What is the ideal sprocket combination for Yamaha TY 175, just removed a 60 rear fitted a 51. I have just got a 13 front 51 rear from Talon, so I left the old 13 front on for now. Is the 13x51 the most common combination?

Hi Guys. My clutch refuses to disengage. When I pull the lever it feels normal but as soon as I put it into gear it just shoots forward. Its not slipping or anything, quite the opposite. Any one any ideas? Gordon.

Hi all, I'm currently rebuilding my Yam which has now had the inlet manifold shortened, flywheel lightened and been ported. So, does anyone have the jet sizes that will get the best out of these mods. I have the standard sizes but also have variations on every jet so can re-jet no problem. Anybody with a Mick Andrews or a Birkett tuned motor will have had their carb done, I'd be well chuffed if they could share this info with me. Any help most appreciated, Cheers

Has anyone tried the Miller chrome front pipe on their 175. As I have fitted a WES rear, and my existing one hasn't got a lot of metal left after 31 years just curious as I was thinking of getting a Miller one. So rather than order one and get it shipped to New Zealand to find its not suitable! or has anyone got or made an alternative?

I have several 1975+- TY175. One is a fun original vintage bike. One is a beatup (but top shape mechanically with 250 tubes, wide pegs etc) buddy bike to teach kids to ride on. This one suddenly died and lost spark. This has been a recurring problem with all of mine. Stators seems susceptible to heat problems. Is this common? SO, before I start chasing the gremlins again, I'd like to consider changing to solid state ignition. I know B&J has a kit but its pretty expensive for the value of these bikes. Are there any later Yamaha solid state ignitions that will bolt in with minor modifications only? (i.e dremel tool, not NC machining) I am interested in low end, sm…

I picked up an ultra clrean mid-80's 350 recently. It was a one-owner bike with 75 total miles on it. It has the original tires on it. I'm pretty experienced on bikes, running enduro and off-road stuff but trials is all new to me. I understand this about the bike: bulletproof needs modern brakes 20 lbs heavier than modern units has a crappy carb and a 27mm swap is the ticket (Mikuni or Keihin?) too heavy of flywheel and the 250 flywheel is the fix stock fork springs are too soft for most Beyond that, I'm clueless. I have a shop manual on order and am running down the exact year of the bike. Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanc…

Just when everything seems ready to go on our TY175 we have noticed some end float on the gear lever shaft (in excess of 1mm) & a less than perfect gearshift action. Has any one else had this happen & know of a cure.

What is the difference between the original Majestys and the new ones you can buy now? As I understand it the new ones are built using NOS frames from John Shirt and most other bits are TY. Did the original ones have the fibreglass tank or were they alloy?
