    2010 Xispa

Nigel, Nigel, Nigel looking at some of your past posts you seem to take great delight in rubbing people up the wrong way, infact the majority of your posts are designed to put a dark & dreary Milton Keans cloud over anything other riders say. Lighten up, be positive, the more riders buying Xispas must surely bring the price of the others makes down. Phew!! now I know why I emigrated! that and the little missunderstanding over the loaf of bread............. Oh and by the way I do deal with the Aus Scorpa dealer, in fact his birthday is the same day as mine, however I only buy YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE of him as theres not much call for Scorpa spareparts as they don't brake.

    2010 Xispa

Yes the writer is a close friend of the importer but that shouldn't distract from the fact it was a honest unbiased report on what paulmac thought of his new steed. In some ways its a better report than the norm because it was penned by a Mr Average like 90% of us, not by a ex pro who can't get up the 3M rock as easy as he can on his GasGas/Beta etc: Any rider who has just spent a $$$$ on a new bike will not report that he has just bourght a lemon regardless of brand, thats human nature. I'm sure after a season on the pegs of your pride and joy a lot of these reports will be more relevent and honest. Some of the horror stories penned in the other bike forums should put people off buying this or that brand but we all know that never happens because 90% of us buy a brand that appeals to us for more than just performance. Stick a good rider on a TY175 and he would still wallop the majority of riders out there perhaps Experts should ride bikes of 20+ years intermediates 10+ years and the rest can use new bikes that would even things up.
  3. My sons EVO has got through 4 front guards, two rear guards, one swinging arm, one frame and still p****s out fuel......... Does this make it a bad bike ummmmmmmmmm!! Thank god my odd!! 250R Scorpa can still finish a trial, must be the rider since the engines so old and it looks heavy etc: etc: The Xispa's will have a few teething problems but the quality of the finished product should have been better vis a vis EVO, I see Sherco are selling a new cut price 250/290 here in Aus I know what one i'd pick Xispa Vs last years Sherco.
  4. Hi try this http://www.trials.com.au/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4910 Its a long way from bradford though

    Scorpa?

I've had three Scorpa's in the last five years and the only spare part i've bourght is a rear tyre!! Looking at how many TY's TYmono's TYZ's and SY's compete fuss free, week in week out I'd definatly keep hold of that museum piece. If that gasgas reaches ten years old make it your museum piece because it will become a much sort after collectors item shortly after!!!!!!
  6. Phew where do I start! I've seen bikes resting 10 ft up in trees, woke up after being knocked out and had my fingures inbetween the rear sprocket and the chain, and seen bikes impalled in burger vans. One that does stick in my mind is a 4RT sidcar outfit cascading out of a section, landing back upright then like some posessed demon (Christine) accelerate into a scoobydoo WRX parked 20m away in a carpark, the monty was unscatched but the WRX looked pretty sorry for its self.
  7. My son collected his evo yesterday and I must admit the more I ride it the more I like it, especially the turning circle for us dodgy hoppers. No fuel leaks yet, I noticed the carby breathers have splits pre cut in them I presume to eliminate the venturi effect. Good points: turning circle, ease of access, very stable (like my scorpa), nice and quiet muffler and physically smaller than most other trials bikes. Dodgy points: crap rear sprocket guard, cheap throwaway front fender, poor fitting of graphics, feeble return spring on rear brake and no heat guard on the exhaust. Overall the Gara on steroids is definatley an improvement on the Rev3 which was starting to fall behind the GasGas in terms of weight although for 99% of us doesn't matter one bit. A few quirks I have noticed on the machine include the large holes in the swinging arm plugged with plastic bungs that I doubt will last a few rides? another, the front fender being of a different look and quality to the rear? but it wouldn't be a Beta if it came out perfect first time would it!

    Tys 175

Hi Guys, My sons (06) tys175 is having problems, if the throttle is blipped from tickover the engine dies if you bring on the throttle on gently she picks up OK! I've checked all the usual causes, the mixture screw is 3 turns out and the jets are the right way around at the back of the carby any other ideas? My next plan of action is too check on the valves, does anyone know the correct settings for these? This being my third baby scorpa I am quite happy with dealing with most of the bikes problems (not that there has been any) but this one has me stumped!! Thanks
  9. Very nice there 4Banger, can I borrow your plastics just to save scratching my white 08 SY? Must admit there's a big difference between my 08 SY with a s3 pipe over my old 04 model, a lot more zip even after I adjusted the stator to the softer setting. I did however add a tiny bit of weight to the flywheel as it was a bit prone to stalling I presume the flywheel has lost some weight over the years to make it more zappy for the big boys!
  10. In the last four seasons i've owned a 04sy250, 06175f, 07200f and now i'm back on a 08sy250 with a another scorpa 175 that was going cheap as a backup!! The 04sy250 was a great bike however I was having major problems with joint pain so I opted for the 175f which was a fantastic little bike once the Birkett mods were performed and certainly a lot easier on my arms and clutch fingure. I upgrading to a 200f after a season and was amazed what a difference an extra 20cc could make, the extra power propelling my nimble 100kg's over most obstacles with ease. Of the two seasons I spent on the two baby scorpa's i've found my riding has improved after stagnating for a number of years on the latest 250's mainly due to having to work for a living to get the best out of the bikes. I found for 80% of my grades sections the bikes were ideal saving many a dab with their grip and ride ability however for the bigger stuff ground clearance was an issue and perfecting the more advanced techniques became a necessity. For the average Joe the baby scorpa's are one of the best bikes around and would certainly improve rider
  11. Ummmm!! good point, perhaps I need to look at some sort of parachute deployment device in case of dismount from one of those 4 metre rock steps, but at least the bike will fall on its tyres. Looks like the GYROCAT 250 will need as much development as the Xispa, any neonazis out there got a spare V1 for spares or repair?
  12. Whist watching Bargin Hunt last night in deepest Western Australia I noticed the presenter was on one of those two wheeled standup gyroscopic scooter thingy's. Question is could one of these be adapted for trials, or has any gyroscopic device ever been fitted to a trials bike or any motorcycle for that matter? Looking at the Australian rule book there is no rule that whould block such a device, but im sure after i've i've clinched my first world crown there would be
  13. Ham2 the wife and I were half way up the M5 when I just happened to look down to see the oil pressure gauge start the plummet by the time I pulled over the engine was smoking nicely. As I looked at the last few drops of oil fall out of the hole where my sump plug used to be my wife pointed out that the missing plug couldn't be far as it had only just dropped out...... If only putting the plug back would rectify what was left of the top end of the engine!

