Hi all. i have a 240 fantic mid strip down and was wondering if anyone knows if the frame, where the swingarm spindle passes through, is threaded. Or is the spindle simply seized solid, as it will not budge (not even with heat, wd40 soaking etc.) The reason i ask is that the spindle nut seems very narrow.
Does anyone out there know before i get the irish screwdriver (large hammer) out........again!!
cheers

Yeah i saw the crash. It was a MONSTER.
Seen you at the top of the bank and thought, Surely he isn't coming down this way (about a 4-5ft drop over an undercut bank, which i think gave way), but you proved me wrong.
I thought you were VERY LUCKY not to break a leg, or a wrist. looked like the bike was bending your leg around a large boulder, just before you went swimming.
I shouldn't have laughed, but it was funny.
Sorry K, but i didn't expect you to even attempt that manouver so camera was off, but if you plan doing it again, give us some warning, i will catch it on video, and you will be

Quote " look at kinells waterproofs"
I assume that he has just blown them up to 20 PSI to cushion the blows

Were you the guy cooking up curry at forest gate also??
-
News just in- Surprise surprise- Its Pi**ing it down in Kinlochleven.
Hopefully this will improve by Monday, eh Boofont!!

Sorry marky but i guess that your mate has changed numbers or has decided to keep the front end, i phoned him a fortnight ago , left A message on his mobile but he hasn't replied. Ho well. anyone else got one?

GAFF'S right, the silkolene is good stuff, but a bit tricky to get hold of. i previously used pj1 clutch tuner, but have noticed the silkolene is more effective, for longer so is worth searching for.
If only they could do something about the mess all over the sump guard when emptying the old stuff.

I have recently acquired a 240 fantic and have found that it has a tendency to find neutral from both 1st and 2nd gear.(slipping out of gear) This is getting to be Bl*%$y annoying. any ides what the cause and remedy may be. I have the engine out of the frame at the moment and am about to start twinling the old spanners.
Also does anyone know of a disc braked front end which will fit without too many skinned knuckles and sweary words. (The brakes on it are as effective as putting my feet down , and i have narrowly avoided a few trees with my kamikaze techniques on steep down hills)
Thanks in advance for any help!!

You know it makes sense!!!

I think it's sorted, duff plug. I should have saved myself the trouble of checking the plug before taking the carb to bits (numerous times). Oh well!!
Cheers for your help r2w

Have cleaned the jets with carb cleaner, manifold has no leaks,
exhaust is clean.
I will try the choke and a new plug. It runs fine above tickover and when revved and shut of it will idle for a short while (maybe 10-20seconds) before dying.
I will also check the kill switch,
Cheers R2W

I have a problem with my bike in that it won't tickover, it just stalls.
I have taken the carb to bits and blown the jets out and checked the float heights, to no avail.
I have also screwed the idle speed up but it is still stalling.
The filter is clean
Does anyone have an idea what to try, or possible causes.

Hi all,
does anyone have jetting settings for an 03 Mont. It has the new needle in it (standard clip position), if that makes any difference, and i believe the main is 110.
The bike keeps stalling at low revs, even with the tickover wound up leading me to suspect the pilot.
It may just need the jets blown out with compressed air but it would be interesting to find out if anyone has tried alternative settings (which work better). i am located at sea level.
Any help appreciated!

Yeah, Takes years of practice, and years off the life of the engine!!

Looks like you are wasting your time duckwizard.
yet another post hijacked.
If you guys want to talk about Tony Rews farm or the competitiveness (or not) of 340's, or thier gearbox fragility, click on "new post" and do it there. It has no relevance to whether or not anyone has a 340 for sale, what to look for, or any of the questions originally posted.

I also ride a hayabusa (fantastic bike), yet wobble around the sections, so i wouldn't worry about it.
Good news is that trials bike spares seem ridiculously cheap, compared to road bike stuff!!

Hi all,
I have my bike in a hundred bits at the moment and have decided to clean the front pipes. I would like to know what you guys use to decoke/ clean the front pipes with?? (the front header and mid section)
The bike is a montesa 315
i know that this topic has been up before but cant find it!!
Thanks in advance and merry christmas everyone!!

BETTER STILL, WHY NOT MAKE IT FREE LICENCES AND ENTRIES (Sic)
What a bunch of whinging tightwads!!
So, as Big John so rightly put it, try entering another form of motorsport.
A friend does hillclimbs / sprints. Licence cost over

thanks for the replies guys. Some good pictures as well.
i also have a pair of the hebo gloves pictured, and find them thin, especially on the backs when riding near gorse bushes (spikey). They do offer good feel though, and have lasted well (two years so far - no rips/ tears).
i hope they offer a bit more protection than the hebos
I will order a pair on Monday and let you know how i get on. Cheers!

Hi all, i am contemplating treating myself to a pair of xc-ting neoprene gloves for christmas, cos i am fed up with soggy gloves on cold wet days.
I was wondering if any of you have tried them, and, in particular whether the extra thickness (i presume) of the material causes much less feel at the bars/levers.
I also presume (Doing a lot of presuming here!!) that they will be a bit more protective against gorse bushes and the like.
Any feedback appreciated.

Jeez calm down. Just because loads of people do it, doesnt make it alright. I am sure that there will be somewhere local for you to practice (legally). If not, why don't you try approaching landowners and asking them for permission.

Big john, White Bros. may have mediums @

Shoei TR3
Does anyone out there know where i could get a good deal on a shoei tr3. Before you mention White Bros. advert in T&MX last week, they don't have them in large.
Cheers in advance (hopefully!!)

No idea about the engine problems Gordon, but the tank/ seat unit you were looking for is currently advertised on ebay . the guys number is 07761971756. There is no price mentioned, but you are loaded, or so Kenny tells me. Good luck!
-
Yeah, the 02 will probably not be as "sharp/Snappy" on the throtle as the gas gas you tried, which is no bad thing!
If you can stretch to it, go for an 03 as they changed the porting which made the engine smoother to ride, giving more grip, less spin, especially lower in the rev range.
Run it on optimax as well to avoid pinking
Go for it... you won't regret it!!
( I'm on my second Mont, tried the others but preffered the engine and build quality of the montesa!!)
Good luck.
