Next year it will be 10 years since the application of full no stop rules, ever since this move the event has been oversubscribed, for many years prior to that, the trial was struggling to get enough entries.
I would say the change made in 97 was geared more towards the clubman than the top rider.
The trial needs riders of every level to keep a sensible balance, the good riders make sure a few challenging sections are used, the first time clubman makes sure that a few easy sections are also thrown in the mix, the steady club rider gets the best of both.
I think the entry needs to reflect this, and for the past ten years it has!! try and change that balance and I think you will loose one of the ingredients that is proving successful.
No matter what you do there will be complaints, being oversubscribed is a good complaint.

i do have a few thousand of thease wrist bands left over from the Goldendale world round, if you will use them, I will post or bring enough over to do the job.

21 SSDT's under your belt, and your still as a schoolboy on his first date, must be the water.
Got to be one hell of a trial if someone will go back 37 times, lot better man than me.

Sometimes all a bike needs is a good old thrash down the road to clean them up,if bikes spend a lot of time pottering around they are going to run rich, two stroke or four.
-
Could see that ending up on the front of Big John's Jag

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Modern back mudguards are not wide enough, or at the correct angle, to provide a reasonable frgistration marking.
At the request of the police, ALL machines must be fitted with a reasonable form of registration plate.
THESE WILL BE CHECKED DURING SCRUTINEERING AND MACHINES WILL BE TURNED AWAY IF THEY DO NOT COMPLY.

I can't find in the FIM archives anywhere that says Debbie was world champion female rider, what year was she Lane.

Retail for the 05 3.2 Sherco is $6800 not $7700.

Paint is heavy stuff, would probably add a lot more weight than anodising.

My take on it Brian, It isn't a new problem the MX boys went through similar problems with hot starting.
One thing I notice is the bigger the bore harder it is to start hot, couple that with a short kick start lever that doesn't give you a good throw to crank the motor over enough to clear it out and get a good fresh charge in to start it.
The little Scorpa 125 with a long throw lever is very easy to start, the Mont 250, has a short lever but fuel injection that is less prone to spitback and stall.
The Sherco 320 has a short kick lever, carb, and can spitback or flood a bit, getting rid of this is the hard part, some on their mx.enduro, large bore singles addressed this by adding a manual decompressor to allow the rider to kick the bike over a few times to clear the cylinder.
On the Sherco I have to go through a starting procedure correctly after a stall or crash, or the thing won't start, just through time and experience with the bike I have always got it going.
For the most part the bike is right and a pleasure to ride, but the punter won't buy them if they are hard to start, the next Sherco 4t will have to start well and consistently for the punter to spend their hard earned on a new one.
The Mont, has proved it has the reliability and good starting, from what I see the sales of the bike are improving, some will have waited to see what the first year brought before parting with a good chunk of change, others are making the switch just because they are fun and different to ride.
The number of trials riders on fourstrokes will increase every year, the bikes will improve as more is learned about them.
People like their 2 strokes, I'm not saying they should buy a fourstroke only time will tell, but I would never say never.

That would be the same plug as it came from the factory with then

Walther Luft, rode his Aprilia in the event in the early nineties and entered again on the bike this year.
Anyone know how many times he has ridden the bike in the event ?
-
Like they used to do when they had entries of 70/80 riders.

I put thicker glasses on and revised it just for you Timp

Well put lads, it just proves my point about positive thinking, will to succeed and determination to be the best, when I was reaching the age I was at my prime to take on the world at trials, I was skint, didn't have a bike, and I knew, if I wanted to eat I had to get a real job.
Thirty five years down the road I have discovered that if you want to be like the best and eat, get a real job.

They do tend to run very clean after the SSDT
-
Of course you would be with him if your Dutch, he speaks your language twice over.

I prefer the Kinell approach, 8 weeks of dossing and a couple of weeks to chill

Lane is whooping you lot hands down, he hasn't even broken into a trot yet, and you lot are floundering.
