I agree with Wayne Weedon. If the motor has good compression, that is a good basic bike for restoration and it has one of the finest Sherpa motors ever made, Model 80 - top 250 bike in its day in my opinion! Big John

I'm not in favour of monoshock bikes converted to twinshocks, in fact to be blunt I'm totally opposed to the concept - full stop. I think its just taking the p*** to a new (modern) level. I'm quite sure that one day there may be a class for air-cooled monos like the JCM; Yamaha TY250R; early Beta TR33 etc etc and lads will have fun riding them, but as Yamaha TY250R twin-shock, forget it! I have a nice 1989 Yam TY mono and would never consider chopping it, in fact my eldest lad borrowed it and rode it at a Dunfermline SACU Support round a few weeks back, "just for the craic" and really enjoyed riding a bike that I bought when he could hardly walk, never mind ride a push-bike. I have ammassed a fair number of twin-shock bikes over the past few years and it hasn't cost me a fortune, admittedly, I have spent a considerable amount of money on AJS, Matchless and Honda RTL bikes over the last 20 years for my own enjoyment and I have never bought any of my bikes as an investment, it's just because I like them and it brings enjoyment just owning them as well as occassionally riding them! The Canadian importer seems to have taken things a bit to heart, but when I tried to get on their website, it seems to have disappeared or maybe it was offline, but I can't get Xispa Canada. I presume you meant to write please "expand" not "expound"? I know that Border Bikes in Berwick (just outside Scotland by a few miles) are advertising them and a lad I know in Northumberland has one at the moment, but as far as Scotland is concerned, I haven't actually seen one in action up here...yet! It's taking an enormously long time getting this product out in the market and in this current economic situation, well... that's all I'm saying for now. Big John

My youngest son had an '06 125 Rev3 and it had a Dellorto carb fitted as standard, it used to rev high on the choke from cold, and as you say I "feathered" the choke lever until it would run without. It's a bit nerve racking to say the least! Big John

Make sure its getting air into the fuel tank via the overflow pipe, we had one which had a blocked/faulty breather pipe on the tank cap. Also what about if you have an in-line fule filter is it clear? Big John
