  5. Luscombe Suzuki Leeds British ACU Solo Youth A & B Trials Championship Rounds 3 & 4 - Franklin’s Trophy Trial Scarlett, Isle of Man. 21st -22nd July 2012 Preview The Isle of Man Youth Trials Club will be hosting the Franklin’s Trophy Trial, rounds 3 and 4 of the Luscombe Suzuki Leeds British ACU Solo Youth A & B Trials Championship on the volcanic coastline of Scarlett this weekend. A good entry of 40 youth riders, consisting of 26 B Class riders and 14 A Class riders, will be travelling across the Irish Sea to tackle the 2 days of picturesque riding along the rugged, southern coastline of the Isle of Man. Each day will be made up of 3 laps of 12 sections. From the start field on Day one, the trial will head along the coast toward Castletown and on day two they will turn right toward Pooil Vaaish. The pick of the bunch from the A class riders will have to be Jack Price. He is currently leading the championship with 2 wins from 2 rounds. He will be hoping to extend his lead over Iwan Roberts who is sitting in second place followed by Brad Bullock and Luke Walker. The chasing group are all tied on 30 points each coming into the third round. Any one of the top four are capable of taking a win and the battle is set to continue to make for an interesting contest. In B class, it’s Dan Peace who is currently in control of the championship. He holds a 5 point lead over Tom Hooper, who in turn is holding a slender 4 point lead over Thomas Minta in third. Billy Bolt took the win in round 2 and currently sits 5th in the championship. There will be some local riders taking part and will be trying their best to gain some British Championship points on home soil. Oliver Lace will be flying the flag in the A Class while Aaron Peniata, Ashley Gardner Jnr, James Everitt and Juan Lace will be making their British championship debuts in B. All the action starts at 10am on both days and parking will be available within the start field which is accessible from Queen Street and will be signposted from Castletown Square. Scruitineering will begin at 8.30am and there will be an observers briefing at 9.30am. http://www.manxyouthtrials.com/
  6. Hi Guys and Girls, As some of you may or may not have heard, the Isle of Man Government's Department of Economic Development (DED) announced some radical changes to the Manx Grand Prix for 2013 and beyond. http://www.mgpfestival.com/News/2012/05/01/Proposals-for-the-future-of-the-Manx-Grand-Prix-Festival-announced.aspx As most of you will be well aware, the Manx National 2 Day and the Manx Classic 2 Day Trials are held one week apart during the Manx Grand Prix fortnight. With the new proposals, the Manx Classic will be moved to the start of practice week and the Manx National will be removed from the bank holiday weekend to make way for a shortened Manx Grand Prix with a weekend of racing. It will possibly be on the weekend currently occupied by the Manx Classic Trial. Nothing has been decided yet. I know that there are quite a few people who like to ride both events as they are currently and in the past, only a week apart. You also may have stayed on the Island for the week inbetween for a holiday and to watch the weeks worth of racing that is on offer. If you are indeed a fan of the MGP in it's current form, incorporating both trials within the festival banner and feel that these changes will hurt all 3 events, there is an online petition for you to sign to help save the MGP for the furture. The proposals have been met with vast amounts of disappoinment not only for the MGP but for both trials. http://www.change.org/petitions/isle-of-man-government-reconsider-the-current-proposals-in-order-to-preserve-the-manx-grand-prix?utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition&utm_term=share_button_modal What are peoples thoughts on possible date changes for both trials and the Manx Grand Prix as a whole?! This post has not come from the trial committees. Manx2day is just my forum name. Thanks Gaz
  7. Yep, it's just one of the quirky things that the Gas Gas does. It's completely normal.
  8. I've had all balls linkage bearings before. pretty good to be honest, couldn't complain. go for it!
  9. Didn't Jono have surgery on his knee? Could be still in recovery mode after that? Jack Sheppard seems to be out riding quite a bit according to Jitsie's facebook page. Some good practice videos going up recently. As to why they didn't ride the Euro's, thats anyones guess.
