EM (Electric Motion)

  1. Started by Zack,

So my 22 comp has a clunking sound that is damn hard to track down. I initially thought it was the bolts from the frame dogbone contacting the dogbone off the shock as clearance is minimal and I did see what appeared to be scratches where you would expect them if it was impacting. well facing both bolts didn't resolve the sound. It's almost like a flex sound but nothing is loose, none of plastic is flexing. it mostly happens on the top of the stroke but not always and sometimes it goes away altogether (but comes back after a couple bounces on the pegs... I disconnected the top of the shock, laid below and had a friend go through the stroke. There was no sound or anything …

Has anybody looked into what is involved to update a 21 bike to the 22 TKO spec? Is this possible? Cheers

As it says, I have a 2012 Beta Evo 300 atm. Only used occasionally. Love it when I do. Those that have gone petrol to electric, will you stay on electric or are you looking to go back to petrol? The flexibility of epures and lack of noise is super appealing as it means I can triple my riding locations. Is electric the way to go🤷‍♂️

Where will I be able to get a new rear mudguard in the UK? Inch Perfect don't have any on their site but guess it has to be possible to buy one somewhere.

I finally found a tidy 2016 EM at sensible money and have had a couple of plays on it now. Has to be said that I've barely ever ridden a modern trials bike so can't really compare it to anything newer than a mid 70s Bultaco Sherpa. However I have been really impressed so far. The bike is a lot better than me and better than I am ever likely to be at my age. There are 3 settings plus 2 maps which seem to control the throttle response for each, it is very mild on the lowest one with my near 14 stone on it. The middle setting with the fastest response map is my favourite so far. The highest setting makes more torque than any bike I've ever ridden right off the bo…

Every EM owner will know that the commonest question is "How long does the battery last?" My answer is always the same, based on my personal experience: I usually finish a trial with the meter showing about 70% left. Now 70% at the end of a trial had me a bit perplexed. That is far better than the manufacturer's claimed battery life, and when did you ever find a manufacturer who understates anything?! So yesterday I tried an experiment. I didn't charge the battery before going out for a practice, so I started on 70%. After nearly 3 hours (so slightly less than a normal trial) the battery was down to 15%. I have no complaint because two days riding on a battery seems …

The S3 Hard Rock footpegs, in orange, work well with the orange accents on the ePure Race.

Did an event in Arizona where it rained. Seriously, it rained in Arizona. Dripping wet waiting in queue on second loop about midway through the loop, got a severe jolt in the left hand while soaking glove hand had finger on clutch lever and thumb wrapped around grip. Shock was felt throughout my hand and seemed to exit (enter?) at my thumb. I've done enough work with AC and DC (I'm a sparky), including some medical experiments with DC, that I think this was a real shock event. Meaning I don't think it was some nerve pinch or arthritis related garbage. I've not run an experiment on myself to calibrate sensation vs voltage (I've got some mates who would be happy to help), h…

The propstand on the ePure holds the bike too upright so I have found I have to search out a low spot in the ground to place the stand on when parking up. It's a bit of a pain in the posterior so I went looking for a solution. Now I've put a washer under the inboard fixing to the swinging arm. It seems to be better in the garage, so I'm hopeful for the trial tomorrow. If it turns out to be better but not enough, I'll try two washers but that will need a slightly longer screw as there isn't a lot of thread engagement. Tyre clearance is also extremely tight. I don't know what can be done about the spring/tyre clearance but I've cut off the redundant spring lug and that…

Is anyone using S3 Bar Ends on a EPure? I'm trying to figure out which model bar ends to get. #5 or TOO? I guess the question is does the EPure have a closed or open throttle tube?

  11. im looking for replacement headlight switch for 17 escape with full light kit, its got a lot of buttons - headlight regular and bright, turns signals, horn, ignition on/off, and 2 engine regeneration buttons. em parts catalog calls this part LEFT CERTIFIED COMMUTATOR part number TL01K-60407-00-00 made by leonelly. anybody has any ideas where to find that switch except EM dealer also since i don't need all the lights and i don't use them a lot anyway i can get rid of them but then i need "ignition on/off" switch and engine "regeneration button", may be i can figure out how to bypass ignition on/off switch and just use magnetic switch and nothing else…

  12. Started by trapezeartist,

I've just bought a slightly secondhand Epure Race. First ride yesterday and I absolutely loved it. It's the Mutt's nuts, the dog's danglies, the canine's gonads, and every other euphemism you can think of. I'm now just starting on working through everything, cleaning, adjusting and learning, so I have a couple of questions to start off with: Does anyone have a clever way of refitting the chain tensioner? It came off with a mighty ping and looks like it will be a swine to get back on. Where is the oil drain plug and level window? So far I've only found the filler. Thanks.

  13. I've been really enjoying my Escape over the last few months doing both slow and faster riding. I have started having a problem or two and wanted to see if other riders had encountered them (I've put the question to my dealer as well) They can happen and last for a few seconds a minute then it starts working normally. 1.The display shows F1, F2, or F3 instead of battery level. typically only appear while I am on throttle or regen braking. 2. The display fully turns off I'll keep riding along and eventually the display returns. Anyone else seen this?

Gents, very interested in going electric and just wondered what’s the position regarding riding an EM Escape (or a Oset 24) on the road in the UK? Is it possible to register these?

Hi. I'm a user of Bertigo in South Korea. I'm asking you questions because I'm interested in the Electric Motion racing version. I wonder if there is a difference between the trial and the force of 300cc exhaust. There's no electric trials in South Korea. I have no choice but to access information on YouTube. I felt a little less powerful than the Slingshot engine 300cc. So I'm curious. Let me know.

Hi, I'm considering buing an electric motion trials bike but can't justify the money for a new one. I've seen a 2018 EM sport one for sale but can't find out all the information i'd like on it. What type of clutch is it, a mechanical one like an normal bike? How can i tell the state of the batteries and are they easy available if they need replacing?

I ordered a ‘special order’ Escape with clutch almost 2 months ago. In the meantime, they have decieded to make a regular production ‘R’ and now they have released it. I will likely get it in a month (in the States, shipping is slow). Can’t wait!

Hi I have a specialist looking at my battery however he would like a schematic of the wiring inside a EM 5.7 battery. I'm getting conflicting information on the exact makeup of the battery, has the battery 13 cells only, 13 cells with a 14th cell that controls the relay or 14 X 4V cells with the 1st cell also controlling the relay? This Battery has had a Neptune BMS fitted that although very clever it does keep on tripping the solenoid regardless off the multitude of settings and parameters I have tried to resolve the issue. I have decided to have a more basic BMS fitted but unfortunately the wiring is a bit hit and miss at the moment hence the request for a detailed sche…

I've always loved the thought of an electric trials bike but said that I'd wait until it had a proper clutch. Now, with being on lockdown, I've had a little ride in the garden (on my petrol bike) and it's underlined how awesome it would be to have an electric bike. But, I've got a couple of questions/musings that I wonder if people have experience enough to answer: 1. Gears.. they exist for a reason - before the coronavirus hit, I was doing a fair bit of practice in mud. I learned quite quickly how important it is to use the gears to maintain grip. Using 3rd when I might be in 1st in the dry, and using 4th (with clutch) for big climbs for example. Now, with…
