    My Babies

Got a few myself, all gie rough. That white one looks at first glance to be one of the last 08s? Don't think it is though.?
  2. Hi Darren,I know you're unlucky to be outside Wobblers domain but welcome aboard. We've loads of roadies or ex roadies,Iain Duffus,Brian Morrison,Vic Allan even had Jimmy Storrar, one thing in common couldn't clean a section if there life depended on it. Only joking, well not in Ians case, but don't tell him because he's a great guy. Most of the road boys go no bad in the end ,takes time, sure it will do you a lot of good . All the best from civilisation.
  3. Even though se lucas's mother hadn't heard of bicycle trials I'm pretty sure she knows what a bicycle is and more than likely has one. I don't suppose she has a 250 Gas gas in the back shed or would recognize one if it ran her down . Atomant,,yes Honda and Red Bull are big money, but who's going to watch something they don't even know exists?
  4. Money! From the makers to the clubs everthing is so marginal that there's nothing left to promote the sport. I've said it many times trials is like a secret society,we travel about to hidden locations with bikes in the van how is anyone going to find out about it? There is plenty people want to ride but they will never find out about trials. We need promotion and it takes money.
  5. Duncan cannie get Scorpas,he's had more dates than Jordan. Anyway what's the difference between a 2014 trials bike and a 2015? 3 stickers and £150.or if it's a Montesa forget the stickers!
  6. Ross the bikes have got better but the riders are a lot older. I can picture a nice chap on an SWM somersaulting from the peak of that rock as the modern tyres got him a lot higher than he really wanted! Followed by similar on a Bultaco.
  7. Aye that skin tight stuff' so camp even Julian Clary couldn't get away with it.
  8. Do you think you would get away with that section about the 34 min mark at a modern t/s trial?

    Vented Fork Caps

When I saw video footage of you upside down in that stream last Sunday Mur I didn't consider this fork issue a priority! There may be lack of fluid in your forks but there was plenty everywhere else apart from the gearbox and primary which probably drained out the breathers into the streams nailing Kelvins prize carp. Anyway every Bultaco should be treated like that, mine too if I can ever get it running again..
  10. I've been mulling over running an enduro or similar for trials bikes for a while. Nothing hardcore, thing is how many sections can you walk or queues can you sit in? It would be nice just to go for a wee blast. Don't know if anyone has done it before? (without sections) .
  11. Brian, get a grip is there going to be cakes? Don't think I'm travelling 70 miles from darkest Fife in a 3 litre 25mpg Tonka toy for a digestive biscuit!
  12. Aye, wouldn't hold my breath but that's another argument. 2S4S I know I rode a few Forfar ones back in the late 70s but they weren't that popular. It would be nice to try something different.
  13. Looks great fun and no sections to walk, something like that up here just for trials bikes would float my boat. Might appeal to riders who wouldn't enter a regular trial. Most riders can mange this unlike a trial where most avoid the harder routes. Thanks for posting.
  14. Here's a thing at most trials up here you will find the same observers time and time again. I would suggest it is in the riders interest to take any hard decisions on the chin rather than question the observer Upsetting an observer could cost you a lot of marks over a season or longer. I know one observer who fived a rider every time regardless of his score after an incident. The riders now retired.
  15. This sounds grim, I can't imagine what the population of the SE USA is and what you're saying is there's next to no trials? We're spoiled, sure some of the riders down south will have a choice of 4 or more trials most weekends within an hours drive. Locally we have a trial within 90 minutes most weekends, often 2. All this doesn't help you,but I've found that running events that cater for fun /clubman riders seems to bring in entrys and new riders. Two routes,so the sections don't look like a bag of markers have exploded on the hillside. Keep it simple ,though you will have to accept you will lose riders that get better.. We've done this for 5 years and pick up new members most trials.
  16. It would be a fantastic boost for UK trials if he gave them a shot, you could probably sell tickets for the Scott. He's the best and has nothing to prove,if he rode these 2 trials it would be magic.
  17. Very interesting, you're probably the only one that knows that I'll investigate further. Many thanks..
  18. As you know I only ride club trials so it doesn't really matter what you ride because most could be won on Bob McGregors Rudge. Don't tell anyone though because it will kill new bike sales. Thing is I get bored, last two trials I borrowed an rl Suzuki and and old ty to finish the course. Can't say they made much difference. Any theories about this fantic?
  19. I don't photograph them I just ride them. Rode a trial yesterday on it and that's what minded me of it's wee problem. I only ride it about once a month as I try to vary it between my Scorpa and a banger of a 340 Bultaco that died a couple of weeks back. The bike has an old Beta front end with USD forks so it looks odd,if I can find a friend to post a photo I will. Might be one of it on the Wobblers or East Scotland trials site, but you'll have to trawl a bit.
  20. Why I have this bike I don't know because when I had one back in the day it nearly finished me with trials. However, that's a side issue, the bike runs fine but it runs weak downhill and rich uphill. No much but enough as catch you out. All Fantics I've ever owned have been prone to this (just 249s) and I've fiddled with float levels till the inlet rubbers gave up. This one isn't far off so I wont be touching it unless someone can say this is what you have to do and it works. Thanks in advance for any replies..
  21. Don't think this is your problem but the link pipe as you call it is a breather pipe and will need a hole in it. Often they are 2 completely separate pipes. Maybe you replacing it with a sealed pipe has caused a vacuum. Long shot.
  22. Hi John,my advice would be even if you got it free it would be a killer unless money was no option. This old 340 I've got which I trialled up until a fortnight ago is costing me serious money and that is just to get it running half decent. Probably could buy a 2012 Beta for the money it will be costing me and it will still look like a banger. On the upside whatever I spend I will likely get back and I have the pleasure of dealing with Bultaco UK,very nice people. Anyway who wants a Beta.
  23. Ok it's not trials as we know it but a bit high level publicity can't be anything but good. Folk still go on about Kickstart 30 years after it was shown did a lot of good but not exactly "the future of trials" Trials events in general just preach to the converted which is hopeless. Anything like this that attracts a wider audience get's my vote.
  24. Thanks lads, the spindles pretty solid but I'm fairly confident I can get it out. I'll bite the bullet and replace the lot and fit a decent head steady. I think the engine has been bouncing about for a while. Let you know if there's an improvement when I get it back together.