  10. Despite the official closing date for entries having past we are still able to accept entries for both Solo and Sidecar classes. If you have been a bit slack and didn't get round to posting off your entry, don't delay any longer. Nip down to your nearest post office and get that stamp on the envelope or if you haven't printed and entry form yet, you can find them on our 'Entries' page. There you will also find a booking form for the Steam Packet which will entitle you to a 10% discount on your trip. It really couldn't be any simpler! See you in August.
  11. I think they will be similar with some changes.
  12. Entries officially close on Saturday guys and girls. Get them in the post after you have downloaded them from www.manx2day.com
  13. Entries opened last Friday (9th March). They were posted out to all those who rode last year but if you would like an entry form you can find them on our brand new website. www.manx2day.com
  14. Hi All, If you have a spare 5 minutes, check out this survey about the Manx Grand Prix Festival. With the Manx National 2 Day and the Manx Classic 2 Day Trials now under the MGP festival umbrella it might be worth your input for the future of all 3 events. MGP Festival Survey Cheers
  15. push bike inner tube and a track pump!
  16. Im 6' 2" and don't find it that bad. I have been quite a few times in the past (not this year). Yes it's cramped and the seats are uncomfortable but most Ice Hockey arenas are like that. It just goes with the teritory. Everyone has a right to complain but they can't do anything about it. It's not like they can move the seats for next year and give everyone more leg space or give you your money back. Like i said it's what you get with an Ice Hockey arena. They are all the same, except maybe ones in America. The only way round it would be to ring the box office next year and ask sepcifically for seats with leg room.
  17. Following on from my comments from the beginning of November, we sucessfully applied to the ACU for a double header of the British Youth A & B Trials Championship. Not only were we granted permission to hold the 2 rounds but we were lucky enough to be given a date in the summer (school holidays) rather than the bitterly cold February like last time! It will be held on the 21st and 22nd of July 2012. We have a couple of venues in mind which will be extremely well suited to the championship and will be releasing more information closer to the time. We are also working with the Steam Packet to broker a deal for you. As a club we are extremely happy to have the opportunity to host the A & B championships again. We will be putting in a lot of hard work in the months on the run up to the event to make it an event you won't forget in a hurry. We look forward to seeing you all in July along with the sunny, warm weather we have booked for that specific weekend! Thanks Gareth Isle of Man Youth Trials Club
  18. Speaking of which Dabster...I'm on the committee for the Isle of Man Youth Trials club who hosted the first round of the A & B Championship back in 2009. We were disappointed to see that there are only 4 A & B rounds in this years championship as we have always been extremely keen to get the British champs back to the Isle of Man. To be honest we didn't put in an application for the 2012 season but now we might just do that! We applied for a return in 2010 but we were rejected due to the travel costs. This year we have already discussed possibilities for making the weekend very worth while, i.e running 2 rounds (Saturday and Sunday) over 2 different venues with all youth classes, including girls. As many of you will know we have some great venues and all have brilliant natural terrain for us to utilise to a very high standard. Following our event back in '09 we recieved some excellent feedback so, we hope to take it all and build on it as much as we can. Our team is extremely hardworking and dedicated. The amount of experience we have gained is very valuable toward bringing on the future of our sport. If you have any views on us hosting a round next year we would very much appreciate to hear them. Thanks Gareth Temple
  19. Cheers, you too. I've tried all the pubs in Broughton but they're all full. gonna start looking around now.
  20. I have just been onto the trial website and discovered that the Old Kings Head has just down. Not sure how long the note has been on the website. If you are riding and have booked yourselves in there (like me) you will need to find somewhere else!!
  21. Hi All, Following on from this years Manx 2 Day, we are welcoming any feedback from riders/passengers (solo and sidecar) regarding this years event. All comments are welcome as they will all help us to improve your enjoyment of the event as well as helping us improve the trial as a whole. Please discuss on here or email us and all of your comments will be passed on to the committee. We look forward to hearing from you.
  22. I think it's his best one yet!
