  1. Just fill it until you start to see oil in the sight glass on the side of the case with the bike level.
  2. Is it really cold where you are? In cold weather fuel won't vaporize as easily in a cold engine and can require an even richer mixture. Strange as it sounds sometimes when I can't get an engine to fire cold I'll blow into the tank vent to pressurize the tank and pinch off and hold the line for a bit to force fuel into the engine. It seems to help though it could just be brain damage from gas fumes.
  3. Any extra forward momentum lets you "throw" the bike forward at the top to be sure the rear wheel sticks.
  4. Two things, Big effort to jump up and forward. The total inertial mass of you and the bike must have a net forward momentum as the rear wheel gets to the top. Don't stay on the throttle. This is the most common mistake. If you stay pegged on the gas the rear suspension doesn't unload until far too late in the maneuver. You want the rear suspension decompressing as soon as the rear wheel is high enough on the rock for your skid plate to clear. This rotates the mass of the bike forward as well as keeping the wheel in contact as it goes up.
  5. When I'm bored I'll change gear oil. That's about it. I suppose there'll be indignant howls from the purer mechanics. ?
  6. Welcome back my friend. (to the show that never ends) Showing my age?
  7. It is a reference to the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" in keeping with the theme of China manufacturing. An attempt at a bon mot. I apologize for the obscure reference.
  8. Crouching Beta Hidden GasGas
  9. Probably best to ask on the GasGas specific forum.
  10. I think we're pushing 70" in the last 2-3 weeks and it's going nowhere soon. 2 degrees F and 30-40MPH gusts. On the bright side there's a chance of snow Wed and Sat so I got that going for me. It is raining though, in the bedroom, wife's office and most disturbing, the TV room downstairs. Dripping out of a light fixture. Who knows where it'll show up next.
  11. Great. I notice you've kept your levers near level. Good, that's proper position because if you drop them like the enduro guys you lose the critical front brake control on downhills.
  12. The first link looks like a scam to me as in buy the bike on line and what shows up has the same number of wheels and that's about all. Read down a bit and it has a four stroke gas/diesel with kick and electric start. At 66kg no less. Sounds pretty good.
  13. Now that snow tread thing is a good reason to get a 300.
  14. I think the suppliers would have little to say if Chinese investors infused cash into GasGas that could be used to pay them off. Regulators might intervene but I doubt it as they want their money back too. For a Chinese company to acquire a known brand might be well worth 20mil. Much more than the company is currently worth. Think Tata motors acquiring Jaguar or Honda acquiring Montesa.
  15. Another foot forecast for Sunday. This is seriously nuts. Oh yeah another storm Wednesday.
  16. That might not be true in the US anymore. Recent copyright law changes have left many orchestras scrambling for material as most of the well known European works have now been reclassified as under copyright.
  17. Hmmm expand into China. Foreign investors? Would you still love your GasGas if it was made in China? Come to think of it how much of the Honda is still made in Spain? Any of it?
  18. A brace might help. It depends on what's wrong though. Sometimes you just have to let it heal.
  19. To quote Creedence Clearwater Revival, "Doo doo doo, lookin out my back door"
  20. Sounds nice. We are getting snow all day until tomorrow, then Thursday and Friday then next Monday. Currently have ice dams at both ends of house and water coming in. Going to be a long winter and expensive summer.
