      Hi Chappo,

Well the Bultaco top yoke has arrived today the quality stands out, I am eager to fit it asap!

Thank you for letting me know they were available as without your message I do not think I would have seem them for sale.

By the way does your bike have the original ball bearings in the headstock or the inmotion taper conversion?

      Taper conversion, miles better.

  2. Thanks for all the help guys , had a 'tweek' yesterday and she's running nice and clean at two turns out with the Jitsie FUEL screw. What also didn't help during all this was that she was running hot due to a poor electrical connection that was causing the fan to run at half speed. The connection was one of the many above the top of the carb shock absorber area, only noticed it when I cleaned the air filter. ( noticed the slow running fan when cleaning her off after the trial ).
  3. Hoodie 2, i'll send you a message with the dealers details.
  4. Sorry guys just read some previous threads, some say it's wound in less fuel, some say wound in more fuel, which way is it??
  5. Trapezeartist, ran it today at a trial and had no backfire.............. But, it ran very rich, black smoke when I reved it waiting in sections. Concerned the profile of the jet may not be the same as the original jet as its wound out the same 3 1/2 turns as the original. Found it harder to start today than before, I'll keep on tweeking it and let everyone know the outcome.............keep your feet up guys.
  6. 4stroke.........as I said, not a problem, but the replacement fuel screw caused the tickover to alter. I had to increase it. Think heffergm may have the answer, tip profiles. It runs as it did before , just required the tickover turning up. Heffergm, took me an hour to swap it over, I'm not taking that rascal out again unless I have to ?.
  7. Just fitted a Jitsie knurled wheel air mixture screw to my 2016 Beta Evo 4t to make adjustments easier. ( Not an easy change, very fiddly ). Counted the old air screw as three out from fully wound in, did the exchange, putting the o ring and spring from the old jet on the Jitsie, wound it in, backed it off three turns, put it all back together. Fired up ok , but wouldn't tick over, I had to readjust the tick over, now runs just the same as before ............bit bemused, any ideas guys or anyone fitted a Jitsie with the same issue. Got to say the Jitsie product is well made, I'm not saying it's that that's faulty. Thanks.

    Gone 4 stroke

I'm sure it will and the 10 after that, if you change the oil and filters frequently.
  9. Tried it at a Trial and found it to be a big improvement. Recommend it.

    Old Bultaco

Two person job, one to support the barrel and one to compress the ring, never had a problem.
  11. Nzralphy, Try to derscribe it as per a clock face. If closed is at 12, then the original Beta fast action throttle opened to 9. The Amal goes from 12 to 7, doesn't seem a lot but it makes a big difference. You can still wind the throttle to fully open without having to rotate your hand, i.e. Move it further round the throttle to achieve full throttle which you have to on some slow action throttles. Not used it in a trial yet, that's on Monday. ?
  12. Got it , fitted it, easy job as you said timdog . Really nice feel to it and less aggressive than the original.
  13. Thanks Timdog, that was the answer I was looking for. i actually have an Amal 80/200 sat on my 340 Sherpa in the garage,I'll swap it till I can get one ordered , thanks a lot. Ill order a 10 front sprocket as well as that seems to be the gearing of choice with owners, the 9 does make 1 very slow. Cheers everyone.
  14. Thanks guys. geniejlg, at 57 I have to be happy with my lot, moving up a class is a big leap but hell I enjoy every event. ?????
  15. Everyone that I seem to meet advises me to change the standard Domino throttle on the bike saying it's fast action, which I agree is correct. The only substitute I've been offered is the same brand but a plastic one from a two stroke model. I accept that this willl work fine, but it's so flimsy, with a push on top, no screw to secure it. I do spend a fair bit of time picking it up off the ground and just think a tip off onto a rock and the throttle housing will just pop open and I'll spend half an hour trying to recover the bits. ( I know your dying to say , become a better rider and don't fall off, I'm working on it believe me ). The question, I'd like to keep the metal throttle housing and there are several metal slow action tubes in the market for sale, ( Apico is one of them, I'm sure there's more ), has anyone put one of these into the original ,rather than swapping for the plastic version. Amal also do a metal throttle assembly, anyone tried one of these. What gearing are people using on these, just been advised to change the original front from 11 to 9, which I've done, (42) on the back, makes it very slow in first and second. Anyone using 10/42 ? Just come off a Montesa 4RT, whole new ball game.
  16. I put some in my 199b a couple of months ago, they were from the InMotion boys, ( superb postal service ). Fiting is easy, but do check and re torque after the first event they may need nipping up as they settle in. They give a lot smoother action, as you would expect.
  17. Have drained it all again . Opened both screen filters and cleaned. Changed oil filter then filled to half window. Ran her till warm and topped up to half window. It actually took just under 700cc. So no idea why Beta say 900cc in the manual , as it's way to much.
  18. Thanks lineaway, I did, going to drain it again and fill using the window as a fill point rather than specific quantity.
  19. Just swapped my Montesa 4RT for a Beta 300 4 T. So a bit new to this model having only had 2stroke Betas before. I followed the downloaded manuals advice re oil and filter change, but on putting the prescribed 900 MLS back in , the oil window is full , as opposed to half full as the manual suggests. I accept there will be a residual value of oil left in the sump after draining but I don't want to cause damage by over filling, anyone experienced the same or has advice on filling. Many thanks guys.
  20. Just looking to buy a Fantic 247, I have owned one in the past. But it was a long time ago. Bit of nostalgia. Can you still get pistons for these models. The seller has been honest with me and said there was some piston 'slap'. Any other things to look out for guys.

    199a Front Brake

I have a 199b and have recently fitted the VS fibrous , woven ,( smelly )brake shoes to front and rear. The rear is great but I can't get the front to work past about 50% effectiveness. The front hub even looks to have a steel liner in it, not the old chrome type. People talk about having the shoes matched to the drum, how is that done please??

    199a Front Brake

Don't forget to spin the wheel, lock it up and keep the pressure on the brake lever, ( snap tie ), this will centre the shoes in the hub and then tighten up the spindle and pinch bolts. Hope this helps.
  23. I do hope they go back to black and red for 2018, I'd love the normal 260 to be looking like the 300RR. Here's hoping ???.
  24. Is it a Gas Gas. I had one in 2013 and there was always small metal traces on the magnetic sump plug when changing the oil.
