    Log Out?

Actuall I have no (Log In) function either. I have to hit reply to a topic then a screen comes up with a log in box. There is a scrolling advertisement over half of the control functions on the upper right side of the web page just below the trials central logo.

    New Frame?

2008 Beta.... No more 2 strokes is what I heard as of this past weekend. New 08 Beta; new frame, new plastics, new bike, HRC powered. This may also be just rumor..... Aaron
  6. Im doing my best to make it Jim. See you and all the boys Sunday hopefully. Aaron
  7. Golfracing, Im not sure if you are aware of this but Beta USA is now in Georgia. Pretty good source for Beta parts, even Technos. Give them a call. Aaron
  8. I think The Dabster is spot on. The Indoor rules are a bit different. Correct me if Im wrong though, you can stop with no penalty in balance or on the skid plate. That in how they wanted us to check the world round in the US. Also how the nationals and local events are checked. We went away from the Stop With Penalty Rule 2 or 3 years back. Aaron
  9. Our club just had their yearly rules meeting. Just a little informal get together. We try to make sure we are caught up with NATC and FIM rules. One of the questions asked was as follows. When a rider is stuck on an obstacle, sitting on the skidpan but no footing, should points be given for piviting his feet on the pegs and pushing with his toes to free himself. We looked at all the rules and there is no where that would make that legal yet if you watch any trial from the world level down to the local level it is common practice with no penalty. The rules clearly say that the only legal contact points are skidpan and tirers. Is there something we are missing. I have watched this at the world rounds and nationals go to protest and the rider wins. Something in reguards to his foot never left the peg. On the indoor events it is as common as using the clutch. Just wondering what some others take on this might be?? Aaron
  10. I have replaced 3 housings on 03 REVs. All were waranteed. Have heard a few different theories but the one thing I noticed was these bikes had green antifreeze from the automotive world in them. That is not what the manufacture puts in them. I only run a product called engine ice in mine. Something about the high silica base in the automotive antifreeze reacts with the Magnesium case. I may be completly off on this also. Just relating my experience. Aaron
  11. Thanks, I taught her that. Until she finally did it I was beginning to think only my Beta would go up there. That girl aint afraid of nothing. Aaron
  12. I have had a 4rt for tempory purposes while waiting for my new Beta. I like the bike better than I would have though. Well built high quality piece. Much like the Beta. This has given me the chance to compare the 05 Beta with the 05 Monty side by side on my home turf. For the most part I got along well with the bike. It was fun to ride and makes lots of wonderfull exhaust noise. It took me a while to zap the same size obstacle with the Monty compared to the Beta. The Monty likes to smack the front tire hard to get the same height. The Monty could use a little more turn lock for my taste. It caused me a few problems the Beta didnt. My biggest complaint with the bike and this was experienced by all 3 of us doing the comparison was its downhill front braking on slippery surfaces. The front brake is easy to lock up but does not always stop you. I tried everything I could and it would not stop on the slippery downhill like the Beta. The Beta stops where you want it too while the Monty under the same conditions stopped a foot later. This caused me all sorts of problems in one of our test sections. We could not between the 3 of us overcome this problem. As far as traction goes, every time I thought the Monty was better I went right to the Beta and was always able to do it with the Beta. In one case I got the Beta to go where the Monty didnt want to. The section came out of a slippery creek bed to a platform about a bike length and a half right into a 30 inch undercut step then up about 15 feet of very slippery and steep hill. I always got their on the Beta but was hit and miss getting up the hill at the end on the Monty. The Monty has quite good power but the power runs out much quicker than the Beta on the top end. Makes longer hill climbs a bit different. You are forced to ride the bike instead of the point and shoot approach. The last thing I really had a problem with was the splatter. I have a 5 foot high splatter in the back yard. With the Beta I dont even think about it. Wind her up in 3rd and drop the clutch and go. No problems. With the Monty I never felt confident enough to do it. Thats not saying it wont but it does things like that differently. Like the zap it takes more rider effort. Might have something to do with it not being my bike but that usually wont stop me. All in all if I couldnt have the Beta I would consider the Monty if it were the same price. There is no way in my opinion it is worth the extra money and I have yet to see where it is better. I know I dont have a years worth of experience but I have been pretty fair with the comparisons. I also understand that I have been on the Betas since the Rev arrived in 00 so my comfort level is quite good with them. The last thing I would add though, if I had tons of money I would have one to go along with my Beta just for the fun of it. I always found myself wanting to ride the Monty again even if I was not getting the results I was getting on the Beta. Just my 2, Aaron

