I've just changed the oil on my Rev-3 and the old oil came out whiteish and milky. Water in the gearbox, right? I flushed it through with new oil a couple of times and refilled but after a couple of minutes running, it's starting to go the same way (from looking through the sight glass). I assume that the water pump seal has gone - could it be anything else? Can anyone recommend what parts I need to order? As always, many thanks for any advice!

With so much chat going on in the other sections I am surprised there has been virtually no talk on here about the Beta. Could it be because we are all so content with our 2 stroke Beta's we aren't in any hurry to for a Beta 4 stroke?

Right I have a problem, my bike is a 2005 Beta 250 and the problem is the carb. The left overflow (near the middle exhaust) seems to always have fuel poring out of it. If it is at any sort of angle meaning face down the way, up the way or even left, fuel will start poring out of the left overflow. I have striped the carb down made sure the float level is parallel to the plane of the the carburetor and cleaned out all the jets and making sure there is no dirt in the carb to stop things working. It is a big problem because after about 10 mins of normal riding I

I currently ride a Rev3 270 and although it's fun having all that power for when you're fooling around with mates that same power frequently gets me into trouble, especially during trials. I've been looking around for a new (used) bike recently with the intention of buying a 250 but I've come across a nice clean '04 Rev3 200 and it's got me thinking. I'm aware of the conventional wisdom that says most clubman level riders are over-biked and a 200 (or even 125) will encourage the development of proper technique as opposed to relying on raw grunt to get through sections. The problem is, I'm (*ahem*) on the large side (17st) and a bit concerned that it'll occasionally strugg…

We might have had this before, but I'll take a chance as I'm in a rush and haven't got time to search (sorry all!) When I fire up my bike, the fan is on straight away. Is this usual? I can't remember, as I'm usually on top (although not for long, to be fair!) and don't recall ever noticing one way or the other before? Cheers KB.

When I first bought my '02 Rev3 (270) it was suffering quite badly with an knocking under hard acceleration which, after a lot of fiddling about, was cured by a larger pilot jet and has run fine for over a year. I've just got back from an evening practise session and the same problem's suddenly back, even worse than before. The odd thing is that I haven't done anything to the bike recently and it was running fine at the weekend. Most of the time it's fine but when using lots of revs it knocks like crazy. It's always been a bit on the smoky side (I know that the pipe needs a proper clean) but now it's clouds of blue smoke all the time as well. I'm going to do all the usua…

on my tr34 there are 2 pipes blanked off on the carb it looks like there should be two pipes going to the crankcase one at the side of the flywheel housing the other in the centre of the crankcase ,what are they for and would they be better connected or left blanked off cheers mark

  11. Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and fairly new to trials. I just finished riding in Dave Rhodes Outlaw trial in Kamloops B.C. (Junior) and my 04 Beta just died. We checked all the obvious things ie gas, kill switch, put in a new plug but there is still no spark at the plug. From the other forum topics it sounds like there are some electrical issues that can crop up. I have some limited mechanical skills, how do you check the CDI unit? Can it be checked with a multimeter and if so what values are normal? How do you check the stator? Anybody else have any ideas? Thanks for any input

I see in T&MX that someone is producing a replacement set of elctrics for the rev3. Anyone tried them or know anything about them. Who makes them, are they good quality and a genuine upgrade on the original equipment?

Hi everyone. My bike is in need of a new chain. The sprockets are OK, but at my last trial the bike seemed a little too slow, and everyone was passing me between sections, despite going flat out. What size sprockets are you Beta riders running? My bike is an 03 200cc, I thought that I might try a few teeth less on the rear sprocket. But I would like to know if it is the front sprocket which has been down sized by the previous owner or the rear sprocket up sized before I go out and buy the wrong sprockets. Thanks Bob I will get back with my current sizes soon.

  17. Started by beta rider,

I require some advice! I own a 2004 rev 3 which I have owned since new and have used about 12 times. While I was out practicing the bike died and I later found it would'nt produce a spark. I've tried all the obvious things like changing the spark plug and checking electrical connections. I've contacted Lampkin imports and he has sent me a new CDI unit and stator plate to swop with the ones on my bike under warranty. Having removed the flywheel and changed the stator can anyone gave advice on how to set the ignition timing? I presume it is via the small hole on the fly wheel and stator plate. Thanks, A frustrated beta rider.
