1000 quid for an early dog, 5000 for a late minter
-
go have a few and come back BS.
-
That is all I'm saying BS, some lads are well up to the task of repairing their own bike, and some are not.
Im not talking about changing tyres, or messing with the brakes, but more complex tasks that need correct tools and know how.
-
TV advertisement doing the rounds at the moment.
It's always best to fix your own bike if you have a clue or not, give it some BFH
-
If it wer me, I would of entered you up as Katy Curran, cos you ride like a TART
-
I know nothing, but it does have a sweet BS touch to it
-
Can you wind it forward a few month
-
2400 quid for a win and about 1000 quid for not placing in the top five
-
I think it was a tatical move by the worlds top riders, by entering you, and the fact you would be in the first group out, on past form most of the rock steps would lowered by at least 6 inch by the time you finished knocking bloody big lumps of rock off them.
Unfortunately Doug has claimed James for the 06 season, and to tell you the truth no bugger else in the world would be up to the task
If you do go for it, try and get a titanium skid plate to go along with the titanium pegs

I now have two 3.2's my first one I have ridden since June 05, never failed to complete an event and still running strong.
Monday I got a 06 2.9 ready for a customer, first time I had seen one or ridden one,I found after riding the fourstroke for over 8 month getting on a two stroke had a very different feel, quick, lighter feel, but harder to control.
Trials is all about picking a line and sticking to it, the fourstroke has the edge over a two stroke without a doubt in my mind.
Reliability/breakage, so far nothing failed or worn, with no extra care other than changing oil and cleaning.
Between the sections a sheer blast, less gear changing, better pulling power, and ten times more fun
This is the first year of new generation fourstrokes, it will take a while but more will go to them than the other way in the coming season.
Those who prefer their two strokes, I respect your choice, have fun!! I'm hooked on the fourstrokes and will stick with em.

Both have their good points and bad points, but it has to come down to which is most convenient for the observer.
Do they have to run up and down the section to punch a score and be able to see the whole section.
The score card is the responsibility of the rider, a punch cost a few bob and it is possible to cheat.
A score sheet is the responsibility of the observer and what they write down, is what they see.
A dirty number or error can lead to a false score on a score sheet.
We have a problem getting observers in the US, so most trials are scored by the riders riding in group's scoring each other, or splitting the day in to two events and the riders taking turns at scoring.
Group scoring is the most unfair and inconsistent way of scoring often leading to false results, but if you are only doing it for fun and understand that the results are probably false then no problem.
I would think the easiest and fairest way to get close to a true result is the observer with the score sheet.

What I saw!! a prior rider to Doug broke the tape, and received a five for it, correct call.
The tape was repaired for the next rider, but!! it wasn't repaired and in the same condition it was in before the rider broke it.
It was loose, floating on top of the water and not secured to the pin correctly, water splashing against it caused it to come out of the pin loop and float away from the pin, The observer had given prior riders 5's for dislodging the marker at this point, the marker was dislodged and Doug got a 5.

Interesting post Austini, I was stood right at the place it happened and saw riders prior to Doug ride the section and what happened when he did ride it, I also saw the cause/reason for his complaint.
You saw the Video, what would you call the score, the observer can only call what he saw, he was correct from what he saw, full marks to him for sticking to his guns, Doug was also correct in complaining about the score given him, he excepted it and moved on, I know others would of cried blue murder and called the observer all the xxxxxxxxx under the sun, in the same situation.
I'll post what I saw a little later in the post, more TC readers will have seen the video what did you see, and what was the correct score.
I would say an observer who would give his favorite rider a clean after fiving a section is a dodgy observer, in this case who knows why the observer fived you, but from my experience most observers want a rider to be successful and the only reason they would give a rider a five is because they earned it.
This is what waiting in line to ride a section would look like if trials was scored hard, fair, and by the book.

I'm not a fan of the indoor championship but it does get more TV coverage than outdoors as it's in a controlled environment.
Many of the sections get used more than once, three rounds are in Spain that has just completed their own championship I can see some of the sections being used for both series.
But if it fills sports halls, and the riders get a bit of something for entertaining the spectators, it doesn't harm the fan who likes the outdoor world championship.
-
I'll just be cooking and emptying bottles, so I should get a chance to take a few pictures.
-
Rent a car ten hours west, on interstate 84 and you can be at the James Lampkin trials school Feb 25/6th
-
Who's your pick this week if any of you doubters have any British pride there is only one result for the world outdoor championship that will do.
The team will be firing on full four, the British fans need to do the same.
It isn't about bike color, this is about making sure no others can claim that their man won as many outdoor titles.
Machine and rider will be ready, will you.
-
You poor two smoker fans are in denial, not only is the writing going to the wall, Mr. Lampkin is going to paint it on personally with his big four bristle brush.
He will show all the world what it is to be great, if all goes reet he's banner claim eight.
He won't ponce about like Peter Fonda, he'll just kick ass on his big ******* honda.
Lots of pasta and fine pork pies, the poor two pickle riders best go dry their eyes.
Now when at Hawkstone if you have any doubt, go see old Arthur he'll give you a clout.
Although all the bikes may be made in Spain, the world championship cup will be in England again.
-
I have nothing but respect for the riders back then, they were the best of the time no doubt about it, shame you couldn't show a little for riders today who achieved a lot more than you ever did.
Now you go in your twisted way suggesting I called them Bum riders, when I didn't, I said today's rider is better.

Results 1 2 T total
Mart 12 + 13 = 25
Marland 13 + 18 = 31
Vesty 23 + 12 = 35
Malc 27 + 16 = 43
Metcalfe 20 + 23 .8 = 43.8
Coutard 22 + 24 1 = 47
Joe G 29 + 19 = 48
Mick A 28 + 23 = 51
Lane 25 + 28 = 53
Don Sweet 28 + 27 .7 = 55.7
So Marland just turned 18 and legal in his first world round pulls off a second place.
Larry Gurley in his first year in trials pulls off 16th place of 23 in a world round.
Comparing ability and skill, not equipment or sections, I am hold enough to have watched what they rode then, still ride against some of the guys from that event, I not only feel today's world round riders are better, but twice as good.
As I drove down to a riding area yesterday with one of the lads who rode that event, I asked him what did he think about today's WR riders, compared with yester years riders, " I watched them ride and thought I can do that, and did,
now I wouldn't even dream of riding one of today's sections".
The event winner also thinks today's riders are miles in front of what he did back the 70's, then again he could have a clue what he is on about.
I also think today's top US champ riders are lot better than the top riders in your day Lane, the sport was in it's first years of world championship, 30 years later they have raised the game, standards, professionalism, and for the top three or four, pay packet.
-
I just can't take it lads, I better go rest on the couch a while.
First lap results were Martin on 12 and Marland on 13 vesty 23 Rastus 27 John Metcalfe 20 Courtard 22 Joe Guglieimelli 29 Mick Andrews 28 Lane on 25.
Wouldn't say Martin was running away from the pack after the first lap.
I'll post 2nd lap scores after I take a nap
-
