Grimbo rode a 2t in this years Scott. You have to stop your engine in the petrol checks, he lost time in the 2 previous years on the 4t with starting issues.

Seeing as though he's posted it in the Sherco forum I guess he is on about the 05 Sherco 4t. Only bike I've know where lads were talking it back to dealers & getting swaps. Don't believe they've ever really sorted out the starting issues with the bike, why are people still fitting upgrade carb kits? Why did Grimbo ride a 2t Sherco in this years Scott when he's rode a 4t all year? Surely the 4t Sherco is up to the toughest one day Trial in World? Why are the works riders signed up to ride 2t bikes? I've just noticed the guy describes himself as a lowly Clubman & doesn't want a bike that's a handful. Well the last Keihin carbed 4t Sherco I rode was a handful, infact I thought it was bloody awful, certainly not a bike for a rider with limited experience.

Unless it's very very very cheap, DO NOT BUY IT.

I only know this because I was the second last on time in 2002 & I want my name on a Scott pot! I keep thinking about riding again & taking my chance on getting the Oldest Official Finishers Pot but Chris Shorey is older than me & he keeps finishing every year. That's my excuse for not riding & I'm sticking to it.

It's a very difficult one to answer as I don't think there is anybody with a full set of results, I may be wrong though. The fact that the rules have changed a few times over the years doesn't help, it has varied from a mark a minute to a mark every two minutes. I may be wrong but I think Adsy has the Finishers Certificate with the longest time on it, I believe he was the slowest to finish in 2002. There may be a slower one from 1998 but that, in my opinion, doesn't count as the results from that year should be null & void.

I bet with all the stress this has caused him he might just become late.

It is approx 20 miles from Gunnerside Ghyll to the start field. I suppose the crow that you used had the same sense of direction as you.

Last year ran at 85.5 miles, the Motorclub have a Gps system which I usually give to a rider that I'm fairly certain that will finish. Sorry but I don't know what the mileage is for 2008 as the Gps failed to work, it can be a bit flakey dependent on how it is carried. When I did the pre event route by hand altering last years route to the course alterations that had been planned, the estimate was 83.5 miles. The course is shorter now than it has been, some of the runnings have approached 90 miles. It's not bad considering the event is never more than 20 miles as the crow flys from the start field.

I'VE NOW BEEN TOLD THAT THE TRIAL WILL GO AHEAD BUT WITH A VENUE CHANGE - NEW VENUE IS REELS HEAD ON THE FREMINGTON TO MARKSE ROAD. ( cheers web supremo, get back to the telly )

I've been told tonight that this Trial is off due to the very wet underfoot conditions, please tell anybody who intended to ride. This trial is not cancelled - see change of venue 2 posts down.

At the end of the day it's about being bike fit. I suspect Billy's spin round Scotland will have improved strength in a lot of bike related muscles, it also helps the head in that you learn to put up with long days on the bike. After my first Scottish my knees were still hurting come Scott time. I wish I'd ridden a few SSDT's while I was still daft enough to want to ride the Scott, I'm sure I'd have had a few more in time finishes.

Just got the results here, he was actually 21 seconds out of time. Unlucky.

Yes he did, they went as a job lot with his fleece. Not sure if the buyer got them though.

He was approx. 5 minutes out of time, having gone well for a lot of the day. Now he's gone all the way round he'll know what's needed to get it round in time to get a Finishers Certificate.

I've got a very nice jacket hung up in my office. Last year Fuji gave us the jacket he was wearing to auction. C of C Bruce Storr bought it & this year he's generously put it back up for sale. It's Fuji's personal jacket & has all his sponsors logos etc on it. it has been signed by Fuji. The going is nothing like as firm as it was last year, it's all rather squelchie at the present. I wouldn't put too much more in than normal.

Brown hasn't shown himself able to go quick enough in the Scott yet. Wigg was third on observation last, not bad for a first timer, at just over the hour slow his time wasn't bad either.

Yes, you need to start your own topic. You also need to make sure you drink plenty of fluid, tie bottles of water to your fuel cans. Make sure you take enough time to drink it all & don't splutter it all back out about 100 yds down the track.
