Looking for a new fuel pump. The OEM one is super expensive, around $600 for part number 16700-NN4-J10 Found this one on ebay that looks like it should fit. Anyone know if it would work? https://www.ebay.com/itm/174253542570

I've now pulled the pump completely out of the assembly and connected 12v directly to the terminals on the pump. No noise, no pumping, nothing. I've never had a fuel pump fail like this before. Usually they get weak and can't pump the required volume or pressure, or there's a physical crack or something on it. This one looks almost brand new and is acting completely dead.

Woods-Rider started following 2015 No Start Fuel Issue
-
I have a 2015 4RT that I bought used in 2020. I've never had an issue with this bike, but it recently sat in my garage for about 6 months without being ran. It ran fine when last put away. I replaced the fuel with fresh non-ethanol fuel and tried to start it with no luck. It will start and run when spraying starting fluid down the air boot, so to me that points to a fuel issue. I unplugged the fuel pump connector from the bottom of the tank and connected 12v to it. Nothing happened. No pump sounds. No fuel out the disconnected fuel line. Is there something that would cause the fuel pump not to pump when directly connected to 12v power, other than a completely dead pump? I haven't pulled the pump out of the tank yet to inspect, but find it odd for a pump to fail while sitting in a temperature controlled garage for 6 months.

how did you get on,was there a step or did they push out the other side ok
-
Yes, Pennsylvania. I started it, shut it off, and bought it. Rolling it into the garage, it was clicking. I figured it was that obnoxious rear tire contacting something. That chain guide may be the cause. Thanks.
-
Hello, my advice would be to put your chain slipper pad on the right way up. I'm guessing you are in the u.s.a . Best wishes Alan.

That jet block gasket is a commonly overlooked issue on carbs. Was your old one already flat even being a 2018? I saw a trick where you flip the carb upside down, fill it with fuel, and blow compressed air in the pilot jet and watch for air bubbles in the fuel to identify a jet block leak.

News bearings (wheels, links, steering), new bolts, new fittings, shiny machining the wheels axles. I'm waiting for new spokes nuts to finish the original rear wheel. as you can see, the fitting of the rear brake hose is not right and must be reversed

Hi, I know this is probably a bit of a long shot but I'm currently starting on my own project bike. It's very complete but I was wondering if you still had your old top end for sale?

I just picked up a 2003 (?) SY250 on FB. It's the newest trials bike i've owned, and i'm pretty excited about it. There were a couple mid-70's TY's in the mix, so i dig the fact this bike has a Yamaha motor. What i need, though, is a manual or something to familiarize myself with this machine. I've struck out on the web. I'm grateful for any advice.

Gsinky, I'm 65 and riding trials and just restarted two years ago. Don’t worry about age. I wish I was as young as you. Just relax and enjoy it. There’s a lot of people older than me that still ride.

‘Can a 50 yr old start from scratch and where’ by JonG71 from November 25. Hi again, search for the above post as a more recent one. Tr1AL gives a good reply and I put some advice on there too.

Thanks, I’ll search out those posts👍

Hi Graham, welcome along to this wonderful world of trials. There are/have been lots of similar requests on here with plenty of sound & friendly advice to help you along. I’ve had a look back at some of my replies to people & ‘grovesy91’ (I think that was the name) made a similar request back in 2018. Have a search for ‘what bike’, or ‘new starter’ or similar and you’ll find lots of info. If you can’t find anything come back & up let us know. £1000 might be a bit tight on budget, but look around for the best serviced & looked after mechanically example rather than necessarily the smartest looking. Should still get a decent, if older, starter bike. I’d go Gas Gas Pro or Beta Rev 3/evo as I think that’ll give you best choice at that price & baring in mind spares availability. Go & read some of those old posts for some guidance. Good luck

Hi, I’m keen to get started on some gentle trials. I’m in Aberdeenshire and have always fancied it, and realise it’s now or never as I get older. I’m budgeting on circa £1k for a used Beta or Gas Gas. Any buying advice appreciated and any more general advice also welcomed. Hope I’m not too old. I had a Fantic when I was 19 and have been a MTBer over the years, so like to think I’ll at least have some sense of balance and technique, but mainly I just want to have some fun and give it a go. Also any advice on basic kit welcomed. Graham

I used the Vauxhall equivalent (same body) to transport my trials bike. Carried it in the centre with front wheel between front seats. Just cinched down front forks to give height clearance.
