  1. I know i'm going to regret this but I have to agree with r2w!!! well there's a first time for everything...... I have a tys200 and quite frankly from a personnel perspective it has more than enough power for 80% of the riders out there, the amount of go those extra cc's make compared to the 143 transforms the bike into a very usable package! no ground clearance but a very usable package!! If your one of those 20% who can actually use the extra power of the 250/270/290's then sell sell sell and buy one!!!!!!!!!!!! but be careful because if you don't know what to do with the extra horses be prepared to watch your scores mount up.
  2. If I was choosing a shed just for my bikes i'd be looking for the most lockable/security orientated shed available, something thats goiing to put 240volts up some bike thiefs jacksy when he comes into contact with the door handle
  3. From a maintainance point of view the Scorpa must win hands down, although the carby's a pain to remove all the daily run of the mill maintainance is easy to complete. All the parts are of a higher quality than most trials bikes especially the engine just look at the thickness of the crankcases etc: certainly built to last. Cost of upkeep is minimal, shelling out a fortune on the Sherco's linkages every year is no joke when even after a complete rebuild there is still play in the rear end. The scorpa requires just two bearings for the rear shock and even they will last a couple of seasons of mild abuse before replacing, Power wise, unless you can utilise a snappy engine to its full potential the scorpa will dig you out of more sh#@ than the more perky donks!! If you want more zap the scorpa can be easyly tuned by adjusting the stator. For resale value just compare the average prices between the two bikes!! I know people say that the forum shouldn't be a slagging match betwwn brand but the question was Scorpa or Sherco!!

    Beware

The bikes kill switch didn't work with the EXTREEM!! revs, in shear desparation he put his ungloved hand over the exhaust, the bike started to splutter and with a combination of hand and kill switch it finally died!!!! I suppose if and engine is pumping out that many rpm it can jump the kill switch, i've seem it happen a few times at trials, "Very Scary!!!!"

    Beware

My son has just taken delivery of a shiney new 270 and boys being boys didn't check the bike over thourghly before starting the bike. An item about 1cm sq and looking like a piece of brillo pad (wire wool) covered in Araldite (glue) was lurking in the air filter, it proceeded into the carby and jamed under the slide with obvious results. The poor bike revved its tits off and wouldn

Now let me think, what did I have in that year? A near new TY250, XJ650 and a 350 LC and I was still living in kent. The bike to the right is a LC 250/350 the countryside looks like kent, Whats the bike in the foreground??????? Just love the one fingure clutch action there Heath!!!
  7. My Scorpa TYS200 warms up in less than a minute, saying that, as with any engine I don't work it for a good few minutes after that. My sons Beta Rev3 puppy bounces, hops and p****s all over the place
  8. If your finances deem that you can afford a new bike get a new bike, as to which one? If you read the forums there are heeps of things wrong with Beta's followed by GasGas's then Sherco's this may be because more people own these bikes, therefore more people write about these bikes, more people don't maintain these bikes properly leading to more people writing crap things about these bikes..........etc:etc:etc: Therefore the Scorpa TYS range is the bestest bikes in the whole godamm world because nobody writes bad things about them and only praise is heard in the Scorpas Forum, this has nothing to do with the lack of numbers sold of course. For every satisfied rider there is an equally unsatisfied rider, who either bourght a lemon, dosn't maintain their bike, or falls of large rocks with great abandon!!!!!!!! Now your confused!!!

  10. Very nice!! I still prefer the original yellow though, did you cut out the pattern or get the professionally done? Looking at the scuff marks on the original red you ride with your knees to close together, (RELAX!!!!)

