  2. stewart3871 replied to montesa_man's topic in Montesa
Sorry, but got to agree with JayLael.
  3. As said in earlier posts, a friend of mine had an '01 that had a new stator.
  4. You'll probably find that most people will be charging around
  5. stewart3871 replied to lewis_gasgas's topic in Gas Gas
drill a couple of holes either side of the split, and tie-wrap it together.
  6. Bob, my suggestion is to ring Lampkins, ask if they can send you a cdi unit and a stator so you can try one at a time, and sort it by elimination. From the symptoms you describe, my guess would be that its one or the other.
  7. stewart3871 replied to sy250's topic in Beta
Yes they do one, although you might struggle to get one from Lampkins. I got one by asking on trials central. Someone will probably have a spare one. Good luck.
  8. Bob. all i do is leave the cover off after washing the bike.
  9. I could say i told you so....................but i wont. good luck mate, let us know if it cured it.
  10. Sorry to disagree with stevel and neonsurge, but my friends beta 270 had exactly the same symptoms as Bobs. New stator, no more problems. Bob, although the manual recommends champion N7YCC, Lampkins recommend NGK BP5ES, which i have had no problems with, and its the plug they run their bikes on also!
  11. search the forums under 'pinking beta'
  12. Not entirely sure but isn't there one at Addingham Moorside, where you just pay the farmer for the day?
  13. nowhere as usual, rode like a pot frog but still enjoyed it I'll be there again this week!
  14. BA. received my results in this mornings post.
  15. thanks honda rs. i,ll look into that option. its just that the bike is for sale, and the rest is in really good condition. Just tends to spoil it a bit.
  16. Hi, just wondered if anyony knows if its possible to remove dents from a Beta front pipe? Got one about 2 inches long on mine!
  17. thanks JTT, will try and have a look next week.
  18. hi colly. yes the engine does turn over with the plug out.
  19. thanks heathy. not sure on how it seized or why, the engine just died. when we tried to fire it up, it was very hard to kick over, and sounded growly. Any ideas on who does the re-chroming? (we are in south yorkshire)

hi, think the engine may have seized on a friends 1998 270 gas gas. any recommendations on who could inspect,/ rebuild/repair, or where to obtain necessary parts at reasonable cost? thanks.
  21. i use some carbon-fibre effect sheets, cut to shape as required. Its quite thick and looks smart as well. Got mine from SAS Motocross in swansea, only 4 quid a sheet.
  22. stewart3871 replied to nickerlias's topic in Gas Gas
i just use the BP5ES, as recommended by chris at John Lampkins.
  23. stewart3871 replied to hamster's topic in Beta
Hamster, I had the same problem during a trial on saturday although i've not interfered with the flywheel weight. The bike would idle for a short time then just stop. This may sound too obvious, but have you changed the plug? Once i changed mine on saturday it ran fine again.

sounds like you've lost fluid somewhere, as the reservoir should be around half full. I'm sure some reservoirs have a sight glass on the side. If the level has dropped as far as you say you'll have to bleed the system because it will have drawn air in. Hope this helps. Stewart.
  25. that must be the cleanest '02 i've ever seen. Has it ever been ridden? Only kidding, but it looks really well.
