  1. Bikespace, that's a neat touch with the compressed air. Mrs Scudo gets back tonight and I'm in trouble as I followed your instructions and any advice on removing scorch marks from the lounge carpet would be extremely welcome! How do I get the kids back as they are now in council care and under sedation for shock after I was arrested under terrorism laws for fire bombing the street!!
  2. Noticed Graham Jarvis has entered on the 290, is he back on the two stroke now?

    Overheating 2.9?

Just a thought, did you retarded the ignition just before this overheating started? Might have gone too far if you have.

    Beta Evo 2009

Just been looking at the pictures from the press release and I quite like the look of the bike. However looks like the ignition module was forgotten about and is a last minute addition, looks like it may be vunerable to damage from a fall.
  6. Dabster, is there no end to your skills of diplomacy!
  7. Hi Wayne, in hindsight water might be getting in through those vents in the seat area of the mudguard when I going through water, I'm using a fine mesh too cover them at the moment but I might try blocking them off completely. This drain valve on the airbox, was it a factory fit or your mod? Mines an 07 290 and was thinking of trying to use some sort of non-return valve to allow water out but not let dirty air in at the airbox base.
  8. Thanks Mark, I've already done most of your tips but will try the taping mudguard/airbox joint. Probably starve it of air now!
  9. That's not the problem, it's getting in to mine while riding deep streams etc. There is water in the airbox before I wash it off! I use silicone to seal off mudguard/airbox joint and it's still getting in. Thinking of trying to make a shroud to cover the airbox opening or experiment with jetski filters etc.
  10. Might be simple having a carb, but with fuel injection it must be nice to simply wash off your bike and ride it next time without checking to see if water has got in to the carb through the Sherco airbox.
  11. Totally agree with you Nigel, I think they launched may be 6 months too early and have paid dearly in potential lost sales especially in the UK. Only ever seen two of the new bikes locally and one of those was Jarvis riding at "The Cleveland" in march and the other was a visiting rider on the East Yorks 2 day. As far as I'm aware no rider in our Centre is using one. Not too hot on four stroke knowledge so here goes, if the 290's are too snappy we can soften them down by retarding the ignition slightly etc, is this posslble on the 4t's or is there simply no need?
  12. If my memory serves me right your 05 had an aftermarket special Reiger shock fitted did n't it?
  13. Do n't think it's just engine mods though Nigel as the original bike was the chrome frame model. The new bike uses the new black frame and the improvement in handling that the adjustable rear shock brought about and also better front forks.
  14. Many thanks to the course plotters and observers who endured horrendous weather conditions last night. Really enjoyed the trial and found clubman A spot on for severity for a saturday night trial. Thanks John B
  15. Keep trying. Better cover that back brake!

    New Sherco 200

How old is this thread? started in 2005! I was under the impression that the factory no longer made 200's but as Copemech posted I think you can buy a 200 barrel and piston and convert a 125. However the way the 125's perform now it would be better to just buy a 125 as they are fantastic little machines.

    250 2-stroke Or 4?

Have you had a ride of either bike yet? It would be much better to have a test ride of both bikes to see what they are like before you part with your cash.
  18. I've had the Airoh Titanium for a couple of years now and love it. Nice and light, no vision problems and you can remove the headlining and stick it in the washer and it's all nice and clean again. It has vents built in to keep you cool as well. Would definetly buy another.
  19. Hi Gaz, my old 04 Sherco's plastics were a lot more flexible and forgiving than the 07 I have now and seem to be of a different type of plastic. May be they are prototype Xispa
  20. I had better buy a spare front mudguard, front disc protector and rear chain/sprocket guide in future! Snapped or cracked all three in the last six weeks on my 07. May be the plastics are a bit brittle on the later models as I had my 04 for over three years and never broke or cracked any plastics at all. Are the white 08 plastics any better?
  21. Dealers pay the importers in pounds for the new bikes, it is the importers who pay the manufacturers in Euro's. Unless of course the dealer in this case is bringing the bike in from Europe directly and cutting out the Uk Importer altogether.
  22. Not sure about legal rights, but my thoughts are that if it had gone the other way and the Pound had risen against the Euro would you be paying less for your bike?
  23. Remember to wind up the windows next time you go through the car wash!
  24. Might be a coincidence but I've notice my 07 290 (standard model Dellorto carb) pinking in third and fourth gear recently as well. It never used to do it so it's either temperature related or the fuel I'm using. I clean the carb and air filter before every event using an airline to clean jets drillings etc so the carb is always clean. Always buy 98 ron super unleaded from Tesco's petrol station nearby but I'm thinking of travelling 5 miles to the nearest Shell garage and reverting back to Shell Optimax and trying that instead. I'm out this weekend so I will see how it goes.
