  1. Hi Guy's Hi OTF You know you don't mean that! You know that all the above "Bantams" should be in a "BRITSHOCK" class or better still The "TRICK-SHOCK" class. And you will find most of these bikes are having just has much money thrown at them, and probably costing has much as putting say a decent "ARIEL" together. It is amazing how many new ventures have started up building parts for the humble BSA BANTAM. "Trials" bike, So how much is a five speed trials cluster? Even the cases are starting to look like somthing from Japan. Has enyone come up with a "AirCooled" radiator for them yet?? Regards Charlie.
  2. Hi Guy's. Hi Andy. Give Porl Joynes, at Redditch Shot Blasting a ring. Regards Charlie.
  3. Hi Guy's, Hi OTF Agree totaly with wht you say. Go on then build one up! you now you want too :banana2: Regards Charlie.
  4. Hi Guy's. I understand what you all are saying. And if Oxfordshire was Yorkshire, I would have no problems . We just dont have the same Classic trials comunity down here or the venue's to ride. I have thought about moving to Yorkshire (but you would not want me)!! if my health was better, just so that I, and my sons and freinds could ride a so called "Pre65" trial most week ends. So what do you do to get more young lad's (lasses) riding a proper shaped trial's motorcycle. Answer build one out of the parts you have about,( with the help from there dad's or mates), Or add a pair of shocks to an out of date air cooled mono,ETC or a bike with a blown engine ,fit some thing that is cheap to get hold of (endless fun in it's self.) We know the field bike they turn up on wont last very long, as ambition will drive them to build, or buy, somthing better, or they will give up!! But at least they will have tried a sport, where before the cost of building, today, most so called "Pre65'S","Twinshocks" they would have never tried in the first place ? Agree??? Regards Charlie.
  5. Hi Guy's Hi Pete, We Know you guy's dont do it for the money. This land is a long way from NZ. And If you think clubs like "Stratford MCC" do it for the money, you are very much mistaken. But I can say that all events these guys put on, and the work they put in, to acomplish these events, are second to none. I seriously dont know where some of you guy's are coming from at times!!!! :wall: Regards Charlie.
  6. Hi Guy's. Just thought I better post this into the right spot. It is time to consider every option we have to get new blood into the sport. And OTF has already said they have this type of class in the Peak Classic trials , so there is a start. Anyway this is what I posted onto Pre 65. Just think about it. Hi Guy's Hi ElGringo. What you have said in your piece, makes me think, that what a friend and I have been thinking, is probably one way forward to get more riders into the sport.CHEAPLY. What we were considering was a "Trick-Shock" class, where the only stipulation for the bike being built would be. "A"] to use and air cooled engine of any origin. "B"] drum brakes, and "C"] two shocks on the back, any thing else would be what you have to hand or find kicking around. Example. I have a New Chinese 230 engine sat in the back kitchen price

  8. Hi Guy's One big question???? Take a look at all one hundred plus shots that were taken from this trial. Then ask yourself, will I see this number, or any of these bikes, in competition or even out of there sheds for the next twelve months??? so where do they go???? Regards Charlie.
  9. Hi Guy's. The VMCC have noticed the numbers going down so they`ve been running `training days`, where you get to ride 25-30 bikes for about
  10. Hi Guy's. Realy three speed? and full frame loop? How about the forks? Regards Charlie.
  11. Hi Guy's. Hi Steve, The engine is a BSA C15 "F" type the same as Scott used to win the British Experts in 1965, It also has the timing side bearing convertion that was done on the works bikes about this time. I am just rebuilding the engine with new to me crankcases that are better than the ones I started with. You can follow the build up of three C15 engines on my www.bsaotter.com web site. Regards Charlie.
  12. Hi Guy's. Hi Andy. You need to make shure the oil pump is working OK and check that the timing side main bearing bush is free from play.If you have the head and barrel off, just also check that there is no play, (movment ). in the big end as this could be a plain bearing item. Mainly just check for wear on any components.OK Regards Charlie
  13. Hi Guy's. Hi Mark, I can do that. PM me if you need some made, I have the SM type mould that I took from a SM case. REgards Charlie.
