  1. Personally I would get her a sherco 125... Theres a nice 05 in the classifieds at the moment, you may say thats too highly priced for a beginner but its not... cheper bikes are sometimes less reliable, giving her less bike time therefore putting her off more! If she doesnt take to it, sell it... for the same or a very close price, beginners dont really ride hard enough to wear out the bike. Dont worry about the clutch, just spend her first ride teaching her the basics of gear selection and clutch usage.. she'll soon get the hang of it! I was 11 when I got my first bike with user operated clutch, must of taken about 30 mins to master it. At 13 needless to say I do teach mates a wee bit of riding, clutch control and that... they seem to pick it up straight away from never riding before. So yeah, get a 125 sherco or gas gas (two easiest to control bike imo) and retard the timing slightly, as she starts to master the bike a bit more restore it to factory settings, once she has learnt the basics and is able to start to learn stuff by herself teach her bike maintenance! This could save you a lot of time out in the garage doing it all for her, and, if shes going to take the riding seriously its an important skill to have... I know im not a girl but sometimes I just go out to the garage, service the bike with some music playing, give it a good clean... kind of relaxing just sitting in peice working on the bike with your favourite music playing, it really does lift your spirits when its all back together and looking tidy!
  2. That looks good stuff, Will get two lots and sort it out! May even get some of the carbon one to cover up those manky bits of worn frame! Helmets off to Biff Thanks everybody, Jamie

    Gg Clutch

Even with the smallest hose it shouldnt be too heavy! I think you may be using a very heavy weight of gearbox oil... try getting some 50wt gearbox fluid with cluth additives then get back to us
  4. Right, Ive found a few possible solutions... all in sheet form, so, Am I best just covering the bike with it then trimming it and tucking some to the frame side of the plastics to help avoid peeling or getting it cut to the same shape as the graphics with a tiny bit of overlap? Cheers, Jamie
  5. Sunday evening at around 10 past 8... Just before wild at heart came on tv! Anyway, doesn't matter now, always nice to have a fresh start
  6. I read the five year thing and thought yeah... they seem alright, give them a shot! But apparently not! See the layer stuff... is it the same as clear tecnosel?
  7. It would be fine if I hadn't put the "2k8" part on it... Makes me look like a right tit!
  8. Well, to be honest I've been a bit of a tit... I bought some rather cheap custom graphics on ebay, they came and were awfully thin with the smallest of protective layer! These ones "linky" They needed a tiny amount of trimming to fit properly but they went on and looked pretty smart but after the first time they got wet the protective layer seems to have worn through and the graphics now feel like paper! I've sprayed allsorts on them, about 3 layers of lacquer and then a spray of silicon stuff... However, this seems to of worn through already! So... do any of you know of any sprays that leave a THICK protective layer? (bit like me really!) Many regards, Jamie
  9. Please, no, your taking the p*** right?
  10. Aright, no problem..... Was only wondering as I couldnt find anything written anywhere! Fresh start it is
  11. Looks good fun, nice pics. Those studs look a bit lethal, wouldnt like to be the one falling off the back on a splatter!
  12. Yeah, I knew about the engine Didnt think though, just shoved it up... I use the strawberry stuff already! Thanks for that... all pretty obvious now, same as every other sherco model... Would atf work? if so what weight and all that? Thanks again! Jamie
  13. Right, ive pm'd both of Andy and Atomant about a name change and not even had a reply... Any chance of having a change from my current to JamieHail or very similar please If this is not able to be done no problem, ill just create a new account and have a nice fresh start! Cheers
  14. Finishing off a resto project... 2006 125, what oils need changed.. Engine? Gearbox? Clutch? Found out it still has the oil from its first service after run in... Where do I drain the different oils from? Which oils need done? What oils do I replace them with? Cheers, Jamie

    Bolts

Oh right, I thought I was going insane for a minute then
  16. Well, to cut a long story short im breaking a Rev3 2001 model and have just removed the shock, now to me this looks quite an expensive bit of kit so will be addind it to the classifieds section soon.... before I do though I would like to know what other models/makes/years this will fit, it is a paioli with gas resevoir attached... Slightly like this but shorter, no visible rod and the tank is off to the side instead of the rear of the shock. http://www.bitubo.com/gif/prodo/scooter3.jpg If anyone finds a picture I will see if its correct then hopefully be able to tell me what other years it fits!

    Sticker Kits?

Soak the fenders in a hot bath, shove the end of a tea spoon under one end to lift part of the graphic. Now, remove the teaspoon, put back under the water and peel gently! This is also a good time to scrub the fender clean! As for the tank, REMOVE THE CAP then blast with a hairdryer... same as above, slip a knife or end of a teaspoon under, remove and ease off with using the heat from the haridryer to soften the glue... Now, give a quick scrub with brake cleaner!

    Bolts

Who said I was using alu? Just doing a hot spray on the heads so decided on new bolts.... if you heat them up really, really hot and spray them with your desired polyurea coating, (steel bolts this is) chuck them in the freezer over night then shove them in the bike! Cant even scratch them with a stanley knife! What kind of tit uses alu bolts in a high pressure area? Even titanium is a bit risky where you should have high tensile bolts!
  19. I reccomend the monty 230 urban... have one myself and its around 5 years old now and no signs of those nasty "ing" words! As for the disks there better in pretty much every condition but you will hear people saying you'll catch your rotors on walls and rocks.. this is infact a myth, I'm running dual disk and have never hit a rotor in the 5 years Ive had the bike! Theres always the option of choosing your frame and building the bike yourself? search for a few push bike trials forums in the uk and look at second hand parts... you dont want to go spending a fortune on your ride to find out it isnt the sport for you as bikes deprecite so quickly!
  20. Hmm, im sure ive seen a Sears stall at the local market with a big rack of spanners, do a hell of a lot with Bosch power tools? Will keep an eye out for them at the next market! How much easier does a decent scissor stand for the bike make work? im still using a log to perch the bike on! Got a decent socket set but nothing huge, will have to invest in some more sockets for the rear axle and swingarm! What type of allen keys do you all recomend, a few people reccomend the t-bar hand grip style but I prefer the classic style... Also, should i invest in a torque wrench? dont really feel like I need one as I have a pretty good feel of correct tensions but you never know! Thanks for the link to machine mart, fed up with screwfix and there three weeks to the highlands nonsense! picked myself a right deal on a record 1 ton bench vice...
  21. Hmmm, well, I reckon it has to be rupturing my spleen after hitting a tree, I was fiddling with my carb as the bike wasnt running right... looking down to turn the screw and flying into a tree on a corner... I wasn't too bothered about me but I broke a bloody mudgard!
  22. Not water.... if your using water make sure its de-ionised! I reccommend using a 50/50 coolant mix done with distilled water! Works fine and is perfectly safe for your bike!
  23. The 03 sherco! Not a biased opinione but definantely the sherco.... Its newer, therefore you should have less problems, Sherco have only changed there models slightly so most parts are still available... the gassers changed many times and will be harder to get parts for. If you find it to powerful its easier to make it smoother where as it will be harder to make the 270 more powerful!
  24. Ive got a wolf-air compressor, really good quality and will last for ages if you bleed the tank of moisture every week or two! Had my own for about 5 years and never had problems... Cant find the same model now but if you search around you should be able to find one, aim for a max pressure of around 130-150 psi, plenty enough for the bikes!
  25. Very similar to my thoughts....... Better get saving then Anybody got anything to add?
