Billy, what would you recommend you should eat and drink during a 6-7 hour single lap trial? I usually have a couple of bottles or water or lucozade, mars bars and my trusty Old Holborn travel pack for walking sections. Me and ralph usually have enough to eat and drink before the trial (cakes and red bull) What is best? considering there may be a fair bit of bike pushing as well and quantities? Ralph said someone gave him a glucose tablet just before the river kwai whilst he was laying in a ditch sleeping and knackered, are they any good? he said it did perk him up enough to finish the trial

Just worked out I need to drink 2.7 litres of water a day then and Ralph you better get a jerry can for yours mate. I ve heard this clean water thing before? and also heard it doesnt actually matter what form the water is in, ie coffee,tea, squash etc as long as you have enough of it. Why is it so important that its so clean?

I had a mystery air lock in mine a few months ago? realised there was no fuel getting through luckily by just looking at the filter. I took the pipe off the filter and the fuel flowed straightaway? put it back on and it work fine?

Galfer everytime......... never had any problems with them at all

Neon, dump the fuel out of the tank and put fresh in, may be worth draining the carb at the same time. Make sure fuel is getting to the carb ok as well, sometimes in can get locked and not flow.

What a Trial and to be honest one of the best one day events I have done. First time for me and had heard stories about how hard the last ten sections are up the river kwai but thank fully not as bad as I had been led to beleive Dropped loads but had some good rides and a great day doing quite a hard Trial and a really good mix of sections. Well done to all concerned observers and organisors another event to book into for next year. In the end only me,dad and ralph went up, dad went up last night me and ralph drove this morning leaving at 5.30 from Oxford. Had a great laugh all day and the weather really picked up about lunch time after a very cold and foggy start to the Trial. Took us 7 and a half hours to complete think we just scraped in on time hopefully, no queues all day and everyone friendly as always up North Had a real Geoff Capes moment mid Trial when I started my bike and the throttle stuck wide open and disengaged the clutch firing me off a stream bank into the other side at 50 mph, made Ralph p*** himself laughing but could have been nasty if the drop had been any bigger than the four footer I launched off. Said hi to leggins from here, sorry if i was nt very chatty but I had just fived an easy section before and promptly made a mess of yours as well . Got back to Oxford at 9.30, so a pretty long day for us all but well worth the effort. Many thanks Hillsborough MCC, Top event and highly recommended to all.

He looks a million dollars in his new kit new helmet, new jeans, new boots, new gloves, bikes running great with the new clutch and other add ons hope all this expense will mean regular riding at last with me and dad. Powellriver, The carb needed no rejetting or adjustments at all from stock, Ralph has been a little slack with cleaning it every ride but the carb has not missed a beat once since he bought it. Its been used in streams, deep mud and dusty conditions and no problems at all, if I had the spare cash I would buy one tomorrow. The main changes to the bike are: Extremely smooth throttle/rev range all the way through No leaking of petrol Bike starts pointing downhill Lots of low end grunt and torque I have had a go on Ralphs bike and can honestly say it is the nicest bike I have ever ridden, and I have been on a few over the years

I,m with Dabster on this one, I would love to say I had ridden the SSDT but wow!! what a punishing week and cost, it just does nt interest me at all. The Reeth is without doubt the Trial all of us lot really want to do in the year, if we had a choice of 20 Trials in the year or just the Reeth, the 3 day would get the vote every time. Big single laps, perfect sections set in amazing countryside and 3 days of it, its like Christmas in July. About 10 of us are going up this year and we will have a great laugh again, We just cant wait. I do wonder how the entry list will be sorted next year though? all the riders who did nt get in this year will surely turn up at Angelas house Sunday night as we did to ensure we got in. I think next year it could be even more popular and more dissapointed riders who wont get in,

I heard that BVM's monthly turnover increased by 16% today and GPM by a further 2% for the quarter. Make sure you keep a good eye on the plug colour first time out incase the bikes too lean, and be really carefull taking the reed holding screws out of the block. The screws are tiny and will round instantly if you use the wrong screwdriver size. Put a little loctite on the screws when you put them back in, going to be costly if one falls out at a later stage.

Neon, there was so much crap (old Jelly like Sealant) in my block I was amazed the bike ever ran at all. Most of it was hanging into the intake. I cleaned it all up and just used the blue gasket sealer you can buy from any motor centre etc. Bike ran alot better once it was cleaned up and I think alot of my initial running problems were due to the mess Beta made assembling the block. Ssiegmund I have Boyesen dual stage reeds in mine and they are are really good buy, increased low down grunt loads and the bike is next to impossible to stall at low grunty revs, cheap as well at

ssiegmund, I have removed the reed block spacer on my 06, this made a slight difference to pick up from low throttle openings for the better but not much. It has the big benifit though of making the carb a piece of p*** to take out and put back in , also swap the boot around so the standard air box end of the boot goes on the carb as its a larger opening. To put back on, put the air box end of the carb in first, push the carb towards the air box and the reed side will go straight in, real easy

Turning this one around abit, the least travelled this year has been Ralphs 06 Rev 3, one trip to the Bemrose and 4 trips to the dishes just up the road possibly the least used trials bike so far in 07.

Thinking about getting a Nissan Primastar SWB or LWB, anyone here got one or tried one? loads of room and they look pretty good vans My 98 LWB transit is like a dinosaur now, very noisey and slow for long journeys

Mines usually 1.75-2 turns out depending on how the weather and sections are going, the needle drop should work nicely mate