    Visiting

Arriving now on the 7th Dec and leaving on the 21st too late in the season to get a ride me thinks.......
  12. What work was required? it would be useful to keep abreast of any problems that may arise. I've been riding the 143 and now the 163 for well over two years now with no issues what so ever, and the amount of posts in the negative in this forum are few and far between. Pete, is your 125 the upmarket model? hydraulic clutch & all the billet yokes, footpegs etc:? I thourght any rebore over 143 requires the block to be machined to accomodate the crank? if thats the case I would just go to 143 which is ample especially when compared with a 125.
  13. She doesn't have to look too hard, the baby scorpa is an ideal machine, a lot less maintainance than most bikes as well!!
  14. Here in Aus because of the lack of non MX type trophies we have a lot of awards based around the events etc: this years Aus Titles held in the wine growing Barrossa region consisted of a sawn off end to a wine cask (contents not included) with a tap and plaque affixed to the front. Other trophies have been of sculptured Jarra wood, cut glass and many other inoventive designs some featuring clocks, barometers etc:. I'll post some pics in due course, If you have any other unusual (trials related) trophy designs, and feel they deserve praise, dig them out of that box in the garage, dust them off and send in a pic!!!!!
  15. I've got nothing but praise for the little scorpa, in fact I loved mine so much I upgraded to the 163!! I suppose with the money we saved on the initial outlay and ongoing maintainance we can afford factory clothing.
  16. Thats the kind of trophy i'm talking about, not that i'll be winning any!!!! Thanks for the link guys, i'll have to buy a job lot for downunder.
  17. I've just been watching the Madrid Indoor 2007 with Toni Bou holding up a pretty large trophy, and yep you guessed the trophy is topped of with the standared Motocrosser punching the air in triumph. Are there any trophys out there with a trials rider precriously balancing on a plastic rock or do we have to follow the FIM's lead and always use a MX'R.
  18. Never thrown away those old imperial allen keys, they always come in handy for undoing those pesky deformed metric allen keys bolts on the bottom of bash plates, inconjunction with a imperial 10lb hammer!!!!!!!!!! Doesn't matter how well you thin out your tool box, ie: 1 phillips, 1 flat head, container of only metric nuts & bolts, only metric spanners, only metric allen keys of 4,5,6,8,&10mm, one front inner tube, only new spark plugs, and one spare link, when you finally brake down at a trial you will only find an adjustable wrench, a 5/8 openended spanner, a used plug from the lawnmower, a $2 made in china screw driver set, and a 520 spare link when you need a 428!!!!!!!!!! Never leave the dubbin for your boots in your toolbox in 40deg heat with the lid off!!!!! If you buy an engraver for your tools somebody will steal it because they saw how well it engraved your tools!!!!! The more techo, expensive and professional your toolbox looks the quicker the handles brake!!!!!!!!!!! A chain oiler and a plastic spray nozzel never reside in the same toolbox!!!!!!!
  19. The extra 20cc on the 200 really does transform the bike, having just upgraded from the 143 to the 163 I can honestly say that its a different beast. I have spent a lot of time on the 250f and although a fantastic bike the 200 has the edge (by about $A3500) it turns tighter, feels more nimble, and is a lot less complicated athough I do have to put in 1litre of oil every three months or so wether she wants it or not..... Ground clearence is an issue I know and she does dig in occasionally, however I have found my technique has improved to compensate I have learnt to unweight properly instead of being lazy!!! If anyone has tried the Birkett aftermarket bash plate please let me know if it is better than the standared!!
  20. Sorry guys, but if you not intending to be scalling 6ft undercut rock walls with no kickers theres only one real choice and thats the baby scorpa 200. Being nearly a third cheaper than any of the new crop of 4st's and 99% as capable why would the average joe or above average joe need anything else??????
  21. The old (BlackandDecker) is one of the best bead breakers, apart of course from a proper one, there's always the front car wheel but watch those rims!!!!! Compressors over here in Aus are around $100bucks 40pounds "god bless the chinese" and ive had mine for 3 years and used it for everything bar brain surgary (can't find the right attatchment) Use a rubber doughnut for fitting a new tyre and you'll never have a sealing problem again. Takes about 10-15mins to remove wheel, replace tyre and refit wheel, how thats about 60 pounds an hour, perhaps its time to move back hometo the mother country.
  22. Great bike, love mine to bits, it almost feel like you cheating when you beat the 270's!!!
  23. I've just upgraded my 143 to the 200 after 2years of trouble free service, well I say trouble free she did get a flat in the rear tyre once......... I can quite honestly say that those extra cc's do make an awful difference, in fact on her first outing this weekend I won my class for the first time in over a year so she has a 100% track record thus far....... She feels and handles the same as the 143 but that extra zap makes the difference for those of us with less than perfect technique, as to how she would handle a scottish I would have no quarmes at all at competing with the big boys although a longride seat would be in order.
  24. tyre beaders are the only way to go, however I remember my son taking his deformed X11 back to the supplier because of a flat spot. After a few runs up and down the paddock and a lot of ??? confused ??? onlookers the offending tyre lever was removed from inside the tyre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
