I think it comes down to, if you got it! use it! I understand some clubs are restricted to a small area of intense rocky terrain, other's have less intensity but a greater area to cover, many times I have been told by riders when they hand in their last card "that loop was a blast". If you are used to riding what I call the parking lot trial, then that is probably your preference, but when you can go to places like western Canada, Washington, Oregon and ride long loops with steep climbs and downhill, parts of the trail harder than some of the sections, it is a blast. If you enjoy the parking lot trial, should those who prefer a long loop be restricted to that type of event ? Isn't variety the spice of life ? In a way this topic is no different than which bike is best, it's great to have the choice, and the same is true for the type of event, which would you rather have! a long one or a short one.

I tried the Keihin RE, didn't like it, big flat spot in the middle just when you wanted it. Would like to know what jetting is in your carb and any other mod ? Didn't mount the ign module under the carb, and the new coil where the ign module was placed did you ? I did!! I'll try post a pic . I hope they stick with it!! cure the starting, I agree! that it should be easy to start for any rider all of the time. in the sections, has many have said, it is a great trials bike. Some mention EFI, on the 3.2 with the power it's got, I think it would be too vicious, I think they can cure it with the right carb setup, hope they do!! because I think it's the best riding bike yet. And in the 06 frame with shorter swing arm, it's even better

It does have the same clutch and feel as the two stroke, the power is very strong, but can be worked off the trottle at low RPM, on the loop you can pull fourth on anything and just work the trottle a blast to ride on the trail as you mention no need to shift. I rode the Mont, in the SSDT, that also is a blast on the trail, it will pull taller gears, wet climbs on the moor in Scotland, were easy on the fourstroke, when some had come to a spinning halt, it just kept on pulling, the more it lugged down, the better it gripped. The Beta has only it's looks to go on at the moment, not many have thrown a leg over it, I was told by someone who did give it a test ride that it was a wonderfull bike to ride, has you can see on the forums, you have to be 100% spot on because people who have not even ridden the bike, can give a detailed report on why they think it will be no good, even when they have no clue. The 3.2 being hard to start, cost Sherco!! and I would think it will be hard for them to get back the ground they lost, Beta are playing it close to make sure they don't fall into the same hole, too many keen to shout foul! sad thing is, they might end up with the brand they were shouting foul about one day, and wonder why the resale value of thier old bike is S1-1ite, what goes around comes around.

The first batch of Sherco 3.2's to hit the UK and some early demo that RYP got over here, were real pigs to start, later bikes seemed a lot better to start, and after fitting the upgrade kit, they start well. I can see why you are p****d Dixi, if you lost five grand, but your experience isn't that of every 3.2 owner, you say it can't be started reliably, I say it can.

Just looking at that image, anybody tried cutting a piece of front innertube and sliding it over the rear shock, secure it with a couple of zip ties, should keep it nice and clean

Of course you would dissagree!! you couldn't start it I had other people who would agree with you as they stood red faced cursing the 3.2, but I could start thier bike also. I have had four through my hand's as people tend to sell them cheap when they can't start them, I thought I must of been lucky and got one that started better than most, well seems I have had four that started better. Over thirty trials on mine now, and the hardest it was ever to start was after a get off, it flooded the airbox with fuel. I drilled a hole on the lowest part of the airbox, and inserted a valve stem with a clear tube on it, then a bit more valve stem on the other end of the tube so I could put a valve cap on the open end. If she get's upside down or floods the airbox, I can see, and easily drain.

Spud, I have ridden the Sherco 3.2 since 05, and still riding it, I also rode a new repsol Mont in this years SSDT. Sherco has been a pig to start for most who bought it, this problem has basically shut the bike down until they get the thing to start easy, not just so it can be started by the odd person, but totally idiot proof, I seem to be able to start them, even when they are hot and stall, but it is obvious many can't Feel, grip, power weight, price, go to Sherco, it does have more of a fourstroke feel to it. Quality, reliability, confidence to ride an event like the ssdt without wondering if it will make it goes to Mont. I have had no mechanical problems with the Sherco, engine and all the running gear nothing has failed, but it does require little tweaks here and there before every ride, the Mont for the most part, throw her away hot and steaming, and you feel confident she will be ready to go next time you want her. In the sections, I found the Mont got me up some big steps in the SSDT I have never got up before, but looking at my results I found I was loosing more marks in the nadgery stuff, to be fair I only had two weeks practice on the Mont before the event, I think the bike handles like the 315 on the front end, and I just can't get to grips with it like I can the Sherco, this is my personal preference on what I feel most comfortable on, and bet ten Mont riders would say the same thing about the sherco. I like fourstrokes, and can't wait to have a ride on both the 250f Scorpa, and the new Beta, for me the bike I have the most fun riding and the least problems will be the fourstroke I end up with, the type of trial and sections we ride in this part of the world, and the fact I personally like the feel of the Sherco 3.2 better for me, that is what I'm sticking with at the moment, there are times when out pratting in the rev shed with the sherco that I feel like saying sod this and go buy a Mont, but then again I ride a trial, do well and all is forgiven and it's back in with the bike. Plus there is two more offerings yet to try, and the fourstroke is just getting back into the game, I wouldn't knock any of the bikes two of four, Mont or Sherco, I will ride what I like best when all the offerings are in.
