    280I Info

I currently have a 2013 280i (which is actually for sale ) and i think it is excellent and would recommend the 280 to anyone. I have owned it from new for a little over a year now. They are perfect straight out of the crate. Yes there has been issues but they have been rectified very quickly by Ossa UK, who have been absolutely fantastic. All changes have been upgrades from the 2013 parts to 2014 parts so there will be no more problems. The ride is outstanding, suspension is mega and the power delivery is amazing. So very smooth and the way it finds grip is just mid boggling. The position of the air filter and air box is really good at keeping muck and dirt out. They are still in early stages of development but compared to my last bike, which was a 2011 GG, i prefer the Ossa.

    Thermostat

just been washing my bike from Sunday and while I was checking it over with the engine running, the fan didn't come on. Is there any way of bypassing the thermostat before I spend money?
  7. Hi guys, Glad you enjoyed it. If you havent seen already the dates for next year are the 29th and 30th August, Bank holiday weekend. As far as i am aware the Steam Packet haven't yet released sailings yet but be sure to book them as soon as they are available. it will be busy again next year due to the popularity of the Classic TT. We will keep everyone updated. Look forward to seeing you all again next year. Gaz
  8. do we need one? There isn't anything in the handbook but i have noticed some new helmets have them on and others don't. One which doesn't being my new Airoh which i got at christmas.
  9. A local chap on the island has tried one and he's ridden on one twice and both times it has gone flat. Pumped it up and it stay up but as soon as its ridden, it'll go down. No leaks when in a water bath either. Got to be something fundamentally wrong with them! Enduro tyres do some the biz though.
  10. I was recommended GP10. Seems pretty good to me and good value too.
  11. Well, I can say that the main bearings have gone on my 2013. Not the best news I had yesterday but, I am not the only one who had the problems. Apparently, mine is the third set to go in a 2013 model. The crank has been sent to Birkett Motorsport who I cannot thank enough for the help they have given, also to Juan Knight here on the island. The bearings are being replaced with updated 2014 parts. Despite these problems the bikes are still quite reliable and now that Ossa and Gas Gas have joined forces, the reliability should improve quickly. I'm gonna stick by the Ossa though. Definitely the future.
  12. Going back to how reliable they are, i would say they have good reliability. There is less fiddling round compared to say the GG's, i.e. no carb to clean and the airbox stays very clean and free from water. Despite that, manufacturer defects have been at the forefront of the Ossa. I've had mine 7 months now and have had 2 new selector drums and now it has developed a rattly grumble from the engine. Kinda worrying as at the trial yesterday 3 people in 3 separate spots noticed it too. Fotunately one was our local dealer and he has it now for a skeet. Potentially main bearings which is worrying for its age and i have periodically removed the flywheel cover and re-sealed. Will let you guys know what the outcome is. Apart from those issues i have had, i am extremely happy with my Ossa and will be getting another one. I do also have to say that i enjoy riding it a lot more than the Gas Gas i had before.
  13. It is 19mm and the most frustrating thing to do! I had to change mine the other week and not matter what angle I put the spanner in, it just wouldn't go onto the nut! Eventually got it. I wouldn't say it was bad design though, just overlooked! Still loving my Ossa.
  14. Oh, me neither! Anyone know when the next ballot is?

    New To Ossa...

I made the jump from Gas Gas to Ossa about a month ago now and I have to say I am finding the new bike pretty good. One local trial here on the Isle of Man which went well then the big test was the Reeth a week later. Having an unplanned trip to Broughton to replace a selector shaft after the first day wasn't ideal but it worked perfectly for the last 2 days so i have to say a big THANK YOU to Nigel Birkett for the brilliant service he provided (He had to put down a beer). It was second to none. It hasn't missed a beat since. The Ossa is such a nice ride, the suspension, the engine, everything about it is spot on. The torque from the engine in the low rev range is superb and when you need the power of the 280cc it is there exactly when you call upon it. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and will probably stick with them for the foreseable future. Keep it up OSSA.
  16. I don't think either would need a year to adapt and I reckon that Bou would still be on top.
  17. I have recently taken up the art of sidecar trials too with my mate. We are both handy enough clubman solo riders and are gonna have a good laugh doing it. its great fun, we've only ridden a chariot together twice and have picked it up pretty quick. its all about the timing between the both of you, as you are both solo riders you know what to do and when to do it. It's got a lot to do with the angle at which you approach things as well. You have to point the thing more to the right so when the chair wheel hits or digs in it should pull you straight again rather than too far to the left and off line. I'm no expert but practice makes perfect. this is what we got up to the other week. Excuse the music (requested by the driver) and any bad language.
  18. I have a Fiat Doblo. Brilliant little van and i can fit my bike in easily on the diagonal. Mine has the bulk head but i had one previously which didnt and can easily fit 2 bikes in. I haven't tried 2 with the bulk head yet but i reckon you could get them in. Enduro bike fits in too. A bit snug but perfect fit. I don't take much notice of the MPG but i can get close to between 550-600miles out of a tank full (don't take much notice of how much is in a tank either!) I use it all the time, to and from work and everything in between. It is a turbo 1.6 i think. Would recommend one to anyone.
  19. I have a Contour and mounted it on my bars a while back. It turned out pretty good. I thought the video wouldn't turn out that good but was pleasantly surprised. This is from Scarlett while we were testing some of the sections we used for the Youth British rounds here on the Isle of Man back in July. https://contour.com/videos/watch/more-bar-mounted-action
  20. I spotted a few togs about over the weekend...anyone know who they were and where we can see any of the photos?? Brilliant weekend put on by the club. The Saturday route was a brilliant run over the hills. I have never ridden those sections before and really enjoyed it. Shame about the amount of water about but it cant be helped. Thanks again to the organisers. Gaz
  21. Just a quick little announcement...If you haven't already seen on our Facebook page, last night we confirmed that after lenghty discussions with the Manx Grand Prix Festival committee we are pleased to say that the 2013 Manx National 2 Day Trial will be held on the same, August Bank Holiday weekend, 24th and 25th August 2013. No excuses for not getting your boats booked in time.
  22. I think it's time for the younger guys to show us what they are made of. We can't always rely on Dougie to keep the team afloat, no offence to Doug, but the sooner the young kids ride at this level the quicker they will adapt and progress and beat the Spanish! Young rider development should be a priority and this is a step toward that. There had to be a point where it was going to start and this is the year, good luck to them. Im sure they will give 110% effort to get as close as they can to Bou, Raga, Cabes and Fajardo.
  23. I heard a rumour that it's his Mother (also his manager) that happened! From what i heard she isn't very well liked by Yamaha and has poked her nose into more holes than Yamaha liked. I think the relationship between the factory and herself has been a factor in Ben's decision. i hope he goes back to Suzuki to develop their GP bike for a potential full time return in 2014 with wild card rides next year.
  24. Morning everyone, Well, yet another Manx 2 Day has passed and we would love to hear from you. Good and bad experiences are very welcome as we continue to try and improve the event year on year. This year we had the Golden Jubilee of the Sidecar class in the trial and that was a great success. The solo's were equally as successful with yet another new name to add to the winners list of the National class. Well done to Robin and Sam Luscombe for taking the sidecar win and local boy, Josh Brain for the National solo win. If you would like to pass on your thoughts on this years trial, please email us on manx2daytrial@hotmail.com There is always this topic for you all to discuss the trial and our Facebook page. We welcome any feedback what so ever and we look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks for your continuing support.
