The first one started at the top of Rest & Be Thankful & did a loop round Moor House & Telfit. Glen Scholey won. The Club would be grateful if anybody could find & give us any old results as we don't seem to have any records of them. Redvanman is currently in charge of the RMC film archive, he's in process of getting it into a modern format. I'm sure there'll be some Mintex footage in that.

The event will start at Bridge End which is normally petrol check 5 in the Scott. The route will then follow back towards petrol check 6 & then loop back round. There'll be some Scott sections in & some Reeth 3 Day sections too, Orgates a bit too far away. Sadly the likes of Surrender is out of bounds to us on all days bar the one in October.
Rules will be 22B, I think the idea is to make things as much like the Scott as possible, short interval starts, route flagging, very open sections & there'll most likely be a petrol check. The whole thing is very much Nathan's baby & all the how are we going to do it stuff hasn't been 100% decided at the moment. We're hoping to be able to do the results on the day & have a Presentation too but again ideas are still being bounced round. There's also plans to provide camping locally for all competitors. I'm sure we'll have it all sussed for the day & come up with our usual good quality event. I remember riding (very badly) in the first Mintex in 1979, it was great fun & something very different.
We appear to be having website issues at the moment so I've attached the details now.

Suppose I could go as I've bugger all else to do at the moment, lack of funds though, sod it.

You really must try our little Club Trial in October, steady ride round & 76 sections to go at, what more can you want?

On the 7th of June this year RMC will once again run the Mintex Trophy Trial in it's original format, Time & Observation for Schoolpersons. Open to A Class, B Class & ACU approved C Class riders the event will be run on a two lap format. The planned course will form a lap of approximately 15 miles & will provide a true Scott style test.

RMC have two Trials on the Easter Weekend.
First is the Adult Trial on Good Friday, suitable for Hard Course, Green Course & Clubmen + A Class Youth riders. The Trial will be held on Fremington Edge & start at 10.30. Please note that the start will be at the top of Reels Head & not at Copperthwaite, it will be flagged from Fremington Corner & Markse.
The second Trial will held at Iron Banks on Easter Monday, start time 1.00pm. Now although it's on a Monday it's one of Saturday series Trials. The RMC Saturday series trials have changed for 2009 and are are now called "Easy Clubman and Youth" and open to all club members.(

my try
Don't think your link works Dom. Logged onto the Racing Post site this morning & there was a load of fat ugly dike posts in the user comments.
-
We moved it due to the clash with the World Round which is on our date offered by the Yorkshire Centre, the Centre diary is cluttered to say the least & August was the only replacement option. Normal routes will be used & more information will appear when the Regs go out.
-
Scott is one lap of 76 sections, you cross your tracks going in & out from the start but generally there's 76 different sections.
& cheating slightly
Reeth 3 day is one lap of 110 sections
SSDT is one lap of 180 sections
Why does the AJ always have to be just before our 3 Day when I'm busy marking out?
-
That's kinda what I said but in a different way You simply go out & buy an old style set of clamps, Renthal ones are more expensive than GG ones but are better quality.
A cheap method of packing is to cut up an old style 6 bolt sprocket, the hole c/c's are the same as the clamps, all you need is some longer bolts.
-
I remember one locally being for sale with this break & it was for spares or repair. a) the guy was a lazy bugger & wouldn't / couldn't fix it it's weird stuff which doesn't take kindly to welding c) buying a new one wasn't economically viable.
I'd work on the theory that it'd be fixable but I'd be looking for someone who knows what they're doing to weld it for you as next time time breaks you may get hurt.
who'd a thought there was no option
-
I find fat bars to low so I use standard bars, I have a set of Renthal clamps which I think I bought off Gas Gas UK.
-
Love to see that ****e work when you've a hole in your tyre that a finger will fit in.
Get a tool & some dog turds, I'm sure someone will have a link to post.
-
Funny that but I saw a gleaming green Moggy 1000 pick up complete with 2 gleaming pre 65 bikes in the back last Sunday, could hardly believe my eyes.
-
Get it sent over home CK. You'd look a right pimp cruising round Mandale Triangle.
-
No date was offered at a suitable time of year for us, the same as has happened every year since we ran our A/B round a few years back, so the Club withdrew it's application.
On the other hand we are running what has been called a 'SPECIAL' Trial on the 7th of June, now I'm not realy sure what's happening but I'm sure there's a few rumours floating round. I do hope that all the top A & B runners support the event as I know it'll be a major undertaking on the organisation front.

Entry details are now available for the Reeth 3 Day Trial to be held on the 24th 25th & 26th of July 2009.
White Bros Motorcycles of Darlington have once again kindly agreed to be main sponsors of the event. The club have also obtained sponsorship from TW Bikesport, Harker

My renewal is due & I've called MSM for a quote. They're more expensive than my current insurer but taking RTA insurance out for the road based events I do makes them cheaper. They offer third party or third party fire + theft policies. Didn't check up on multibike policy though.

I was actually wondering about going downhill. Most Trials round here at some point involve steep hillside descents on the route round. A friend of mine suggested that the clake idea wasn't new & said that tractors had been fitted with a similar device, going down hill they'd been bloody frightening. So I was wondering how much fun it'd be going down the Pap of Glencoe with one of these things bearing in mind I got cramp in my right leg going down there through constant stamping on the brake. I'd also suggest that going down hills like that I'd not actually use the clutch that much & generally stop just short of stalling then release the rear brake, I always thought the gear box was a brake.
-
Thanks, that's what I thought. That also means Jack Sheppard beat all of last years A class graduates at the Scarborough round, well done.
-
Which route do the youth class ride?
-
What happens when you're at the top of a big hill? I assume there's a point where you're clutch in & not braking, what's normally a three way balancing act of throttle, clutch & brake doesn't seem to work.
-
The dates on the RMC website are for 2008, for some reason it is not up to date. RMC do not have a c/d National in 2009.

I owned both a 348 & a white 349 from new. The 348 was a nice bike to ride the 349 wasn't, bloody thing was always 5 yards in front of me & pulled my arms out. Perhaps this is why I don't like big bore trials bikes. The 242 mont that replaced the 349 was heaven to ride in comparison. I think Woody & I have radically different views on what is & isn't a nice trials bike to ride, can't think I'd have had the urge to take a tyz or a birkett special round Scotland. Now I've got the 4 stroke thing out of my system can't see me riding owt but a 250 Gasser.
