Number 2254 - Mr Greig - probably a dissident knowing him
-
I'll probably get slammed down for this, but broad shoulders
We need to sort our own acts out too. The 4RT is a step in the wrong direction for trials in the UK. In many cases we're too close to civilisation to increase the amount of noise our bikes make.
In the grand scheme of things, the 2 stroke/4 stroke argument for trials will make bugger all difference - except a negative one if they can't produce some decent power without taking all the baffles out.
Sherco seems to have managed to develop the power without the noise. Why haven't Honda?
I cringed at one of our trials earlier in the year, when a 4rt blasted up a rocky gulley. To me, it sounds loverrrrrly, but to the bloody awkward residents about 300m away it probably didn't sound so good.
On the top of our mountain course, we can get away with it - nobody for miles. At many other venues, we have to watch our backs.
I'm not saying that 4RT's are the problem at Addingham, but we need to do whatever we can to stop the buggers whinging in the future.

"Hi, I'm from England - I'm lost. Any chance you could show us the way"
Probably wouldn't go down too well today. 5-0

What do you mean "For once"?
And just out of interest, was it Kinell being a grey old fart bit that clinched it
-
This is getting like bloody politics - you can't say anything for fear of someone stating you're discriminating against someone.
He's put the blokes title, then their names, then a bit explaining what might be a burning question on many peoples minds, then the ladies title, then the ladies names, and there doesn't seem to be a need for any explanation.
Just face it Kinell, you're too old for it, no matter how you try to win favour with the fairer sex, you're still just a grey old fart to them
P.S. Still not sure about the Colly logic - I'd be gutted to be the next best rider out there, and not picked just to give a lesser rider a chance.
There - have I upset everyone yet?

I like these:
"STILL HAS TURBO GUAGE,'WORKS' BUT NO TURBO!" from here
"Obviously very well looked after in Japan by a family (still had sweet wrappers on the back seat)" from here

Collie won it on about 13
Thorpe 2nd on about 17
Jeremy Darlington won the clubman route on 32
Katy Sunter 7th and top lady rider
Robin Luscombe and Les Ashby first sidecar
Morewoods retired with buggered suspension on Sunday

Great weekend, had a respectable ride on Saturday. Had a bit of a mare on Sunday as I smashed my wheel in to a step with a bit of a bang, and destroyed one of the bearings (nowt to do with weight, must have been a dodgy bearing ). Three 5's until I got back to the van to change the wheel. Threw the chain off and launched me back off a waterfall in to a stream. Then next two hours riding flat out to catch up.
Want to enter for next year right now
Got beat by a girly Well done Katy - she was riding like a demon.

You just leave the sheep molesting to the experts.

Yep - I used a car battery to test mine - just make sure it's disconnected from everything else so I'm not responsible for blowing anything else up

I live in Oswestry, I think you must be talking about Nant Mawr quarry - definitely out of bounds except for official events.
If I go practicing (other than local friends farm) I tend to go to Wern Ddu. Been a while, but it was

In our area, it's not so much the type of trial, as the type of rider that affects things (although they may be related). A lot of the classic bike trials seem to be middle aged to old aged blokes. The odd one might have his wife with him, and the odd enthusiast may turn up on a road bike to observe for example.
The modern trials have a fair few young lads with parents in tow, who are used to observing. We have a band of regular stalwart parents, plus a few of the aforementioned enthusiasts (For the locals, Tom Sagar doesn't often get to our trials these days, but his Gran and Grandad come to most trials to observe - Albert (dunno maybe 65-70) turns up on his road bike, most of the rest are parents.
Keep the youth coming and you've got ready made observers.

I've got to admit, I would love to live in Canada, and would be there now if I could land a networking job from afar. I think the "mentality" there is one of the best I've seen. Sort of upbeat British with an American accent (I think) .
I've only been to one trial there, but I couldn't have wished for a better atmosphere. Yeah, you don't have 120 riders and observers at every section, but you do have some great land and some great people, and plenty of beer at the end .
Favourite place to trial - not been there for a while, but where I grew up East Yorks - Scarborough, Richmond, Darlington, Middlesbrough, Guisborough (bet I've missed one - been too long).
Some brilliant land here in Mid-Wales too though.

What you feeding them on???
My 10 year old is 4'7" and 55 pounds.

B Class - If he's 13 there is no doubt he's B Class
-
It's sort of refreshing to know the young lads are finding it hard too - they make it look so easy usually
-
Cramp - Doh!!!!!
water - water - water
I know you probably know your stuff, but i find that cramp seems to be almost entirely water problem. I hardly get cramp any more, and I'm not peak of physical fitness by any stretch of the imagination. Just make that extra effort to force water down your neck whenever you can. It's so easy to get dehydrated and it makes such a difference to the body.
Probably preaching to the converted I know, but helps me.
-
Don't want to complicate it, but to put it another way which is the same every year and saves you working out dates:
D Class - Can finish off the year in which they are 9
C Class - Can finish off the year in which they are 12
B Class - Can finish off the year in which they are 15
A Class - Can finish off the year in which they are 17
Think I've got it right - If I haven't someone let me know and I'll correct it, otherwise every bugger will be confused
So make sure you have your kids in the January they get to stay in the class for up to a year longer than others
-
Well the Boro were looking good at first today - Downing has done my fantasy football team no end of good...but then it all went wrong. What happened Cota Kid? I'm sure I could hear the groans of the Riverside from 10 miles away.
Can't believe I left Bent sat on the bench, and played Heskey to get booked.
Can't see anyone touching Chelsea again this year. Aston Villa to give them a fright this year, then their new yank investors to bring some big guns in next year - well maybe not
3-1 against Man City tomorrow I reckon
-
