We had a great training day with Jonathan English on the 12th followed by our Drive to Ride event on the 13th. since there is no TdN team this year the funds we raised for the TdN team will be put aside until Canada participates again (hopefully next year). The 7 time USA Trials Champion was in Summerland BC last weekend, to put on what can only be described as a fantastic training school. - This was Ryan's first visit to Western Canada, and glad to say the weather co-operated with sunshine and warm temperatures. - The 14 students were treated to a variety of training techniques, but everything started with Ryan checking "Set-up" on all the bikes, which included a short ride to ensure all controls werer working as they should. Next up was basic turns, before graduating to more advanced stuff like slipping the clutch for traction etc, then it was onto the logs, with different suspension and throttle/clutch co-ordination. - T…

Pretty disappointed to see that Sherco has changed from Mountain Motorcycles for the Canadian distribution of their motorcycles. Not sure of all of the details as I can't see where Sherco has announced the change, but this is from the TrialsPlus website of Mountain Motorcycle: "Mountain Motorcycle Ltd is no longer importer of the Sherco brand of trials motorcycles for Western Canada. That function has recently been assigned by the factory to Bob Billyard at Sherco Canada in Ontario, whose territory encompasses the entire country. We thank our loyal Sherco customers for their support and friendship over the years. We are working with the Sherco factory and the new import…

I used to ride trials and enduro bikes in the early 70’s and have had street bikes until about 4 years ago. I thought I might get back into riding trials bikes again. I was hoping to ride a bike before purchasing but that has proved hard to arrange. Ride the vibe has cancelled it’s schools at Ioco and Popkum is open only on weekends. I have attended a couple of trials at Ioco but was unable to take their course due to lack of a bike. If anyone knows where I can get a test ride I’d be grateful for the information. I intend on joining the club I am also wondering if there are any other places to ride nearer to White Rock than Ioco. What brand of bike has the…

I will be spending some time this summer at my companies corporate headquarters in Calgary, Alberta. The time will be spent in two week increments affording me at least a few weekends when I could and would like to go see a trials event. Any information about clubs or events in the area would be appreciated. Thanks Doug Wilson

The Squamish round of the CPTA series is in the books. Although attendance was light, I got the feeling that all who ventured up for the event had a great time. Dave Narona has posted numerous pictures from the event that can be viewed at the 99 Trials Facebook site as well as the TrialsPlus Facebook site. Video that he took will also be coming soon. Thanks to all that came by to visit one of our great riding areas in the 99 corridor! Spencer Fitschen

Watching the video on the last post made me wonder. What happened to the Terra Nova. My Dad rode the event several times (I think he went for the beer) and I rode it once with my brother. If I remeber correctly it was basicly an enduro on Vancover Island. The event was always on your Thanksgiving. It was about 90 miles each way and started from your property (do you still have the property?). The event was more like one long section. It was very tough. I think I rode the event in around 1984. I know I did not win and was very tired after the first day. But it was the most amazing ride I have ever ridden.

Hi Rabie, I believe your ACU is similar to our CMA as it is the only FIM affiliated organization in the country and covers a wide variety of motorcycle sports. The CMA requires riders to pay $80 to join plus the entry fees to each of their events. The closest event they put on is about 2,000km away. We also have a National group that does not have FIM affiliation but provides the same insurance coverage and its own rule book but it is all free thanks to its sponsors. Some feel putting on events for free is undermining the sport and all things FIM but we have been actually very good at collecting money to support our FIM TdN team directly instead of paying it to the CMA …

The 28th running of the WTC Sanctioned Two Day Outlaw Trial took place at Scotch Creek. BC - on the May long weekend - The Shuswap riders did an excellent job of setting up a variety of sections for all classes, plus put on a big BBQ on both Saturday and Sunday nights. - With an entry of 40 riders each day, plus a kids Trial on the Saturday evening, the event was once again a huge success. In the Expert class, it was an all Beta podium, with Brandon Wince of Kelowna taking the win, over our new transplanted Aussi, Sam King, and Sean Bird - a former CMA Champion, making a welcome return to the sport. The next big WTC Trial is the Eastern Canadian Championship in Quebec…