    Bar Width

I always run my bars at 32 inches. Some people ride my bike and like it better other people hate the feeling. Its a personal thing. I wouldnt cut mine any smaller though. Aaron
  14. This is not a wise crack in any way but I cant help but think that if some folks would just put their bikes in second gear and use the clutch their lives would be much easier. A lot less expensive in bike mods. I have been on Betas since the Revs were introduced. The only modification they need is a fast throttle and a float adjustment. My 05 was the best bike ever. Rode the season basically in second gear. Slow twisty sections to fairly big hillclimbs. Thats in Expert class. 2 strokes and clutches go hand in hand. To ride well you will find you rely on the clutch lever more than the throttle. Just my opinion. Aaron

    05 Beta Feedback

I have had 6 and am going for #7. Had a stator fail on my 02 and 03. The 03 was after I got rid of it so actually I am 1 for 6 right now. My 02 was taken care of under warranty and I believe my 03 was taken care of or at least given a great deal to the new owner. On top of them being a top notch bike, one of the reasons I keep coming back is the top notch support of BETA USA. Ron Sr. and Jr. have made it hard for me to shop any where else. By the way, the 05 is a perfect bike. I cant think of anything I didnt like about it. Aaron

    Footrest Mod ?

I did my TY175. Had to make new mounting points to put the pegs on. I just took the measurements off my 03Rev and duplicated them as close as possible. On our homebuilt bike we built a frame to accept a TY 250 motor but coppied the Beta Geometry as close as possible. Peg mounting is very important to achieve a more modern bike feel and they work better. If you are not going to extend the swing arm at all then you have to compromise on how far the pegs can go back before it becomes a full time rear wheel bike.
  18. Carl was not at the meeting last year.... My question is not about who did what but more about an honest account of what happened and how things came about. All I was interested in is both sides of the story.
  19. I have been assured by Brian that there was no arm twisting. Furthermore, I am told there was no representation from our side that was against the national. I also have that confirmed from another source that was in attendance. One person from our club is a so called diplomat and the other was our last national organizer who happened to get us the last national that we did not want.
  20. Just wondering if any of you that were there could help with a little info? Even though the people that were there from our club were not chosen by the club, they decided to represent us against our wishes. A vote was taken prior to the meeting over doing a national and was decided no nationl for this season. Well, somehow we are now on the schedual. The 2 from our club that were there insist they were pressured at the meeting to do so even after explaining that our club had voted against a national. Just looking for some outside views from anyone that was there. Thank You...

    Exhaust Rubbing

If this is something that just started happening than most likely you have bent the right rear subframe a bit. If you look at the bike from the rear and the fender is not sitting dead center over the tire the subfram is bent. This is not a big deal to fix. Remove fender, remove bolts in air box, remove muffler bolts. In most cases the upper frame bolt can stay. Give a bend up and refit airbox till it centers. With everything back together you should be able to sit on your bike with your fingers between your exhaust and rear tire and bounce up and down. It will be a tight fit but possible. Aaron
  22. Understood. Just met that here he is now riding the same bikes as the big boys.
  23. Lets not forget Ron Como III. Im not sure if he is even 14 yet but on a 270 now and heading for Europe. Oh ya, riding Beta of coarse.
  24. Cool stuff Ringo. I just dont get the Al part. Aaron
