  2. It's been put in that portable black hole........The Wife's Purse
  3. cater section difficulty to the competitors that routinely finish in the middle of the class. This will give them a decent challenge and keep it fun. Those at the bottom of the class will have something to practice for but not so difficult as to scare them away. Those at the top of the class would soon find it too easy and would consider moving up a class. Personal opinion is that "gate trial format" would be good for a fun day out. But Observed Motorcycle Trials is about riders competing on the same course with the same obstacles that must be ridden in the same order, and the better skilled rider will win.
  4. No transfer ports. All oil stays in bottom end and transmission like a 4 stroke. Basically just mix fuel and air in the compression chamber. All that would be there is the intake port direct to cylinder from carb and exhaust port. Hold on, I may have found a flaw in that theory. As the piston goes up the cylinder does the piston completely block off the exhaust port. If not then there would be a "hole" directly to the bottom end where the oil is and it would all go into the exhaust pipe. But if piston seals the exhaust port this should work. Somebody let me know if this makes sense or if I have had too many I can tear down an engine, replace what is broke and put it back together..........but some of the actual theory and design is a bit lost on me sometimes.
  5. Bottom end filled with oil like a 4 stroke? But the combustion is 2 stroke?

I am going to be changing crank bearings and seals on a TY80. Before I tear into it I would like to have my parts together, the only thing I am unable to figure out is if there is a center gasket or not. Did they just use RTV silicone or Yamabond and not an actual gasket? So far this is my list of parts I will need: (if I missed anything please let me know) bearings seals head gasket base gasket rings crankcase cover gasket Reed cage gasket Thanks on edit: I did do a search here, but was unable to find the info.

First I will preface my statement with this one: I am not totally familiar with the exact situation. Trials is about the ability to control a motorcycle, not how long you have existed on this planet. So any tie breaker should be based on ability to control the motorcycle. I.E. section ride off, Wheelie contest, bunny hops, balance contest, being able to urinate into a gas can 5 feet away while doing a nose wheelie. etc. etc.
  21. I have my killswitch mounted in exactly the same place for just that reason. Don't forget about bar ends being buried in mud.
