    Ossa 250 2014

It's on the East Scotland trials forum, but you would be hard pushed to find it. Must be keeping it low key to avoid riff raff appearing(me). Anyway Dunfermline are now running a trial on Saturday so it's going to be a guddle. It would be better on Sunday at Glenlomond as nothings on (SACU presentation) I'll let you know. If you want to phone Iain it's 01337 860255. (Still Glenlomond Sat morning, that's all I know)
  2. We will all have to work harder at grassroots to get more riders. Trials is like a secret society,if more people actually knew about it would be a step forward. There's plenty out there that want to ride trials ,they just haven't heard about it yet.
  3. As I've said before the average Wobbler is about 2 stone overweight so 4 kg on the bike is neither here or there. Be nice to have a tank that you don't have to fill every 10 minutes.

    Ossa 250 2014

A friend of mines just got the Ossa dealership. He's got a new 250 Ossa as a demo. Next Sat he's having a test day. Will let you know how it goes. Obviously it will be rubbish compared with my Scorpa. Don't mind lowering my standards for a morning..

    Cool Video

Really good, like the slow motion theme. On some of the hops the back wheel barely turns , but the lift is amazing. Quality.

    Best Bike

Me too as the average trials rider up here is about two stone overweight.
  7. I've a 012 Scorpa 280 sr (sherco motor) and it rides nothing like any Sherco. Not saying it's better or worse but very different..
  8. Get yourself down to your local trial and have a look. You'll get more advice than you can shake a stick at ,see the bikes and get a feel for how things are these days. If you say where you're from I'm sure someone will point you towards a trial in your locality. Cheers the noo as we say in cold places.
  9. Correct, I think about 06/7 the old plate got binned. Really wish they had kept the linkless rear suspension. Ok maybe not as subtle as some modern set up's.. Great for folk who've worked on bikes too long. It's a Sherco with the tank in the right place.
  10. I never though about that! Yes I did make them slightly bigger, but not them all just one in each group of three. Not much ,if it was a mm I would be surprised. As I only Trial it and you would have to be a brave man to really give it gas I can't see this doing any damage. Thanks for the tip, best it's ever run..
  11. Hi Loonal, Had it to bits today and saw the holes were already drilled. However,I tried a wee bit" fine tuning" with my drill. All I can say is that it is better in the cul-de-sac. See how it goes tomorrow. Post Trial Big improvement ,drag almost eliminated, can even get neutral now at a standstill.
  12. Montesa/Honda are pretty robust, you'll notice that a 2nd hand one will cost about twice as much as a similar aged gas gas/beta etc. All the bikes are fine but you must maintain them properly and ride them as a trials bike. Go to trial ,see what they're all riding and talk to the riders.
  13. Time for twist and go for both of us if the truth be told. Can you fit an electric start and commode to an SWM? These are standard on some Scorpas.
  14. Personally I like a nice low first gear as I can dodge about without clutching to death,. I would be reluctant to "gear up" all you get is a high first gear which can be hard work in tight stuff. Mokwepa's dad on a 300 Evo at 60?,there things will draw away in 4th without a cough. Thing is at our club we get far more new 280/300s than 250s it must be a macho thing. (saying that I've a 270 but you can't get a 250 Scorp anymore) Then they try to soften them with flywheel weights, timing, gearing slow action throttles etc End up with a 300 that has the power of a 250 but doesn't feel as good.
  15. I think I'll need to change my tactics after their last trial. The coffee and cakes were so good at the start that a number of us had to be carried out the barn and placed on our bikes. Nearly burnt the clutch out getting up the first hill. I'll drop a tooth on the gearbox sprocket and put a new leaf spring on the old Scorpa for this one. See you there.
  16. Hi Vic, We've got a clubmember with the Fantic disease too, there's no cure. Been over to NI a few times in the early 80s,Leadmines,Batt Estate. Great folk, put a load of us up at a nice hotel.le mon house? Stayed with Benny Crawford, don't suppose he's about now. I was just a boy,so was Robert then. They were the day's. Happy trialing. Cheers.
  17. The whole scoring system in trials is mad. Try explaining it to someone outside the sport and see how you get on. Personally I would ditch 2s and 3s. Clean dab or 5 nothing else, Leave it stop allowed, but riders must proceed when the observer directs them. Easy.
  18. I don't want to ask the FIM anything. Would it not be better if trials was run by a body only interested trials? UK based too. Not that I'm biased.
  19. Most of us had moved on to Fantics,SWMs, Italjets in my case by 83. Really can't picture anyone on a late 340?
  20. There's a lad called Davy Mowat who worked as Pages mechanic during this era. He's still in the trials scene, but stays up about Wick or somewhere. Don't know how you would get in touch with him,but he might know something, Try the Inverness Club?
  21. No favourites then,Graham need's a better PR team.
  22. I don't want suggest for a second that Dougie Lampkin is not the greatest , However why was the headline on the forum tell us he was 2nd in h the last extreme event? Then go on to tell us Graham Jarvis who has won more than a few club trials was first?
  23. Eh,the original engine was knackered. You don't think i swapped it because I had nothing better to do? I couldn't get an old style engine.
  24. They all do,,standard they run 10/11 front 57 rear sprockets to get round this but you really only have one usable trials gear. This isn't a problem as they have so little power anyway. Rode a trial today ,everthing in first, just rev it a bit more. Ran perfect.
  25. It's in,had to swap the electrics though. Blank off the casing where the starter goes. Carb/ manifold bolts straight on. See how it goes tomorrow.