  14. Hi Guy's, Love the bike, Try this link. http://www.trialsbits.co.uk/index.php?cPath=85_86_98 Regards Charlie.
  15. Hi Guy's. Hi Dave, You get a ride in that Scottish event, and you have an Ariel to ride. OK. Regards Charlie.
  16. Hi Guy's. WOW I am not getting through at last am I. Seriously, thanks for all of the comenents. Woody, What you have said is very sensible, and very much the case in every aspect. You being a very comptent and fit young man(well a lot younger than me) at riding trials, perhaps can't quite, see that certain sections for some old geesers in the SM rounds are still on the tough side and can get exhausting towards the end of thirty miles. But that is down to the ACU to sort with some guidlines perhaps( Oh dear I do feel I may be getting into deep water). And what you have just said OTF, I hope is the case, we will see!!!! I know there are younger riders out there that just love riding Old Brit Trials Bikes aswell. But where are they when you need them???? :icon_salut: Regards Charlie.
  17. Hi Guy's. Hi, Big-Red- Bike. I am not getting at people like you and glad you enjoy your riding. But How many bikes in the same catigory, as you are there in the trials you ride in, ??? 12- 24, or less, or more, ? or are there Fifty? there could be, if we could get these bikes back out in a social event, where every one was thinking along the same lines, Lets have a fun day out on our old bikes!! Regards Charlie.
  18. Hi Guy's. LOOK, PRE65, Deryk, what did you start. This is not what I am getting at. If you want to go down that route all trials bikes from the first ever built have been cheat bikes, And factory bikes where never like you could buy over the counter, and they cheated by using each others parts in desqiuse, just like today. And has soon as you bought a bike you started modifieing it. Sam and GOV132 was the first real culprit in the public eye, has he blatently flaunted what he did with this bike while other factory riders covered up what they did to there bike. And I have always modified my bikes. Back to the plot} I repeat It just seems a shame that people building trials bikes up for this so called "Pre65" class of bike think that you have to build it to the specification for this one trial in Scotland, therefore having to buy all of the Very expensive billet parts and big bore kits etc, and pay to have continental and Japanese forks slipped into reworked British sliders, for know reason than a cosmetic whim by some individul. When a truly British fork that was designed in 1963-ish and is available cheaply(and does work OK), but is not allowed, in this one event, and then banned by other clubs because they are not allowed in Scotland. Has I have said the jist of the matter is that these type of bikes are being built at expence, and so need outings to prove there worth. OK ,but then sections are designed to cater for these bikes, in the rest of the trials across the land. And some poor guy turns up with his big banger out of the shed for a Sunday ride around and finds what he is asked to ride around horific. He tries a few of the sections and then asks for fives on the rest, exhausted he loads the bike back onto the rikety trailer he has borrowed. He stands watching with wonderment at these trick bikes and cant belive where they can get without penalty. One the way home he is thinking if he could perhaps get away with robbing a bank to finance one of these "New PRE65" bikes. and the old bike is trundeled off of the trailer and back into the shed (If it is lucky). and that is where it stops for the next ten years. So how do we get them back out into the open for a new(Old) life?????? :icon_salut: PS, sorry about the spelling but I have not got the time, I have bike mods to do. Regards Charlie.
  19. Hi Guy's, I have had one intresting e-mail from a friend this morning. And it may mean that we will try and do somthing about the situation, with support that is. I will not give up on the heritage that I grew up with, and while there are true Brit trials bikes in sheds across this land, (and further afield), I will some how try to get them out of hiding to show and compeat. Just look how good the Colmore Revistment was for example. So Pat, dont throw that polishing cloth away yet. and you guy's intrested show me some support!! OK. Regards Charlie.
  20. Hi Guy's . I have just read through this thread, and not only is the situation getting worse, with the knoledge that someone is reputed to be spending
  21. Hi Guy's. Hi Wayne, And not one of them a "clone" of another!!!!! Regards Charlie.
  22. Hi Guy's, Hi Wayne, I totaly agree with you. Has I said, Built with love to be a bit diferent. You can just see the hours put into them, and not a load of dosh threw at them, to make them look all the same. I bet the owners treat riding them has a secondry measure. Regards Charlie.
  23. Hi Guy's Super bike's the lot of them. and you can see the time and effort put into every one, along with what looks like a lot of love. Question is how much money do you think each one of them have cost to build? More or less than the reputed 15-20K being lavished on one entry in that "Scottish two day trial" this year? Regards Charlie.
  24. Hy Guys, Try this link the pictures missing are in it. https://picasaweb.google.com/motomerlin/ClassicTrialsBikes#5090681971881170802 Regards Charlie.
  25. . All Trials are Boring to watch. Stick at a section and the best riders all ride it pretty much the same. That's not interesting. But that's not the point. Hi Guys. This is exactly why we ran the Classic Trials Show , to OUR rules to stop a Trial being Borring to the genral public. And I can tell you that all spectators at this event loved what they saw, and asked for more of the same.OK Regards Charlie.
