  1. Alpine Stars for me too,yes they do wear quite quickly, but i feel they have the best ankle support and protection,a big help when jumping backwards off your bike up a big step or taking a heavy unexpected dab I bought a pair if the fancy Hebo boots, first time out twisted my ankle, more support in a pair of slippers, sold them instantly and bought another pair of Alpine Stars!! Try as many boots on as you can in dealer, roll your foot onto the outside edge of the sole and try to purposely put pressure on your ankle and you will then appreciate how supportive the Alpines are. 2. Isnt this post about cheapest transport?? Surely a 4x4 has to be one of the most expensive, road tax, fuel ect??? VANS Main advantages are bike is safe and secure at ALL time, room to carry more than one bike and gear,a BIG plus is that you can get chenged and take shelter in it in our rubbish weather climate, after doing a 6 hour road trial in -5 degrees its nice to get changed in a van!!! TRAILER Great as you can use a car and not have to use van as your main transport,BAD because your car gets ****ted up,bike gets all road dirt and salt in the winter, and unless you rap the bike or engine and it p****s down on your way to trial, you can get water in places you do not want it!!! MAIN PROBLEM WITH TRAILERS!!!!! Is the alarming increase in people being followed home and having there bikes stolen, when its on a trailer its on display to the whole world, unless you get a BOX trailer then you also get the change inside benefit of a van??? You can get two bikes in the back of a Vauxhall Combo van,the 1.3cdti are cheap to tax and 60 mpg,now thats cheap!!! Hope some of this helps?? I have had all three, small van, combo, car with trailer and now a Vivaro style van, which is just like driving a big car and returns nearly 40mpg,best vehicle ive had so far!!!! Benz
  3. Cheers guys ill let him know!!!!
  4. Hi all, I have a friend who is after a MINT 315 as a collectors thing??? He has seen a 2001 model but would ideally like an 04 as these were the last ones. Can anyone tell me the difference between 2001 and 2004 models, accept there age Cheers Benz
  5. There were a few at the Colmore on sunday. My main complaint with my old 4rt was the front end ploughing in tight turns, very little front end feedback in my opinion,no one shout at me please Benz
  6. Seen a few 09 4rt around lately but not heard any reports on them?? Was curious as to how they differ,i understand they have different fork and shock settings, some say different frame geometry?? Plus new exhaust system, just curious as to how people are finding them,as i used to have an 05 that i put 07 cam in and played around with TRP rear shock.. Appreciate your thought guys!! Benz
  7. Great news!!! Worse feeling in the world when you find out one of your toys have been stolen!! Benz
  8. Just to add i change a tyre yesterday and nipped the rim tape with tyre lever, tyre went flat over night. Took tyre off, cleaned rim tape,DID NOT TAKE IT OUT,found the offending hole/cut,put a puncture repair patch over it,left it for a couple of hours, put tyre back on,CAREFULLY,and bobs your uncle,no more leaking thru spokes!! How long it will last??? But this is now my spare wheel as i have a did set up to! Benz

    Sherco 2010

How you finding your Sherco after all your Gasgas's???
  12. I agree 100%!! Going back to point of this topic,to help the guy who has asked the question, his gearing at the moment is 11/38,i have suggested 11/42 for him to try as i feel that if he went straight to 10/42 that would be the equivalent of going up 8 teeth on the back sprocket and this may be too big a jump if he has been riding 11/38 for some while?
  13. your probably right,i never said i was an expert rider, but i understand the principles of the matter. At the end of the day its what ever suits, half the fun of trials is experimenting as its cheap and the bikes are easy to work on. I may take you up on the Northern novice thing tho,you may just be surprised
  14. Good constructive critersism there!!!!!!! This is a GASGAS quote actually!! Talk to any top gasgas rider,Ross danby,Dan thorpe ect ect and they will advise that they all run standard gearing, creates a faster spinning back wheel to burn thru mud,and as expert riders do most things off the clutch they are not concerned with the speed of the bike,or it "getting away with them " in a section as they know how to ride!! I actually quite like 10/42 for local club trials where the sections are more NOVICE like, but go do a national Novagar round and you dont want 10/42! Just my opinion
  15. Are you saying your mates Evo fels better being like a pogo stick??
  16. 11/38 is WAY too tall!!!! People may run this at the scottish 6 day because of al the fast road and moore work!!! Standard gearing is 11/41 or 42. Novice riders use 10/42 o slow the speed of the bike down in a section, but my arguement is,with 10/42 it will accelerate and spin faster!! I started a POLE on this not long ago, find it and take a look, some good replies!!! Benz
