  1. Strange We had the Gas Gas one Ohlins rebuilt a couple of times with no problem.
  2. Got to admit looking at that I do not see much wrong with the behavior of the rear wheel. If anything it looks a little stiff. If you have a good rider about ask them for their opinion before spending money you will want for a newer bike later. If you look at the video the rear wheel is not as stiffly sprung as yours is. http://youtu.be/Tv4m0kyfT0U
  3. In the UK you can pick up a second hand ohlins for £200-£250. Make sure the spring is the correct one for your weight.
  4. New Ohlins are About £450. Nobody dare ask about Reiger. A dealer did quote Over £1K for a replacement a few years ago.
  5. Depends. The links are a different size for the Reiger so you would have to change them as well. Probably better and cheaper would be an Ohlins Shock. My Son used to run Gas Gas and found the Ohlins much better. When the Reiger came out he didn't like it and eventually we changed bike make altogether.
  6. The rules you are running to are the TSR22A rules, IE a stop is allowed and not penalised. The Engine off and restart with feet up with no penalty is because the rider has the machine under control. If you dab then you are deemed to have lost control. My Son is a master at the feet up restart. Usually early in a trial because the exhaust hasn't warmed the air going into the airbox enough.

  8. They are tidying it up at the moment. It is very old fashioned compared to other sites so I think they are probably updating it as well. The Calendar has their Next Trial as being the first Club Championship on the 18th January starting at 11am at Tong. For further news you can use their Facebook page.
  9. Not as spectacular as it sounds but still a good example of what a Trials bike can do. Now for Dougie on Oblivion!! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-2865759/Daredevil-speeds-terrifying-ride-MOTORBIKE-performs-wheelies-backflips-tracks.html
  10. We did it about a month ago and the Kehin has been on since January.
  11. Chris has added some Boysen Reeds but the carb has not needed any tweaking. I would just install them. The Point on his was to increase the speed of pickup which it has done. Listening to it the noise it makes as it "hits" peak revs is very similar to that of "works" bikes when they do the same.

    Tr250I Feedback

Locally One of the SPen lads bought a 250 this year. Loves it and seems to have no problems starting it.
  13. Good Link for British Rounds and CJB have been producing excellent Media for years. Shame The FIM seem unable to co-operate with Media producers in the same way.
  14. It's ridiculous and started last year. DUke produced a 2013 Outdoor but didn't get a license for the Indoor. It look like the FIM playing with media rights to the detriment of Trials. Not the first time that Trials has been let down by the FIM and it probably will not be the last either!!
  15. There is Plenty on in Yorkshire as well. As a beginner BUMPY at Birstall is a useful starting point. It's compact but with lots to practice on. Once you get the hang of it you can get out to the other Practice areas and onto Beginners Trials.
  16. Essentially the Shock needs to be a certain length in order to work properly. If you are heavy and compress it the damping effect becomes more limited and the effectiveness of the shock diminishes. Winding the spring up to compensate is the usual method but that will only work to a point. A Stronger spring does the same job without Winding it up as much. The Shock does need some "sag" in it to work properly. Hence Childrens bikes tend to have a shock spring that is not as strong so as to allow the shock to sink when the child is on the bike.
  17. They Only do the 2 Fatbars. The 100 and 110. http://www.renthal.co.uk/mx-products/handlebars/fatbar. They have given you the Number and that bar is available in Titanium which is what the 2012 picture appears to show. The others are black and that is also available on that bar. Red is a pretty difficult colour to find on that bar and Chris had to carry the bars across one year as we couldn't source the bars in that colour, but the rise and spec is the Trials 100.
  18. That Blue Mark in the Photos is a Renthal Sticker. As they are on Fatbars I'd say that's what they come with. The Bars are one geometry which rises a little higher than the S3 bars that were fitted to other bikes at that time. The latest S3 bars seem to be closer to the Renthal's.

  20. I disagree. The backup is first class. We have had problems in the past getting bikes from other makers. The importers are at the mercy of the factories which ever make they sell. More to the point the problems came after the initial launch. Face facts. The worldwide market for Trials bikes is minuscule. Most factories are just over "hobby" makers with firms like Gas Gas seemingly moving from one finance deal to the next to keep afloat. Hence they are down the list when it comes to parts they order in which affects deliveries and build plans. Yes I agree that it is frustrating when you have sold your bike to wait but you can choose to wait. Apart from a REV50 back in the day I have never been able to get a firm date for delivery on a new bike that has been met. It's not the dealers fault and sometimes it isn't the importers. They do not keep stock they cannot sell. That way is ruinous for most Trial dealers and the majority of importers. They are not all "big" operators like Lampkin and Shirty. Ebven they are Minnows in the "real" world.
  21. MotorsTV have announced they are moving to Channel 71 on the Freeview Platform. This is a Transmitted channel not the IPTV it was on on channel 240. You will need to retune to pick it up and although it will Transmit 24 hours initially it will go to 20:00-05:00 weekdays and 24 hours on Weekends. Trials is a winner as they transmit Highlights! Looks like you need a HD Freeview TV or Box as well. They seem to be using Spare capacity on the HD Multiplex.
  22. Sounds like a supplier problem to be honest. Steve Usually goes out to get the first JGas's as Spanish Shippers can still be a bit Sleepy.
  23. The Bottom end of 125's is always improving as is the ultimate power output. I should think that it would feel better than it did when you were younger. The Original Ossa 125's were very top end. The latest ones have improved but if one was what you were after I would ride it first. The same goes for any bike you fancy. I should imagine that you can ride a 200 or 250. There are more of those about and if you are over 16 they would probably be a better bet. The 200 Beta is a bike many find has enough power for most adult riders without overwhelming them.
  24. I think they banned them from the Tough one over here because they could win it! They had a Trials Only race and the winner went forward to the Tough one itself. Here's the thread from thw 2008 race. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/17449-the-tough-one-2008/
  25. Chris always "added" his Kehin and Ohlins to his previous Marques 125's and the 250 and 300 we had. They just "tune" it to his riding style. To be frank He looks pretty good on any bike he rides to me but he will then tell you what the bike is like compared to his "ideal". He finds Beta's a bit "dead" suspension wise although the engine is quite good. The Sherco engine is OK but the bike is too light at the front. Too many seem to have been "slowed" which he does not like. Gas Gas he thinks have moved away from the "chuckable" bikes that were about to 2011 and the engine has not gone anywhere for a while. The OSSA engine is too linear, he prefers the engine to generate torque faster and the front end seems too low and heavy. We went JTG because he liked the handling and the engine in 300 form has a lot of torque. He does ride off the bottom end and likes a low idle so most of the work on the Kehin was to make sure it did that correctly and cleanly went straight up the revs. He Prefers Stop Trials and the Bike is setup for this although the same setup works pretty well in the few No Stop he does. Basically Most bikes are 90% there for the way you ride. Tweaking just matches them a bit closer to your riding.
