  1. Hi OTF, the reason why is that I have had some new wheels built up and I could only obtain tube type morad rims this time, bit of a shame but it was my only option.
  2. Hi, is it possible to run a tubeless tyre on a tubed rim? or would it be a big mistake. Also are the tubed michelin tyres that are still available exactly the same as the tubeless x11. thanks ,
  3. Hi, and thank you , you have hit the nail on the head .
  4. have been following this thread with interest I now would like to add my bit. I dont think any problems actualy exist ,what I do think is that some of you are actually doing your best to find one. i think the worse thing that that can happen to the twinshock scene is to be too closely linked to the pre 65 brigade. Up to now I cant re call any particular problems with bikes and riders that have turned up on the scene. I ride with the likes of Dave in the Sammy Miller series on my "trixshock" fantic and last year we were all beaten by Mark on his Seemingly standard ossa gripper thats because he was THE BETTER RIDER, my point is as follows, it makes no odds we are only on a day out , cant we just accept that some people actually get some enjoyment out of preparing a bike that is just fit for purpose, me on my fantic with its mono engine( they are not that much better if at all anyway) sherco forks, decent shocks , fat bars ,modern grips, s3 sticker ! ,Dave on his SWM, as he said not really that trick ,he is just another chap that gets PLEASURE from turning out on a nice bike.Modified aircooled monos, maybe its me but I know of only one that competes nationally and he only gets noticed because he rides well. Personally I dont think its a superior machine any way its just the riders ability It does seem that the same old arguments keep being regurgatated mainly by those who seem hell bent on insisting that there is a problem. There are those that suggest that the club secretary ( quite often wife of rider just helping out ) should now be burdened with the policing of the ridiculous inspections , and those that suggest all of this red tape will actually increase interest in the sport. Here deep in the south west centre we only have one dedicated classic trials club that promotes 2 events per year ,all other riding takes place riding in class at modern events, and I understand no problems exist, people ride what they want to ride and we all have a good days sport, my god it must be stressfull going to an event knowing the clipboard police will be there. Happy riding, Martin.

    Air Filter Oil?

Re viton seals, try simply bearings via google ,good web site super fast service, they will have the seals that you need.
  8. HI, I ALSO TEND TO FIND THIS SORT OF THING HAPPENS , ITS GENERALLY WHEN THE BIKE IS GETTING QUITE HOT AND WHEN IT HAS DONE A LOT OF WORK, I ALSO TEND TO HAVE TO MAKE MINOR ADJUSTMENTS (AT THE LEVER) DURING THE TRIAL . THE BEST OIL THAT I HAVE USED FOR A LONG TIME NOW IS 250CC OF LIGHT GEAR OIL AND 250CC OF ATF .DESPITE HAVING REPLACED ALL THE CLUTCH COMPONANTS THE PROBLEM STILL OCCASIONALLY CROPS UP.TO ME ITS NOT A BIG DEAL THE CLUTCH ACTION IS FINE,NEVER DRAGS, SO I JUST LIVE WITH IT.MY BIKE IS A 300 BUT MY 200 IS JUST THE SAME.
  9. hi all, a question , I have changed my piston rings today and have noticed as I have many times before that according to the packet the top ring is different than the bottom , as they look the same to me what is the difference ? please enlighten me . thanks .

    montesa 4rt

cant help much other than when i had problems with mine recently, spoke to Pidcocks who were helpfull but basically said that they fault find by swapping parts one by one , which is what I did , borrowing a mates bike to find out my throttle body had clapped. These 4rts are not the easiest bikes to find faults on.

    FANTIC SECTION

regarding the fitting of a Beta Rev3 kickstart, does anybody know what modification is needed ? thanks.
  12. the 300 fantic when it came out in 84 was not received as a top bike by many,it came across as a bit bulky,a bit too powerful, and a bit ugly with those big side panels .It did not seem to better the 240 which was top notch, I suppose based on this the 240 could be seen as the one to have.
  13. here we go another whats best discussion! the man on the footpegs is the main element of success , all of the so far mentioned options are top twinshock trials bikes whether in standard or modified form.Lets be honest some of us modify our Fantics extensively (me included) but does it make much difference ? ,many a time a better rider will drag an old twinshock heap out of the shed and still beat everyone else . To answer the original thread, I would say any twinshock Fantic is competitive be it 240 or 300 or 200 or whatever, obviously the 300 has the power and torque (if needed) but the 200 has no lack of power either and enjoys the benefit of lightness too .Any of the above ,as long as they are in good running / maintained order will be superb. I own and ride all three.Regards.

    4rt misfire

Hi , my 4rt has developed a misfire, if you quickly open the throttle it will splutter and die. If you gradually open the throttle it will rev to the maximum with out fault .It is not the plug as I have tried more than 1 new ones.Any help would be greatly received.

    200 chain.

Hi, apart from the obvious advantage of extra strength, why do some upgrade the chain and sprockets on their rear kick Fantic 200,s to the larger 520 size? .Any opinions on this subject would be very helpful .Thanks.
  21. Glad you got it on ,but for next time consider putting bearing in the oven at 180 c and it should just drop on.