    New Bash Plate

Spike, I got mine from The Hell Team (Scorpa Australia) Around $Aus 180 90ish Quid I guess. Yep just bolts strait on, and its a lot better that the pre 08's
  15. Many moons ago I had a Rover 2.6SDI after changing the head over for a less warpped one I spent the next two days trying to get a spark from the beast as she wouldn't start. Finally resorting to handing it over to a local garage for inspection I hired a car trailor and whilst loading it on notice someting fall off the wiper blades and onto the driveway. IT WAS THE ROTOR ARM FROM THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP!

    New Bash Plate

Just a quick one for you TYS 125/175/200 owners, I fitted a 08 bash plate to my 07 200 and it is a definate improvment to the machine. As you are aware the only drawback to a fantastic and highly capable machine is the ground clearance and bash plate that can hang you on some rocks/logs etc: Although the ground clearance doesn't change with the 08 bashplate the bike slides easyer over obstacles and is less likley to get caught up, also it protects you side casings a bit better. So for a small outlay I recommend giving the old girl a face lift, you can even spend some $$ on the bike as well
  17. I remember my 04 SY used to regularly vibrate loose selected nuts and bolts in particular at the rear sprocket, most were rectified with locktite however the rear sprocket remained a problem I eventually rectified it with longer bolts that actually accepted the nylon lock nuts. Whether this problem is caused by the resident frequenct of the Yammy engine I don't know but I do know at the time it was quite common. A rider at my local club recently bourght a 07 SY and guess what, every trial he was forever tightening up his rear sprocket bolts! unfortunatly the only time he didn't he gouged a large chunck out of the swinging arm that had to be welded. At the end of the day I realise its a bit too late now but for every one else fit longer bolts, I still reakon its the resident frequenct of the Yammy engine as both my TYS's have never had loose nuts and I presume thay use the same hubs............
  18. Hi Peter, new riders downunder are always welcome!
  19. I luv the down to earth video coverage & not knowing who's going to win until the last moment. Even though its teeming down with rain we still get two or three views of the same section. So who was dougies companions?
  20. Sorry Scorpa3 I didn't realize that the Trial/Trail sceen was so strong in the mother country, I didn't mean to be negative but here in West Aus we have no such cutprice trials events, we have on occasion let an enduro rider compete in an event (usually the land owner). All have commented that whilst watching a novice attempt a trials section visions of being able to ride the same section on a Harley!! seen quite fessable, obviously riding and watching are two completly different things. In Aus a change of tyres and sprockets would be close to A$400 not far off a rough twin shock sh*Tbox!! Love the pics, perhaps we should look at incorperating a Trial/Trail event into our calendar?
  21. Why go a 250 4st the 200tys 4st is an ideal bike for a novice and beyond, and maintainance wise it's got to be one of the most reliable bikes around. Save yourself $$$$$ and go the baby scorpa!
  22. The only grade of trials that you could even hope to compete in on a enduro bike is the lowest level, therefore youl'd do better buying a cheap trials bike and competing on that then decide if you want to continue. By the time you've changed to trials tyres and bourght new sprokets etc: to alter your gearing the comparable price of an old sh*Tbox trials iron would be pretty even......
  23. I've spent a few hours on the 250f and two seasons on the 175 and 200 and for my level and style of riding I've yet to attack a section that the 200 couldn't do as well if not better than the 250f. Don't get me wrong the 250 is a great bike with a bulletproof Yam motor but compared to my 200 it does feel top heavy and with the more techo engine has a few more bits to break off and go wrong. With the 200 costing $A8000 here in aus and the 250f $A11000+ I can afford to update my 200 every year and only loose about $A2000ish the depreciation on the 250f is a lot more. If you are one of the few who can utilize the 250's power and ride in the top 10% of your club then the 250 may be for you, if however your like me, just mortal ie: you loose more points by hopping than you save then the 200 is the better option certainly on your hip pocket..........
  24. I've had both the 175 and the 200 (143/163) the 143 was a fantastic bike but the 200 is the buisiness especially the difference in the engine power and delivery. Clutch wise they both have the factory hydraulic clutch which I ride like a 2T with lots of stopping and balancing and I can't see any problems certainly better and lighter than most of the new stuff out there. The bash plate is a little low for my liking however I think for the occasional dab I might take on a slow drop off it makes up for it with a low center of gravity which = stability amd balance........... Does any body if the latest 200 bash plate fits a 07 200? I've rode 6 trials this year and all i've done is put petrol in her and clean the airfilter what more can anyone ask for , oh and I won 4 out of 6 most of the competition being on 4RT's and Rev3's. I think I must of lost at least 2 points due to the low ground clearance.
  25. Over here in Aus we get one 07 indoor and one 07 outdoor trial on satalite TV each saturday, I have yet to see Hawkstone, I know it was filmed because I was there! Has it been on TV in the UK, US etc:?
