  1. Good to hear someone wants to start riding s/c! The sidecar mounts off the left hand footrest by putting a longer bolt through the footrest pivot and then through a hole in the plate that is welded to the main sidecar tube. At the fron you need to fabricate a subframe the connects to the front engine bolt and then through a hole in the frame just beneath the headstock. I would be happy to supply photos and talk you through it. Robin
  2. Sorry Alan IOWMCC not the 1st. Sheffield & Hallamshire had 3 British Champions in 1998. Robin & Gill Morewood (S/C) Davy Morewood (Twinshock) Richard Timperley (B Class). It will be very interesting re the ladies at TDN. Forget who's the best lets just hope the team can go one better than last year!!!
  3. Trouble with using silicone sealant is that if rim distorts slightly after hitting a step or something the seal between the spoke and the rim gets broken. The best solution is to remove the rim band and put some grease on the spoke nipple / rim interface and then put the rim band back on. It's always worked when I've done. It was a tip passed on by a certain Mr Thorpe a few years ago.
  4. I run a 45 in mine and it seems perfect.
  5. It is a she. Vicky Glover from Doncaster area and I am pretty sure she is 17 years old
  6. Good idea Phillippe Berlatiers son rode an 80cc Gas Gas on the same route as the ladies at the euro champ in france on sunday and beat all the british girls!
  7. 1.Sainz 3 2.Kramer 12 3.Bertrand 17 4.Rosita ? 25 5.Becky Cook 28 6.Donna Fox 30 7.French girl - can't remember name 8.Katy Sunter 43? 9.Emma Bristow 45 4 brits in top 10 - well done!
  8. I know the bike and the rider and yes it's a genuine UK bike from the importer and was new in October 05. He then got a 2006 from the first batch in November so it hasn't done a lot. I've also got a 2005 290 for sale (new Dec 2004). Done about 30 events. It's very clean and tidy, road registered.
  9. And more nice ones from a site sponsor. Thanks to Andy at graffics.co.uk
  10. Don't base his potential outdoors on the indoor results. They are riding the 2005 factory bikes as the 2006 bikes are being prepared for the outdoor season and Miguel said at Sheffield that for indoors the bike was only a little better than last year but for outdoors it was a lot better.
  11. Graham only doing selected events!
  12. Hope you make a speedy recovery. Need to beat those Germans at the TDN!!
  13. Get a V55/5 form from your dealer and send this to your local DVLA office complete with a certificate of newness, an insurance certificate (on the frame number, a cheque for
  14. Yes go onto www.sidecartrials.com and send a request to Andy Birchall who runs the site. I'm sure there will be something available from the IOM where he lives as it's very popular there with 20 outfits turning out for club trials. Otherwise try Davy McBride. He was last sidecar competitor from Ireland that i know of.

    Who's In

I have heard that Ben isn't going to be Dougie's minder, but not heard anything else!
  16. Looking Good. Rides nice. Clutch is not as sharp as before I think. Suspension is much plusher.
  17. I'll be there. Just finished getting my 2006 290 fitted with the sidecar!
  18. Sherco wheel did change. 03 I think. A few manufacturers went to the 32 spoke hole hub and the disk was closer to the centreline of the wheel. I managed to have a 01 spare wheel machined to move the disc and bearing and have spacers made. It was when the rear caliper moved inside of the swinging arm instead of above it.
  19. They've not arrived yet. latest is that they are due next week. Could be a few turn out at the Peak trial national in the hands of Jarvis, Pearson and ??????
  20. First batch due next week. Not sure about price
  21. Totally agree re the section issue. It only works on certain terrain and cetain sections. It is very hard to get grip on a sidecar so putting us on same sections when slippy doen't allways work. However things like a tight cambered slippy turn can be easier on a sidecar than a solo. It really needs a clerk of course who understands to get it right. Sidecar sections are suited to novices and original pre 65, not over 40 on modern bikes.
  22. Sidecar championship has been around for about 45 years, a lot longer than the classic! One regular classic competitor swears the best event of the year is the Mel Harrison sidecar national as it has 'Proper' sections. Don't think you can say the sidecar championship spoils the classic, i think over 40's on modern bikes are not suited to the same sections as sidecars but real pre 65 solo's (not fiddle bikes) compliment it OK
  23. Here's the photo again for those having problems. Why Bother? Because it's great fun and as Rowly says the sidecar brigade have a lot of fun both in the event and before / after. The Handlebars! Nothing special. Standard Dominos. The clutch lever is just positioned as close to the bend as possable and then two grips are added. Under normal riding conditions I position my hand as normal near the end of the bar but when it's a sidecar low camber it allows me to slide my hand across towards the bike so I can lean out more.
  24. i've not heard of any sidecar trials in US but here in UK there is a strong following. The 10 round british Championship gets approx 30 crews per event with about 8 people on the expert course and 25 on the clubman route. Heres a picture of my current bike.
