  1. Thought Sumo was indoor ya thick ****er???
  2. Bikespace. I'm sure he'll contribute more than his fair share (sorry BS)! I'm just a big pussy in real life, hiding behind the medium of the Internet to fire my sarcasm at people. I'll be a mouse in the corner on Saturday waiting for someone to lamp me
  3. That sort of makes it sound like the top riders are the only ones that matter. Is it that the entry is so far reduced that it won't be worth it, or are we just missing the odd top rider? Unless there is something in place to force riders to ride the last round, there is nothing that can be done other than actually communicating with the riders directly and trying to influence their decision. Maybe that should be introduced? All riders must enter the final round? I dunno. Seems daft having the last round as the most difficult to get to - I know that's probably not your doing. Some riders can't afford to make generous gestures by paying a few hundred quid to get to a trial which they would just be riding for pleasure, when they could do it locally for pennies. I know it's not too good at all, but without unlimited money, it's the way things work.
  4. I'm not one of the ones in the age group for it, but that's not quite all the expense. That sounds like someone who doesn't have to worry too much about funding. For me -
  5. I reckon - change tack quickly - get an email to John Dickinson (as not everybody is web enabled yet), something along the lines of: All eyes turn to the IoW for the final British Youth Round of the year, and what is looking to be the biggest and most publicised event of the year etc etc etc. Do the big sell and see what interest you can muster up from the top boys, even if you have to call a couple to push them along. The others will follow if the prospect is of a real big event. Apologies - I may be talking boll**ks here, as I know very little about the youth scene, and I know nothing of what you may have tried already, but at this point in time I reckon positivity is the way to go. I can understand your frustration, but still time to affect decisions presumably?
  6. Sorry - I'm not the more experienced source The Clive trial I think you were on about the other week, I tried the 4T on I think section 2 a few times. I shoved it in 2nd gear like I would with my 290 - I just couldn't move - I couldn't get the feel of what the wheel was doing. I knocked it up in to 3rd and had another go, and it was a different bike - cleaned it. 3rd on the 290 would have been a bit 'runaway' in a tight section like that, but the 4T felt much better in 3rd. I don't know if this fits in with any particular rules for riding 4 strokes in mud?
  7. I only bought my replacement ones because I destroyed the original Sherco ones. The original's don't take much bending (or is it me). I'd straightened them a few times but they tended to bend every time I dropped them down a rock face I've given these a fair battering now - and I'm roughly 120Kg
  8. Hi both - hopefully my alcohol induced banter didn't cause any offence - all meant in good humour I shall have to buy you a pint at Hawkstone if you are there. I'll be the ugliest one there (apart from Andy), just give me a knock. You'll know if you get Andy instead - you'll never get the bloody pint
  9. About 9 pints. Sounds like you need a pint too - put your handbag down - I'm just teasin'
  10. Gonna buy one then? Or just throwing the politically correct stuff round 'cos it's trendy
  11. I quite like it too, 10/10 for effort. You two would get on with my old man Does this description fit either of you two,,,,just wondering. 65 year old, never happy with the most perfect of machines, it'll need tweaking somehow, and it must have at least a few extra 'brackets'. Bike shops love seeing him walk up the street 'cos he'll find the ugliest bike in the shop "interesting". I'm sure they uncover lost hopes when they see him park up. There's a reason it's been in the shop for 9 years dad - it's unsellable. Within 6 months you'll see another 'interesting' bike and you'll want rid of this one, but it will take you another 9 years to find someone as 'interested' as you were. No offence meant, just joking but is that either of you?
  12. The "Why?" section doesn't answer it for me. It's probably a lovely bit of engineering, but: why drum brakes? why rigid tubing for coolant? why silencer at sump shield level? carb looks to be tilted a long way forward. Will it run down hill? Can't see a mention of weight, but it looks like about 2 Gassers? why so ugly? If it's just an engineering project then I could imagine the enjoyment from it, but hopefully he's not marketing it? Seems to have picked the worst bits of 3 decades and combined them in one monster. Please don't let it be anyone on TC - I'll die.
  13. That could be the Glen Helen hotel in St Johns, so it's a bit away from Douglas over towards Peel. (Edit: Can't beat local knowledge - Cubby beat me to it) If anybody really is struggling it may be worth trying the bigger hotels, especially if you're after twin rooms as they work out relatively cheap. We're staying in Staki's this year. For two people in a twin room it was

    Chain Problems

I bought an 'O' Ring once, but I only just made it home. Only had to carry it half a mile in a carrier bag, but it had sapped all my energy already. They should be carried in a lead container to avoid this kind of danger - any further I may not have made it home just from the O-Ring bombardment. And it doesn't wear off, they have a half-life of 86 years very similar to that of plutonium. Sorry What d'ya mean Luke?
  15. Some vids from tonight - I'm impressed for a 12 year old after his first couple of bike trials, heading up to the World Championships this weekend - Good Luck!!! Temporary - Short Notice Vid Page P.S. If all the links don't work yet, they're still uploading to the server - they'll be there soon - I'll get up to date one day and upgrade from 512k
  16. Bloody hell - can't believe I never thought of it - it seems obvious now. G-clamp would do the trick nicely. Charlie - I'm beginning to believe you're not nearly as thick as you look, and you're nowhere near as thick as I look
  17. Well impressed with Sam's progress. He was looking good on the Sherco, but showing even more potential on the Monty. We had a bbq the other night, and he was jumping off the garden shed, no problem. Spent all evening hopping about - I was knackered just watching him. We'll have to get some vid's done, I can shove 'em on our web and link to them from here.
  18. Wooly sherco's ......er why Don't encourage him
  19. You get a lie in on day 2 though Is there a rider list somewhere on line? No idea where I put my stuff - It'll turn up
  20. 9 times out of 10 I can get it off with my feet. On the other, I nip it down to the local tyre place and get them to break the bead for me. I've thought about a bead breaker, but just too bloody tight to actually buy one I think the biggest advantage would be when the tyre is dirty. I had a puncture earlier this year at a trial, full of mud, I wanted to shove a tube in it, and just could not break the bead. Even tried reversing my car over the tyre
  21. Think yourself lucky - it's a bloody honour for mine to turn up at a bike event. Still working on it. I like her to see where my money is spent she thinks I waste it
