  1. Would that make the ultimate section a giant bathtub? You annoy me Ian just because I don't have the noggin to do it How about, for us lardies, producing a 300 Gasser in a heavier version, one made of metal, with real threads and everything.
  2. I have a feeling he's a victim of his own success. I bought my Kliponoff a few years ago, purely because Dave didn't respond to my email for about three weeks. He responded the day after I bought the other one. Sod's law. I didn't know about Stu and Autowbars in those days otherwise I could have saved myself some hassle.
  3. I agree - the teams need educating, the observers have to enforce it, and the FIM have to back it up. What is the point in having rules if they are flaunted. What's to stop the bloke in the yellow jumper going in to the corridor to help out, followed by his wife, he has just as much right to be in there as the 'Cheater'. There is a danger that it becomes like football, where the players blatantly yell abuse at the officials because discipline has been eroded over the years.
  4. Doh!!! I usually come in here direct after getting an email for an updated topic. Where's that dunce smilie gone?
  5. I think it's very hard to argue against the safety of allowing them in the section. I know what you mean - stop the minders and the sections will have to be easier, but what happens when one organiser doesn't quite toe the party line, and a rider does some serious injury. I'm sure the FIM would get it in the neck for cutting down what is essentially a safety net, rightly or wrongly. By the way, I missed the ACU forum report, is it on here somewhere?
  6. It's not the heights that hurt. 99% of all parachuting fatalities happen at very low altitude - usually ground level Looks like it's hotting up to be a cracking event, shame it's so bloody far away
  7. Hmmmm.... Hong Kong Stuey... straight off the plane, 20 month old nipper at home manages to travel nearly 3 hours to one of our trials... you were still polishing! Wife not let you out R2?
  8. Didn't notice your question until PA quoted it, but the answer is the same here as Oz: Most first places, most second places etc etc. If still the same at that point it's the final round that counts.
  9. Fair comment - I emailed Ian a couple of nights ago asking if he minded if i put this particular photo on here
  10. Ian (Webmonkey/AtomAnt) has been doing some shots of Ross Danby recently. This one caught my attention. I've had to shrink it a little, but hopefully not too much quality is lost. Add your class shots below.
  11. Well that's going to put some people straight off. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oz WR might be fun... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll get right onto Kinell. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you word that right?
  12. Did anybody lose a hydration system at the weekend, camel back, water pack, or whatever they are called. One found at the end of the trial dumped in the fuel vehicle. Also found - a waterproof riding jacket - obviously not ridden in on Sunday - it is too clean - In fact Graham, is it yours???? It's the same size as mine so come on, own up ya fat b%&tard If anybody hears of anyone losing either of the above, please put them in touch with me.
  13. Just been looking at your NATC rules, and they seem a little less definite than ACU rules. "Farthest cleans" suggests that you stop counting at the first section they didn't clean (section 1). "Farthest with least loss of marks" makes things clearer - it's sudden death basically. I wouldn't think there could be much complaint the way you've done it though.

    Sherco Exhaust

It's not one you're going to find easy to get past Health and Safety, and the Risk Assessment could be a bit of a sh^t too, so it's not one for the workplace really either. My comments were meant in jest but I suppose I better put in a disclaimer - If you have any doubt that you may cause injury to you or anyone else (probably 99% of people don't have a safe area to do this) then don't do it. But, if you have the ability to put an electric hotplate on a hardstanding, with very good ventilation (not just outdoors), with very little around it, and control access to the area, then have access to turn the hotplate off from a safe distance, you've minimised the risks. Apart from getting someone stupid to do it - in which case, phone Graham, he's done a load

Yeah - some instructions for the slower ones amongst us: Don't look down the end to see how hot it's getting Don't hold it over the stove - chances are it'll get hot Don't do it on your 3rd floor balcony Don't stand near the fec*ing thing There's probably some other's but if you need 'em you best not bother!

Just an idea following the last post, for you mini 125 pilots: Don't mess about with your mums stove, strap the silencer to the manifold of your dads car. Before too long, on a long trip, the correct temperature should be reached and the flames/smoke/etc will bellow out from both ends. Imagine your dads relief though when he realises that his car hasn't blown up, it's just his little angel carrying out some well planned Sherco maintenance. I can picture the look of relief now

    Sherco Exhaust

Right, I've had the story back from the horses mouth Graham Evans has done a few of these, by the same method - slightly different to the chinese whispered story I had heard. They wash them out with petrol, giving them a good rinse, then they've got an electric hotplate that they use for all sorts of other jobs like freeing up bearings. They put the silencer on the hotplate OUTSIDE for a few hours. Eventually flames come out of both ends and all the oil burns away. Apparently (not surprisingly) this absolutely stinks, so it's probably not a good one for you mini 125 pilots to do on mum's stove while she's out. Get dad to do it Maybe not something that everyone can do, if you haven't got an industrial hotplate??? but seems to work anyway.
  18. Well funny enough, on Saturday night, I worried about me too!

    Sherco Exhaust

That's the place. I've just emailed Graham (David Jones Newtown) and Ian (Doughbouy) with a link to this thread. It may turn out that it wasn't an official method but I got the idea it was, and it seemed to do the trick for a while at least. Hopefully one of them will step in with the story, or email me back with it.
  20. Only human? Only just human! His name was Aled! No front teeth and a manic grin, stood next to me at midnight in the urinals. How romantic I sensed his stare, just before I got a whiff of his breath. "Are you married?" So scared i heard banjo's Ahhhhhh......Deliverance.......Thought everyone had left me. Had to barge past his half wit mate, the cool one with the limp, and the toilet roll trailing from his shoe. I ran outside just in case there wasn't enough room to run inside the hotel
  21. Some horny thing proposed to me on Saturday night. Only human I suppose Yeah OK I'm holding back a bit Probably for another forum - anything goes???

The burning out with fuel wasn't just a DIY job, it was recommended by Malcolm Rathmell, and I think 'Mike the Mechanic' from David Jones Motorcycles spoke to MRS to confirm what to do, and how to do it.

Does it really need repacking, or just burning out? Doughbouy has a 125 which seems to coke the silencer up much more often than my 290. He had his burnt out, and made hell of a difference. I don't know the details, other than filling the bugger with fuel and putting a blow torch to it, so probably best to get the full details from someone in the know. Errr - take it off the bike first though
