On my uncles 1998 beta techno there is a small black box under the header tank bolted to the frame with one yellow wire coming out of it. What does it do? just wondered if it varies the power supply to the fan or lights or somthing? The fans power lead (yellow one) is conected directly to the yellow wire coming from the engine is this ok? or does the black box thing need to be joined in somewhere, to stop the fan being blown up or something? Any one got a wiring diagram i could have? James

hi, have had a TY250 (with drum brakes) for seven years and after doing a few trials have got myself a 2001 Beta 250. thing is...the brakes seem a totally different kettle of fish when compared with road and enduro bikes. How do I get the pads separated (even if its just a little bit) away from the disc itself so i can check the surface of the pads. I have removed the top of the reservoir andd tried pushing the calipers (gently) from both sides but this seems to have no effect in getting a gap between the pads and discs that will make re-assembly an easy task! I have had a look at the brake lever end (and please forgive the lack of technical terms here) and have rem…

my 2002 250 rev3 is nearly always leaking fuel out of the carb floatbowl (not the breathers as mentioned before on here) Checked out the past posts on this subject and found this Done what the mod says with my float 'tang' but it still leaks.......correct me if Im wrong but I think the drawing in the link is wrong ! if you want to restrict the fuel going into the bowl you want the tang going the other way than what Clark says....whats reckon?

Just thinking out loud...not something I'm gonna do yet, 'cause mines OK... BUT.. seems like quite a few people experience niggling problems with their Beta mikuni carbs...(which I know before anyone gets upset) can be sorted out.... anyway..my point is...it seems on many other bikes like Gas Gas Sherco etc, people switch to a different carb alltogether. Never really heard of anyone doing it on a Rev3....and so I was just wondering why...just curious??... yes probably mindless curiousity..but there you go...any comments will be interesting to me at least

  7. Started by beta rider,

Help required. I've just finshed cleaning the carb on my 04 rev3 by removing it and cleaning with carb cleaner/blowing jets etc. On replacing it into the frame petrol leaks from the carb body where the float bowl joins with the main carb body (it does'nt leak from the atmospheric tubes/over flow). I presume the gasket needs replacing. Could there be any other reason? I've taken the carb apart twice before (without changing the gasket and i've had the bike from new). Do the gaskets normally need replacing this oftern? If it is the gasket does anyone know where they can be bought (in time to ride on the weekend! Otherwise as a last resort for one trial only could anyth…

i would be gratefull if anyone could tell me how long it takes to fit a new stator to an 04 250?also is it hard to do or not?thanks.

  9. Started by beta rider,

i've noticed the inside of my 04 rev 3's airbox seems to have some of the filter oil caught in the bottom. I think this is as a result of washing the bike (with a hose pipe) and water running down the petrol tank and into the airbox (and washing some of the filter oil from the element). I'm going to remove the airbox and carb to clean them both. Is its necessary to remove the rear wheel and rear part of the silencer to take the airbox out? It appears very difficult otherwise. Also I bought the bike new and Lampkins had installed silcone sealant near to where the front of the airbox meets the frame. I presume this stops mud etc from spraying onto the airbox. This seal ho…

Not sure how many of you have seen it yet but for those of you that havent here are some pictures. I love the colour scheme it reminds me of the 2000 colour which i think was the best, and the rear mud guard is smart. matt

After rebuilding my tr34 engine im having problems getting it to run properly it will start with the choke out and warm up when i push the choke in it slows to a idle the problem starts once i try to rev it i have followed the instructions for setting up that i obtained from off-road .coms ride -net web page for the mikuni carb but i dont really know which screws are which i have a large thumb screw at the base of the carb which i assume is the idle air screw or pilot air screw i dont seem to have a throttle stop screw or cant see one on the side of the carb. When i open the throttle it seems to choke the engine regardless of where the thumb screw is set believe me when…

hi everyone, I drained my radiator today to change the coolant and to make sure everything was hunkydory since Summer is here and it is hot, The coolant which I am using is a water and antifreeze mix and I had no problems with it in my old Sherco. The mix which I drained out when I got the bike was a pale orange but I thought this was the colour of the coolant which the previous owner had used, however when i drained the coolant this time the blue coolant had turned a very pale orange aswell, I also noticed some orange gunk on the radiator cap. So whats going on, is this ok and what can I do? I am going to remove the pump cover to see if there is gunk in here too, sho…

  20. Started by paul,

After riding the other day i noticed a small amount of grey froth in the clear tube that i have connected from the rad cap to under the engine. When i removed the cap same froth around rad tube but when i squeeze hose clear coolant can be seen with a little froth on top. I've checked the gearbox breather which is clear and the gearbox oil seen through the site glass is also clear. I cleaned the top of the rad tube and cap and rode for half an hour but same thing happens. Lampkins suggest the waterpump seal but say it's unusual for oil in the water and not water in the gearbox. I presume that there is only a small amount of oil in the water which as it floats is now al…
