  1. Found it http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=7082
  2. Search site under 'Scott Trial' & that brings up several items, I particularly like the Le Mans style start of one year, they declined resurecting it when I suggested it at a Scott committe meeting. From memory I think there's some also under 'Yorkshire Grand National' also try 'Travers Trophy Trial' For some reason I've previously used the itv.com site to watch & search for items. This was ages ago & I'm not 100% sure why but I think you can get a larger picture.
  3. Telling Dabster "I seriously suggest you keep quiet"
  4. You change yer mind more often than Kinnel changes his under crackers.
  5. Just had a message from him on skype "What's cartography?"
  6. It's two weeks until the entries close for this years Scott Trial. There's only one chance a year to ride the worlds greatest one day Trial. So download your regs from HERE & get then posted back to the secretary.
  7. I'm running 9 - 41 on my 250 Gasser. I've found using an R1 chain that I really need to have a half link in it, problem is you can't buy one for an R1. I'd like to know if there's a comparable chain + half link available. Running this set up I've found both 2nd & 3rd more useable & that I can pull 5th across the moors.
  8. I doubt many of our Observers bother reading what goes on these or any other forum for that matter. I heard that Watto & Simmy Observed 2 sections each, so that's 20 marks for those that don't move fast enough
  9. I have cover with this company, not as cheap as some but it saves on paying RTA cover for road based Trials.

  11. i bet it'd tek a good shot to p*** into it from the top condo.
  12. No, I graft for a living. I thought it looked a bit like a 90's Bercy section.
  13. Any, what did Joanna Lumley do to you?
  14. 9 - 38 is approximately the same as 10 - 42 9 - 40 is slightly lower geared than 10 - 44
  15. You bike's not run in yet, it needs a load more hours. I think JR Sunt needs to post about how long a 4RT needs before rebuild. His bike has had more tap than any I know & I mean serious tap.
  16. In his wisdom Andy has given me Moderator options whilst he's away on his holidays. I've closed the other thread & I'll close this one. Give over name calling / baiting & discuss the original topic.
  17. It's a bit lost with the mists of time but this is how I remember the change from Stop allowed to Stop = 5. I think we went back to No Stop rules prior to the SSDT doing so. The simple problem was that the good riders have the ability to stop & have a look midway up the sections. Therefore sections were being marked out harder, it didn't bother the stars but the average lads were struggling. Marking the Scott out is a big balancing act, we've got to give all the 200 punters their enjoyment, this varies from simply setting off from the start field to winning the event. The real balancing act though is to mark a Trial out that'll get a result amongst the good lads & will also allow the serious triers the chance of a Finishers Certificate, get this wrong & it's good chance the entry level will go down. The rules aren't the only reason for RMC having success with the Scott but I certainly think they have helped. Mick, I think you've been Steward often enough by now that you should have read the rules. The jist is if you enter a section with somebody else in it, it's your problem & if you stop the Observer should give you a 5. The other side of this is for the Scott we have probably 300+ on the day helpers many of these only attend one trial a year. As Observing is one job I wont do, I'll leave it to the man / woman with the pencil to take the score.

    2010 Ssdt

3rd until the 8th of May. West End is directly opposite the Parc Ferme, probably has the liveliest Trial atmosphere on a night of anywhere in FW. Stayed there once & it was ok, food was certainly better than anything I'd had in the Alex or the Cruachan. I think you'll need a hire car unless you get up early on a morning & like a bit of walking. I don't think it's difficult to clock up 600 miles following the ssdt for a week.
  19. ah, that's it, full zips have more give.
  20. There are still some places left for this years Gerald Simpson Trial to be held on the 23rd of August. The event is a traditional single lap of 40 sections, roadwork is included. The course based in Coverdale will be as previous years. Return a copy of the regs attached + a cheque asap to guarantee a ride. SIMP_09_regs.pdf
  21. I think the full story needs to be out...........................................4 years ago Andy very kindly gave a TC Fleece to auction for charity on Scott Trial night. I was helping on stage & doing a bit of bidding to keep things ticking along. The TC Fleece was knocked down to me, it was way to small for me so I gave it to Highland Lassie who in turn paid Andy who was supposed to forward a correct size one on to me. Anyway I'm still waiting, I think the ******* must have asked me about the size, colour & type at least 3 times, he just keeps teasing me.
  22. Remember this is a last years thread...............I queried the dates with Mick Wren & the Trial is on the 17th & 18th of October 2009. I was hoping that it'd be the week before as I'll be stuffing flags in for the Scott on the 17th & 18th.
  23. I must buy a copy of the Dambusters, at least they had the take off right, 3 abreast down the grass, that must have been a hoot.
