As you may all ready know from my other post in this section, i am looking to buy a small van that will accomodate a trials bike (06 Sherco 290). But it is one to use as a car as i dont need it for work. Therfore it needs to be reasonably nippy. I have ruled out the 75PS Connects as they are very slow, but i need to have a go in the 90PS to see what that performs like.
Which vans do you lot use that are pretty nippy? I have up to

Bit of a random question, but does anyone know the total length of a Sherco 290 (back of rear tyre to front of front tyre). I can only see wheel base measurements on the internet.
Also the lengths of Gasgas and Scorpa's would be appreciated

I have been away from trials for the last 2 years (ish) but I am now going to be buying another bike soon but would like to sort some transport out first.
I am looking to buy a small van, ideally would be the Ford Connect LWB.
My question is, what small vans do you guys use to carry trials bikes? I don

thanks. I will look into it more

I have not been on this forum in ages, mainly due to the fact that i hardly use either my sherco or my road bike. I have therefore decided to put my road bike up for sale and try to use the sherco more.
I got the sherco out tonight to give it a mini service before a ride hopefully this sunday, and i found that the engine was coverd in fresh oil. Upon investigation i found that the fuel tap surround is the culprit. It has been snapped of by the previous owner, and then cheaply fixed with some kind of resin. This is now dripping again so i think a new tank is on the cards. Its not dripping much as there is still a quater of petrol/oil in the tank, and it has been stood for about 2 months
Basically where do i get a tank and how much. the bike is an 03 2.9 and i would prefer a second hand tank aslong as its in atleast fair condition
Thanks for looking

I havent been on the forum for a while, but when i had a tapping on my 290 it was when the water pump shaft had gone. Sounded like a noisey diesel car. only did it in the higher gears when going fast(ish). Check your coolant level aswell. The tapping is basically the engine overheating. Hope this helps, let us know who you get on

I only bought 2 issues on TW, and was about to subscribe when i found out it went balls up. Ohh well
On the part about TC subscription. I am registered on www.SV650.org, a forum for my road bike. which is more or less the same as this website, a good helpfull community. They regularly have get togethers, partys, camping, trackdays and rideouts throughout the year. When they had money troubles they just asked people to donate through paypal, and in return they had 'site sponsor' put above their name. Just look through the posts, nearly every one is a site sponsor now. I think you can donate any amount of money. So that caters for the richer and the poorer.
I like the idea of stickers. I would pay

Iv noticed know one has replyd yet, so ill stick my ore in.
Im no mechanic, and dont even know what the said van is. But on the headlight lamps i have changed in the past, the lamp and its holder just pull straight out,of the back. There may be a retaining clip to undo. I think it is very rare for the whold headlight to need removing.
Doubt this helps, but its the thought that counts

Just a note, You need to be 16 or younger to rent a bike. The only Trials bikes they have are the Scorpa TY-s125f

This is my first trials bike, and was just wondering at what point to change the front/rear tyre? The nobbles are now slightly rounded. I know what some of the answers are going to be... when it starts slipping/ loosing grip. But i am new to trials and it is muddy, so it slips all the time!
from looking at the tyre, how can i tell if it is time to change?
Thanks

Thanks.
The bike seems better now. Not 100% perfect but a hell of a lot closer to it.
I never said the seals wont leak. Just at the minute there now, i'll have to wait and see how they cope on their first hard landing.

What year is that last bike 90Kg is pretty light for how old it looks.
are all the trials bikes from that era under 100Kg? I was expecting them all to be well over 100Kg!
By the way. Im not into classics at all, but i did enjoy reading this page
Thanks

Both seals are in now, and the bike is rebuilt.
But, the first 2" of travel seems 'tight'. For example, if i walk along side the bike and sharply pull the front brake, instead of the front suspension going down a little, it just stays solid. But the second time i try it it will probably be as normal, the next time could be hard again etc. etc...
Once you get past the first 1"-2" the travel feels normal
Do new seals take time to bed in? Is 330ml the correct amount of 5wt oil? Is there any special way to use the blue air bleeder caps (suspension compressed?)?
Any other ideas of what else has gone wrong?
thanks for looking
