  1. I am on my third montesa ,99,03,05. No problems, other than having to change clutch plates in one,(regular maintainance) but as with any bike, this is down to regular oil changes, filter cleaning, fresh plugs etc, My brother now rides a beta, previously had 2 sherco's. Both sherco's ate thier water pump seals, ist bike once, 2nd bike twice , in the space of 6 weeks, Shortly after selling his second sherco, it seized solid.. Bad luck?....Maybe I might be biased, but i know which i would choose !!
  2. Clean your carb slide!! I take it that the throttle is sticking. I had the same problem with one of mine, and used to put my gloved hand over the silencer outlet, until it stopped. Not ideal, but it worked.. Also check the cable routing from the carb, to prevent it happening in future!!

  4. I am not trying to put you off going into production, but i don't know many trials riders who would part with a hundred pouinds for a casing, i need one myself, but i wouldn't pay that,.....Then again, i am tight!
  5. Sorry, i only had a 99 &03, they were both coloured plastic, black and red. I could be wrong.if your dad's 01 is painted. It would have to be an extremely flexible paint, probably with added plasticiser. Still wouldn't advise it!
  6. The originals are coloured plastic, with the decals stuck on
  7. Blimey, i will bet a pound to a penny that the designer used to play with mecano as a child.
  8. Don't think i would spray it, cos the first time it bends, the paint will just crack, craze and probably fall off
  9. So far they are holding up fine, but saying that, i havn't done any rocky trials yet. In fact it has hardly moved at all, one trial, couple of practices. There is astill snow lying up here!! As for tyre changes, i havn't done any yet!!
  10. Orange sucks, black is the new orange!! SEE!
  11. Qote:would be intersted to know if Scorpa intend to keep them for the 07. I see that the cogs are spinning MrB. Go on you know you want it! Did you get my pm
  12. If memory serves me well it goes under the bottom yoke, beside the stem!
  13. Looks like it's just been pulled from the canal! Just noticed, 13 Bids, are they blind!!!
  14. Oi! Hughsey, you got your four stroke yet?
  15. I got pretty much everything from Mr Ferret flashers trials emporium (b=b Motorcycles), including the sticker kit. The santiveri ones came as part of the repsol kit, but he may be able to help you out. They have a link on the front page, and are sound people to deal with! I amn't even on commision!!, but i may badger him at the SSDT for a pint for the free advertising
  16. Thanks, glad you like it! I just thought that black wheels looked better than the putrid orange repsol ones. It's just something different!
  17. Which is exactly where i did get them from. Top service from Mr Flasher too, i might add!!
  18. Why not take the "joy" from thier riding (see above)
  19. That Harris suzuki has been known to be stripped down, to it's constituent parts in the living room. Oh well, needed a new carpet anyway!! Winter rebuild, why suffer, just crank up the heating!! You know it makes sense!!
  20. Also check the electrics for water, if you are prone to power washing it. My mate had the same problem. Traced it to the connector block at the rear of the tank (it lies flat). Drained the connector bloch, spray of silicone spray, and bingo, away it went!!
  21. Maybe that way you won't put it in motor drive, and use a film spool in about ten seconds flat BBWWWAAAAHHHAAAAHHHAAA
  22. Sorry, but IMO it's just "WRONG" It's the sort of thing that the guy (gay) bloke with the lips, from big brother would have on his trials bike (Pete Burns?) Don't do it!,you will suffer the ultimate ridicule!! On this occasion "DAD REALLY DOES KNOW BEST"

    Chaffing!

Try some heatshrink sleeving on the cable, or some technosel on the yokes, not ideal, but will stop them from marking
  24. Sorry, but it's not a 79. I started trials (many moons ago) with a 79 sherpa 250. It was a fantastic bike, never let me down, cue, rose tinted nostalgia glasses. Seriously, i still wish to this day that i had never sold it, it was mint.
  25. A big tip for ground anchors. When installing, go to your local DIY store and buy a packet of the cement which will set underwater. (Plumbers use it around old ouside pipes> This stuff sets so hard, that thieving toe rags will NEVER get your anchor out of the ground. It is seriously hard, you can hit it with a sledge hammer, and the hammer will bounce. Highly recommended!! Top tip 2. Get a very large dog! Top tip 3. Land mines, trip wires and bazookas
