    4rt Set Up

dude....you have a 4rt AND a sherco??....what,did you just win the lottery ?? 43 rear tooth is best. 315 aircleaner is better than stock filter and keep tickover up there...1900 is fine...will start better
  2. well, the initial experiences with this bike has sure been all over the map!! personally...I've never had such a trouble free bike!! far better than any carburated bike I've had.....until last week! she just refused to start .....figured I'd try a new spark plug...kicked a few times no luck...so I cranked up the idle screw...took a torch to the spark plug to burn off unburnt fuel, and bingo!!!started right away!!! I'm keeping the idle up to 1900 ........starts much better!! there are many discussions on this forum on same topic..read them all , you'll find lotsa solutions ....main thing...start in neutral!!!!!!

    4rt Throttle

you can get the same kind of action with a 44 tooth on the rear.............................masso

    4rt Throttle

first of all ...howard, where did you get the fast actions and what are they called?? second, I 've installed a throttle from a 315 ...I like it, it does seem faster action, but was not sold to me as such.......maybe some monresa dealers out there know the difference ...........................masso
  5. dude.....also, go into the forum ...find...CHEAP andSLIPPERY...Theres some good answers in there!!!
  6. dude...try automatic transmission oil....its the only thing that works!!!
  7. dear ferret catcher I would like to point out a great untruth in your message . you used the phrase.''the 4rt does not tend to suffer fromr DRAG!!!'' well, mine sure does!!!...its the draggiest clutch I've ever had ..... and you use engine oil in the tranny ????....impossible, I would have no clutch with engine oil!!!..........where did you buy this machine????
  8. most of the guys have said it right!!!....start in neutral!!! but they failed to mention just how IMPOSSIBLE it is to get the damned thing into neutral!!.....you'd think the world's most high-tech trials bike would get easily into neutral.!!....I have been able to start mine in gear, by replacing clutch system with the 315 lever/master cylinder unit...and running automatic transmission fluid in the gear box...been hearing rumblings about a MITANI clutch....this may be interesting!! also boost your idle a tad.this really helps also, check aircleaner for a greasy, oily goop clogging up the filter, clean it .....let the thing breath !.......if still having trouble...try racing gas ..............good luck ....masso
  9. I too have suffered from the dreaded clutch drag on my 4rt....tried many 75 light oils,,,,,,so far have been having best results with automatic transmission oil ......I also change the oil every 2 or three times out ...............masso

    New Rubber 4rt

I remember the first time I took my air cleaner out..jeez, it was full of some greasy goop!...I don't know how the thing ran! so, I quickly cleaned it out, the thing came to life!..still not happy with that ultra dense foam, I've put my old 315 air cleaner in and the thing runs great! far more responsive and revs out better! the better breathing foam also increases the idle..which I have left that way this helps with starting and probably does give me a stronger spark........masso
  11. can't acess e-bay off your link. but wood like to say that I am having great success by using a 315 filter! its less dense, lets the engine breath better....I like it !!!masso

    Dream Bike

had a 315 before the 4rt, hated the knocking and pinging ... all the monty's I ride with put 50/50 aviation gas and 91 octane ...cleared up the pinging and made a power monster out of it!! am running av gas in 4rt....runs sweet everywhere, more power. but noticed more of a difference with the two stroke .....................mass
  16. ................mines more spiffy than yours ...mines GOLD!!! how do you like the new gearing ????
  17. I got a 43 tooth......was a montesa and scorpa fit ...rather universal sprocket. cost me $70 ....that the kinda pricing we have to put up with here in canada

    New 4rt

I've had mine since february, so have had lotsa time to get a feel for the bike changed clutch/master cylinder last week.....would not go back also changed the rear sproket to a 43..I love it!..makes the bike feel like my 315...more snappier ,quicker response...but I also liked it stock....so, only time will tell....may go back to stock ....this is all personal taste stuff of course... let us know how you feel about the bike after a few hours .................masso
  19. ......no, I mean when the engine is dead!...of course, if I get the 315 clutch unit, I may be able to start the thing in gear, when engine warm... otherwise, its bloody hard to find neutral .....................mass <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I catch your problem, I do not often change the clutch oil, that is the first time, I missed to tell that I hold the clutch lever to get neutral when engine stalled. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ahhh...yes, will try that next time I'm out ...I don't hold clutch in , when engine dead.....try it this weeekend ..also, getting 315 clutch unit installed this weekend .....massso
  20. yes, wardo...you speak wisely! put in neutral while engine is running first. well, what they said makes sense, I just figure you pay this kinda money for a latest technology machine, and the tranny seems like it comes from an old XR.!!!
  21. yes, I should try the blipping technique....I do find it goes into neutral easier when the engines running, but when engine dead ....bloody hell! I have a street bike that shifts to neutral extremely easy. but, my experience with trialers, is that the shifting is the weak est part of the bike......makes sense tho, its designed to ride sections
  22. ......no, I mean when the engine is dead!...of course, if I get the 315 clutch unit, I may be able to start the thing in gear, when engine warm... otherwise, its bloody hard to find neutral .....................mass
  23. .............what???.......you sold yours???
  24. I broke my throttle unit a few weeks into the new bike. I'd never owned any bike brand new before..didn't realize its wise to tighten all bolts and screws...so, got a 315 unit installed, I like it , its a bit ''quicker'' than stock
