some bits with the bike and going through the box today I found a different slant on the top engine frame mount , this has a rubber bush inserted, clearly of home manufacture by the previous owner who was an Engineer. Not being an Engineer, I would have thought the idea of this brace whether it be fork or triangle was to be rigid???? !!!!!!!!!

Smelling 123,
Hi, hope you had a good ride at Warmden.
Had to leave after section 3 the clutch was slipping so much the kick start wouldn't engage, messed around with lever adjustment but not helped, it's not been set correctly after the rebuild I'd suggest.
Thats what comes of rushing to try out your new pride and joy, everything else was fine even the 12/46 gearing, well on the three sections I got to ride it was fine.
Also not got a stand yet and it's painful trying to find something to lean it on at every section ????
Need to read the posts on the Bing carb (new one to me) as it's running far to rich.
-
I am, see you there.
Its only going to be the second event I've done with Red Rose but the last one I rode in was excellent at Copy Pit.
Think it'll be thermals on tomorrow.
-
Nigel,it's running 12/46.
No time to change it, riding Sunday, see how it goes.
i bought it and I'm away till late Sat night so it'll have to stay like that for this outing.
Ill check frame number to see how late it is, think V5 said 1984.
