EM (Electric Motion)

  1. Started by bulto58,

I could be in the market for a electric trials bike. like the EM 5.7 , is there any upgrades from the 2017, is the 2018 out yet ?. EM web site or Facebook page don't give much new info. I do like what I'm hearing on the new Mecatecno T18. any info from you electric bike guys out there.

I've just bought an ex-school 2023 ePure Race from Inch Perfect. It looks beautiful and I'm generally very happy with it, but like any secondhand (or even new) bike there are one or two things to sort out. I'm not impressed with the way the TKO switch is mounted. It's awkwardly inaccessible and is mounted on a curved bit of frame tube so it doesn't fit well. As a consequence mud and water can get into the back of the switch, which has happened. I'm thinking of putting it on the handlebars instead. Has anyone else tried that? It would require a two wire extension about 1 metre long (I haven't measured it yet) with male and female connectors. I can find pre-wired connect…

  4. Started by trapezeartist,

In a moment of madness I decided to pull apart the rear suspension of my '21 ePure Race. Not surprisingly I found a few seized bearings, namely one of the dog bone ends and the lower end of the rear shock. Poor things, living on a diet of mud and water with the occasional bit of dust thrown in. Two questions really, so hopefully someone can prevent me from making any silly mistakes. I thought the whole rear suspension came from Sherco, but the dog bone bearings I found on the internet are plain teflon bushes and the EM bearings are needle rollers. Are they unique to EM, or am I looking in the wrong place? The dog bone bearings are a seriously tight fit an…

I had a really good feel for my old (2021) bike with a 51T sprocket on it. Foolishly I left it on when I changed the bike, thinking it would be easy enough to get another one for my new (2023) bike. It's not. I can't find one anywhere. Does anyone one have one to sell, or know where I could get one? 51T preferred but I would go with 50T or 52T too.

Can anyone here elaborate on the operation of the PRBR? Specifically I'm wondering if it could serve as the sole rear brake, my disability makes a right foot brake useless for me. I've found a couple of online reports of experienced riders removing their clutch levers and using the PRBR lever from the non clutch model and in at least one case removing the rear brake pedal. I really can't imagine riding a dirt bike without a clutch but i have no significant experience with electric bikes.

In todays episode of "what's he broke now?" Changed the clutch oil, Drained old out and replaced with 260mm of new but now the clutch doesnt engage at all. Thought it could need bleeding so i first filled from the bleed nipple, then as that didn't work bled all the fluid out and refilled again but still not working and i'm out of ideas? Also what a stupid place to put that bleed nipple, every video I've watched has an easy access one not a stupid angled one.... Also i need to replace the drain plug as the allen thread has rounded, can i get a generic one from anywhere (UK) and what size is it as the parts list doesnt state the size? …

I just bought a lightly used 2016 EM Sport 5.7. I have very little trials experience; had a Cota 349 sidecar for a while. I had a hard time getting passengers (they kept running away screaming). So I took off the hack and rode it solo a bit. Did a few vintage events and got hooked but never really liked the bike. Life got in the way and I sold the rig. I'm about to retire and this became available just as I thinned the herd (sold an FZ-09). So far I love the convenience and simplicity of electric. I'm looking forward to riding an event next year.

I ordered a ‘special order’ Escape with clutch almost 2 months ago. In the meantime, they have decieded to make a regular production ‘R’ and now they have released it. I will likely get it in a month (in the States, shipping is slow). Can’t wait!

  10. Hi guys. I've got a new to me em 5.7 around 2012 (no idea how to figure out the year) Basically the green light is always on. No matter if the battery is switched off or the switch gear is off. The only way I can turn off the green light is to disconnect the wiring at the 2 amp fuse . The handle bar switch appears to work for killing the bike. But the green light remains on regardless. I'm guessing this isn't right. I'll pull the switch apart and have a look. But any advice appreciated. Cheers

Is there enough slack in the wiring to install taller handlebars? I'm 6'5" (195cm) and an old guy. My back hates being bent over too far and also I have more pressure on the bars than I'd like--I can't get into a relaxed position.

Should the front disc have play in it or be solid? I could hear a noise from the front wheel area and found the disc has play in it, the bolts are tight but it looks like some kind of washer has degraded maybe allowing side to side play on the disc. I'm thinking it shouldnt move but always best to check lol and were can i get replacement washers form if it these that are the issue. I have two 2021 bikes and its the same on both

Did an event in Arizona where it rained. Seriously, it rained in Arizona. Dripping wet waiting in queue on second loop about midway through the loop, got a severe jolt in the left hand while soaking glove hand had finger on clutch lever and thumb wrapped around grip. Shock was felt throughout my hand and seemed to exit (enter?) at my thumb. I've done enough work with AC and DC (I'm a sparky), including some medical experiments with DC, that I think this was a real shock event. Meaning I don't think it was some nerve pinch or arthritis related garbage. I've not run an experiment on myself to calibrate sensation vs voltage (I've got some mates who would be happy to help), h…

Hi. I'm a user of Bertigo in South Korea. I'm asking you questions because I'm interested in the Electric Motion racing version. I wonder if there is a difference between the trial and the force of 300cc exhaust. There's no electric trials in South Korea. I have no choice but to access information on YouTube. I felt a little less powerful than the Slingshot engine 300cc. So I'm curious. Let me know.

I am trying to find the price for the french full-sized e-trials EM 5.7, but an email to them bounced back. It is a nice bike, the only major thing it seems to lack is a battery charge indicator. As an aside, if the Gas Gas comes out with their e-trials and they deliver with a clutch, let better say if they come out at all, it would be nice.

As it says, I have a 2012 Beta Evo 300 atm. Only used occasionally. Love it when I do. Those that have gone petrol to electric, will you stay on electric or are you looking to go back to petrol? The flexibility of epures and lack of noise is super appealing as it means I can triple my riding locations. Is electric the way to go🤷‍♂️

Hi, I'm looking to buy a used Epure sport. The 2020 bikes are £1500 cheaper than the 2021 bikes. Was there much change from 2020 to 2021, all i can see is in reviews is the forks are better and there were small refinements to the power delivery on the 2021. Also is there a built-in hour meter or an indication of how many charge cycles it has done?

  19. The missus has just bought a 2021 Epure race. We had a nice day testing it yesterday and she seems keen enough to keep it and sell her Beta. The big yes-no decision is to ride it in a trial proper rather than just on a practice ground. We have just tried to sign up for a trial and the machine details page needs a CC and engine stroke. I remember that ACU said electric bikes can now be entered into the normal trials but the electric motor has neither a cc nor a stroke. What do other people put in? (Clearly you can make up nonsense if you want but the results will show Electric Motion 250cc or some drivel which is not really "right") She very kindly let me ri…

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this - logically to me it belongs in EM. The only fault I can find with the latest EM bikes is that they are a bit heavier than the ICE alternative. With solid state batteries soon to be a feature of the light car market I wonder if this will be the next development for electric trials bikes? The downside is going to be cost andalready the EM is more expensive than a Montesa or similar, but to be fair not by much. Anyway some news on this front in my feed propted me to look at this road bike development: https://www.ducati.com/ww/en/news/ducati-s-electric-research-continues-with-the-v21l-prototype-and-solid-state-batte…
