Steve - Testing the 05 and 08 side by side - the 08 ( as you already know) is much snappier, but I also noticed that the 08 runs way cooler - this could be because the 05 muffler may have a cat/converter installed. - We had to drill the exhaust in front of the muffler on the 05 to test with a gas analyzer. One big improvement of the new frame is the ease of top end valve adjustment, as they have changed the position of the frame strut on the left side. It's the 09 model that has the extra crank bearing.

If it rides as good as it looks it will be a winner both at events and on the sales floor Can't wait to get my demo.

Hi Borus - Well obviously the biggest difference is the engine - this bike will lug right down similar to the old style 4 strokes of the 50's, but will pull very,very strongly from slow speeds - I practiced using higher gears and used the clutch probably more than needed, but the engine is super smooth, and I also found the 5 speed tranny just fine on this bike. - I've also had a few rides on the Beta Rev 4 ( I sell both brands) - this engine is completely different and of course the 08 model is only a 250. Again I stress that bike time is very important, but I can tell you that the Sherco 4T is one of the most "Fun" bikes I've ridden for a long time.

Hi Borus - I rode an 08 quite a lot this year and the first thing I did was put a slow throttle on it - However once I got used to the bike, I refitted the stock quick throttle - My feeling is that any 4 Stroke takes a LOT of time to adjust to after a 2 Stroke. - I would say go ahead - buy one but just ride it for a month before you start making any changes. BTW this bike also takes many hours to break in the engine - the more hours the better it runs.

I would assume that the observing was done by clip board rather than by punch card? therefore rider B would not know his score until he got his results in the mail. - A very extreme and unhappy situation, but rider B should get the win after the section is scrubbed ( How many other riders did this "Observer" have a grudge against? - I would recommend he stays home next event)

Hi Spud - Although I have traveled all over this big Country from coast to coast and also the North - My favorite place is where I live in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. - The weather is fairly mild, but you can Ski at some of the best places in the World, plus fish or boat on the many Lakes in the area. The beaches are packed in the Summer months, and it is definitely a Tourist destination. - However, we go Trials riding most weekends, and can do the Mountain trips as seen on my gallery, there is always somewhere different to explore if thats what you are into. - The Cities of Kelowna, and Vernon, have great restaurants, but Vancouver is only five hours away via the Coquihalla Mountain Highway. - I see you have a Fantic 240 as well as the Beta - I have two of the very rare 240's that are in this Country. Hi Vinnie - Yes we certainly do know how lucky we are ! - That is the reason I left the UK to live in Canada! However, this particular ride is difficult if you are 21 - very difficult at 71, - I've been very fortunate to do this six times, - Seven at this point seems unlikely, but we will decide next year.

The only cross over we could find in Canada was a Bosch Fr 70CX -

We have been running the Outlaw Two Day Trial in British Columbia, Canada for 22 years now - We run Vintage bikes and Youth on the Saturday & Modern on the Sunday, - Lots of riders have a Twin shock to take in the Saturday, and then ride the Modern on Sunday. - We give riders a break on the entry fee if they sign up for two days. - The original event has now become a very popular series with additional events on Vancouver Island and Stony Plain Alberta. With gas prices going through the roof, it makes a lot of sense, plus a camp out with family & friends makes it a nice mini-vacation.

I seem to recall a well known rider by the name of Andy Roberton, still riding well into the week of one event - despite rumors of him having broken his collar bone. - It was only when an official pulled down the goggles at a check that they discovered the " Gamesmanship"

To be sure that all those tools stay where you need them - be sure to buy a hand made Canadian one!! Even Dougie has used these and Inspector Huddleston swears by 'em.

The 22nd running of the Outlaw Trial took place near Summerland BC on May 17/18th - as usual we had a good turn out of riders in all classes, and it was very gratifying to see Ben Buss and Matt Fracy looking after the Saturday evening kids Trial, not only are these young lads improving big time in their own riding ability, they are more than willing to help out with the work. - We had two separate loops with 18 sections on the Saturday Vintage loop and 20 sections on the Sunday loop. - each loop was approx 15-20 km long. and had a variety of "English" style sections. We saw some exceptional rides in all classes, and the campfire stories were great. - I'm sorry I don't know how to post pics on this site ( read old bugger - help Andy) but I do have about 170 on my site at www.outlawtrials.com

Factory bikes are factory bikes whether they come from Japan or Italy - I would say if Doug wanted to ride a Beta Rev 4 - the factory would make damn sure it had enough power.

Eric - Steve Fracy has lots of time on an 05 Sherco 4t - I'm sure he will see your post and respond - I have an 08 Sherco 4t, and so far nearly everybody that has had a ride on it thinks it's fantastic - I also ride Beta and the six speed on the Rev 3 is great for the trails, where the Sherco 2T with only five speeds falls a bit short. - this all changes with the 5 speed Sherco 4T - it will pull you anywhere anytime in any gear. - I doubt you would get this bike in 5th on Vancouver Island tight trails.
