Hello fellow climber owners, Have been doing one up over the last year or so (full strip down) and now fully built . It starts OK and runs OK so decided to take it out the other weekend (to relive my younger days as trials rider !). After about 30 mins one of the water pipes started leaking hot water (couldn't see where) and notest the fan wasn't working, so off to the van and home. Had a look the other day and tried putting a 6 volt battery over the fan and to my delight the fan spun up. So next was the fan switch and once it was removed tried to test it by seeing if it earthed out ie. single pin to body of switch, in boiling wate…

Just got myself a twinshock aprillia with a a hiro motor think it may be a tx 320??? looks to be in prety good nick but needs a kickstart shaft as its been welded has anyone got any info on theese bikes ? Only got it for the wheels and forks but its way to good to break and it sort of feels right steering angle ect, just needs the pegs lowering and moving back so i feel another project coming on Any info on parts availability or pics would be very welcome thanks in advance for your help . A guy at our club asked me about testing the cooling fan on his 92 Aprila. I haven't seen the bike but he says there are three wires going into the fan and a single wire thermal switch. What is the best means to check if his fan is working? Can you direct me to a electrical schematic or tell me which wires to jumper across? Thanks for the help.

Any idea what the fuel mix is on a 280r

I have been looking around and been trying to find a place that sells and suplies parts for a climber 280r bike??? Does any one now of a web site or shop that sells these parts many thanks? Henry

I could use some help i have had my bike standing for a couple of months and the clutch has stopped working , i have stripped it down as far as i dare and all seems in order , put it all back and still no joy. the problem is i can pull the clutch lever in and it wont work( ie the engine is still driving the wheel ) ,the springs on the plate must be working because the lever springs right back . is it something simple i am missing ?

I bought a Climber clutch casing a while back at a jumble sale. I've only just opened the package and found that there is one vital part missing. It is the short rod which sits in the middle of the cover and pushes on the pressure plate when the clutch is actuated. What I need are the dimensions and then get one or two made. Any source for Aprilia TXR312 rear sprocket? Does anyone know if the later model Aprilia Climber rear sprockets are the same as the TXR. Trials Shop here in the US is still on back order. All I need to get my TXR going.

Hi all, I was out with the Climber a week ago and it ran fine for an hour but then when it was on tick over just stoped and didn´t start again. Back home I have been tracing the problem and have tried or rather changed the carb, plug, plug cap, kill switch, and the black box under the tank. I have now found out that when the plug is out and its turned over there is no spark the most of the time unless you turn the engine over a lot faster then the spark apears again. It´s not possible to kick it over this fast with the plug in and it just fires up very very ocaisionaly for a couple of beats now and again. I´m thinking that it´s in the stator plate…

Hello everyone! Im new to this forum but excited to join. I'm planning on putting a new con rod bottom bearing into my 92' climber, but i have a few questions to those who are familiar with the bike. Whats the best way to get the clutch nut off? the just spins freely with the screw mounts behind the pressure plate. It's on there good.. will a vice grip clutch tool do the job? 2. After finally getting my '93/'94 Climber 280 rebuilt on Monday. The clutch is slipping like crazy. Post build I noticed gear oil weeping from the kick start/gear shaft seal so Martin at SWM Moto sorted my out. after rebuild number 3 the clutch slips terribly. Prior to this it had 10W40 in it. It now has ATF. I gave also replaced the clutch top basket as one of the fingers was missing. Nothing else has changed. any help or comments please, I'm baffled!

Hi, I've recently acquired a 1994 Aprilia Climber 280 but I'm having a hard time trying to find parts & a workshop manual for it. I currently need a new clutch master cylinder as the old Grimeca one has seized but I can't find an alternative anywhere? I also need to know where to drain & fill both the engine & transmission oils (I've been told the transmission oil has been drained).

im thinking of getting an aprilia climber for nostalger purposes any thorts are they any good ? anything to watch out for i used to ride trials in the 90s and fancy collecting the classic 90s model bikes

Hi, I have an aprilia TX 300 with the engine block (crankcase and clutch) of an aprilia climber. Bring the original air-cooled cylinder. I would like to leave the clutch softer and I am looking for some docks to make it softer. Being a rotax engine may be worth the other models. Can someone help me? I will be very grateful. So, I have an Aprilia climber 280, i bought it a few months ago and its a bit tatty! I have replaced the kickstart lever, the brake pads, the gearchange lever and the rear shock. I will be riding it again soon to check if it was worth while or not! I got the kichstart lever and gearchange lever from Andover Norton - they were really helpfull and matched my old parts up in no time at all! The pads were from wemoto - although took 2 months to arrive (although i blame the post not them) the shock was an ebay item but again i was lucky to receive a tidy item! im quite new to trials so i dont have any wonderful hints or tips for the Aprilia crowd but im sure there will b…

Since i, ve got the bike i always had to refill water every time i rode, but lately it started spilling more, the water is always refilled correctly,i do not know from where the water scapes, but theres always some in the cylinders head and all around, maybe thats only part of it when it is overcharged. Really i do not know, y checked the cylinder joint and they seem all right but i send to replace anyway. maybe this thing can help to fix the problem, the cooler is a special anti freeze (i know that it has nothing to do but maybe) the bike was stopped for 5 to 10 years (i really dont know) when opening the expansion tank while engine is on, it won't jump out and it i…

Hi all I have two Climber 240 (91 and 92) in Japan. I am in the middle of my change the front fork oil project. I have some questions. 1. Oil level measurement (mm?) from the top of fork edge? 2. How much does each fork needs the oil (Aprilia manufacturer’s recommended ) 3. Recommended degree of viscosity.
