why would you abreviate advertisement to 'adds' surely it should be ad's..

as for poor spellings grammer etc in forums, granted a nicely written piece is easy to read and a pleasant change however more important is the thought and effort taken to put 'pen to paper' if i felt that my contribution lost its value due to poor grammar/ spelling then i would not contribute. i would nt want to see txt speak. but better something than nothing..

and for some of us used to manual work all day, sitting here is a little foreign unlike to some 17yr old brought up on pooters the first technology i saw was a 'red' digital watch

Actaully with the weather the way it is, so many trials cancelled this weekend and such rubbish (or depressing) programmes on the box..... yes, we probably have run out of things to talk about.

No need to get angry.

Just trying to provoke a bit of healthy debate, JDT

Job done - tick!

A few punctuation marks often help and when ever i get a text or email starting with " hi m8" it is deleted before i have a brainache trying to descifer the rest

Dave

I remember seeing an interview with Christopher Walken where, when asked about his unusual delivery of lines, he said the first thing he does with a script is remove all punctuation. For a guy who plays such scary roles Walken is a riot. One of the funniest episodes of "Inside the actors studio" I've seen.

I don't think this is a "healthy debate".

I think it's called "you being a conceited a-hole"...

It's a place to talk trials, maybe you should spend your time here : http://www.englishforums.com/

Yes we've had a bit of banter on a cold snowy day but I think that we should stop feeding the troll now.

it's funny though....................post a question about being unable to remove the giggle pin from the spraffle shaft and you three of four reply

unable to remove the giggle pin from the spraffle shaft

Alrighty then, first you need to get a couple pints of your favorite adult beverage.

Next get out the BFH (for those that prefer to have things typed completely out that would be the BIG ****ING HAMMER)

Fit a standard brass drift pin to the offending giggle pin.

Now the tricky bit....

Simultaneously hold the spraffle shaft between your big toe and next toe. (extremely important) whilst applying a large amount of force to the drift pin with the BFH (again I shall type this out completely BIG ****ING HAMMER)

After repeated attempts and multiple swear words and.........

VIOLA!! it is removed.

note: two of my words probably got the ****** treatment and that will really cheese somebody off that prefers proper spelling.

I really hope that people don't take the forum thread too seriously, I am very entertained by the slang from your side of the pond, much more colourful than your average Canadian could ever be (without getting the post deleted).

Keep it up

agreed,

and that sms slang "Vorboten" ist, das finde ich toll. Absolut Korrekt!

Do we want perfect english or perfect grammer?

Im zweiten Fall, kann ich versuchen mich hier anzustrengen, kann aber nichts versprechen!

Some people here don`t have a degree in english and AXLESUV thinks specialised is written with a "z"!

And, Your Majesty, if you are reading this, will my Knighthood for services to The Crown overseas come this year or next?
