  2. Unfortunately, it likely seized. Start by draining the coolant and removing the head to inspect the cylinder wall. It's possible to remove the cylinder and piston as a unit without removing the engine from the chassis. Of course, you must first remove the piston pin.
  3. A converted bike holder (brand Eufab) sitting on the car coupling. Total cost: ~40,- Euro
  4. Hi Folks! My Explorer ran out of fuel on a 10mile road trip at about 45mph. After hearing a strange sound I immediately pulled the clutch and the engine stopped. After refueling I noticed that compression is lower than it was before but still present. I am worried that the piston seized as the engine doesn't start any more. Any ideas what I can look at before I start dismantling the whole engine? Thanks! Felix
  5. It's certainly possible, but will require technical knowledge. The best place to learn about building small lithium-ion batteries is a forum devoted to electric bicycles. Lead-acid batteries have an energy density of 30-50 Wh/kg and specific energy of 20-50 Wh/L. Compare this to lithium-ion batteries, which presently have an energy density of 150-200 Wh/kg and specific energy of 250-670 Wh/L. The improvement will be dramatic!
  6. Talon was super-expensive plus 8 weeks delivery! In the end I found Adam Hodson (oneoffsprox@gmail.com) who made me one for a reasonable price and about 1 week delivery. I rode the bike for about an hour and very pleased with the change; it's taken the fire out of the blue map and made it much more usable (for me!) yet the green map doesn't feel noticeably more sluggish.
  7. Trials is a niche sport so it's unrealistic to think that dealers can hold a stock of everything. Especially something like clothing with the vast number of permutations of style, colour and size. If they can get something in and then dispatch it to you in a few days, I think that's generally fair enough.
  8. Hi All, Im looking for help for Oset 16 Lithium battery options. In Australia I am having a very difficult time getting my hands on a lithium battery for the Oset16. I have spoken to the Oset importer (under triumph now) and they had no idea what I was talking about which is a little concerning. But I have seen several posts of people wiring 18v drill batteries in series and having great success. I thought I would reach out to this forum and see if anyone can give advice about this being successful or not and what sort of range to expect. I can get more lead acid batteries but I was hoping to get something lithium for extended range so he can at least ride a full trial. Thanks in advance Dave

  17. After a bit of the missus whining at IP they have now added bike hire to the event so you can still take part if (like me) you have an ICE bike or if you don't want to drag your bike all the way there.
  18. 2022 jbr 300. Would anyone please have the workshop manual. Thank you in advance Gary garydwall@gmail.com
  19. I have my 93 Climber running! It started on the second kick! Ran good, a little rich. Clutch was stuck, typical Rotax, I fixed that on my SWM with new fiber plates. Took awhile but it finally freed up. The clutch felt either on or off so new plates should help. Gearing felt fine, power was good, lots of compression! It needs to be jetted better or another carburetor ( I have had great luck with OKO on my SWM)!
  20. 2022 Beta EVO 80 Senior: It's a fun, reliable little bike for an older rider to practice and improve his basic skills.

  23. Hi All, thought I'd get a fun conversation going about which bikes we love and why. Here's my list: 1996 Beta Techno. Representing something quite different from it's competitors with suprisingly modern handling. 1997 through '99 Montesa Cota 315. The best bike of it's time in many ways 2000 Bultaco Sherco. These early bikes were a bold statement of intent from Sherco. They meant bussiness. 2005 Sherco 320 4T. An absolute weapon. 2005 Montesa Cota 4RT. A bike that has since become the most winning bike in the history of Trials. 2009 GasGas Raga Replica. Possibly the best colour scheme of any bike to this day. 2009 Beta Evo. A beautiful bike and a massive performance improvement over the outgoing rev3. 2010 Sherco 3.0 Cabestany Replica. A great looking bike with a new chassis, a bigger engine capacity and a cool colour scheme. Seeing someone else on this bike convinced me to buy a sherco (a mistake). 2012 Ossa tr280i. A short lived but technically groundbreaking bike. 2015 Vertigo prototype. A attended the 2015 SSDT in which one of these bikes riden by Dougie Lampkin won the event. 2017 Beta Evo 4T. My own bike and by this stage a very well sorted and fun to ride machine from Beta. What are your favourites and why?
  24. My jumbo has a keihin but I had to fit a sleeve to the outside of the carb to make it fit the inlet rubber. The dellorto i took out had a similar fitting so perhaps the inlet rubber has been changed
  25. I have found the OKO`s to be very good. They are a PKW copy. Only buy the ones made in Taiwan though. There are Chinese ones out there which are crap!
