OSET Electric Trials Bikes

Hi guru's. Last weekend the motor started making a kind of grumble/snatchy noise once the motor had gotten hot. Switch it off, Have a cuppa, let it cool and all fine again. The bike is just over 18 months old and still running same bearings so I figured it was time to swap them. I have removed the Motor, pulled the sprocket off. Removed the drive side casing and then with lots of swearing and clever use of welding gloves and an inner tube, removed the housing. My problem is that now can't seem to remove the non drive side casing to access the other bearing. How do I remove this side?. I can see the brushes in place and the (stator plate?).. I can see down to the bearing, …

Seems my lad was able to dislodge a motor magnet today. The motor is a 36V 900W version. Anyone seen anything like this before? Unfortunately he didn't mention the power change he felt until later and there wasn't any noise so we kept riding for about 10 minutes more. As the pic shows the motor became extremely hot. And amazingly, it still runs. I haven't disassembled the brush side yet. I am curious what the consensus is here. Can it be rebuilt (should it be?) or just replace it. So I put a new bearing in my oset 16 36v motor 2012 and now it runs in reverse. What might I of done wrong?? I had both sides of the motor off, it was tricky putting the 4 springy things back on (technical term there), I think they all went on properly and as far as I was concerned I didn't touch or change any wires??.......HELP

hi, i was thinking of replacing the handle bars, (for higher ones) and the grips too, any idea which ones to get, also i want to change the lever for the front brake for an longer one as the original doesn`t seem long enough because of the accelerater, not sure what to get though ? any advice would be great !

Hi all sorry to repeat a subject that has probably been covered many times. Same issue as most really... Want to remove the throttle lag and smooth out power delivery on oset 12.5. I see there are a number of different solutions available (none from oset which is surprising) has anyone used a torque control module from pico amps? http://www.automotive.picoamps.de/en/download_en.htm http://www.automotive.picoamps.de/doc/TorqueModuleOSET.pdf Seems a little steep at 129 plus vat. I signed up for newsletter updates on the Oset site. The 24 looks great but I'm having a hard time figuring out the size compared a full-sized bike. I suppose 24 means 24" wheels? I know that the oset stock batterys are 12v 10ah capacity. We just picked up an OSET 16, and an OSET 20 yesterday. OSET 16 24V needs new batteries. Anyone have a good battery recommendation? Amazon has a bunch of 12v/14ah batteries or should I go through OSET? Charger was also having issues so I got a new one on order from Amazon, specs all match OEM charger.

Hi there, I just got to take my 5 year old son out for the first time this year on his 2018 Osett 12.5 and the batteries are pretty weak, only lasted about an hour. I would love to do the LIPO conversion but he wants to go again this weekend so I'm looking for something I could buy off the shelf locally. The shop here wants $135/battery but I can't even get through on the phone to see if they have them in stock. Dear OSET Customer, You may have heard about a new law that came into effect on February 10th. The law is a broad, sweeping law called the 'Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act' (CPSIA). The law was enacted as a knee jerk reaction by Congress to the importation of lead tainted toys from Mattel etc. The new laws give very strict guidelines that have had unintended consequences for many industries. Many metal alloys often contain lead. Engine casings on mini motorcycles, valve stems, spoke nipples etc all now fail the new standards. Snapped our 5th rear fender today! My boy's riding skills have really gone up so he is doing pretty amazing things on the bike now but I have had enough of buying new rear fenders! See this thread(http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/44051-oset-20-mods/), we have even tried modifying it and boiling the plastic to soften it and although it helps a lot it still snaps. Any ideas?

Had a near miss at the weekend with my 4 year old on his 12.5. He was riding down a short steep hill when the throttle has gone forward past the off stop position. The throttle then operated as full throttle and the bike took off crashing with him into a wall. Thankfully my son was fine. The oset has twisted bent forks and buckled wheel. I emailed oset uk with the details however to date no response. I would expect the default position with any failure should be to zero rather than maximum. At least with a petrol bike you have a kill switch.

Morning all. Went to get my boys oset 20.0 lite out of the shed yesterday, fully charged, swithched on on the handle bar, 3 lights showing on the battery gauge, and nothing. When I say nothing, you hear the relay make the click noise but when you touch the throttle there is a slight response where the wheel turns a fraction then it cuts out. Repeat process and it does it again but nothing more. It was fine when we put it away after a dry ride. Any thoughts???

HI all you Oset fans, I'm THINKING of buying an Oset for my daughter, (if I can find a used one within my budget). Of course I'm aware of all the advantages..BUT,..i have this nagging doubt that you dont get as much for your money as you could with a used petrol TXTboy50 for example?? Another concern is, if buying a used one....how long (in months/years of average use) could you expect a battery to last?..and if it needs replacing, is it very expensive, and easily available??...cant find any price for a new battery on the net. Any ideas or opinions would be gratefully received. THanks

Got a oset 20r on standard Battery and charger. It won't charge. Red light on but no other or fan. So I've pulled connection s apart on charger socket and getting 60v dc. Seems a bit high. Presumed it would be around 48v dc. Is this right,

My daughter likes riding her trials bike more than anything else (although rock climbing comes a close second) she is just getting to the stage where she needs good brakes but being a very small five year old, her little hands can't apply much pressure on the brake lever. I thought I'd share a recent near miss I had with some lipo batteries whilst attempting to convert our little lads 12.5 from lead to lipo....... After running a 36v (pairs of 5s batteries in series) 16" bike on lipo for a while with no problems I decided to get some for the young un's 12.5. I wasn't sure if this has been covered or not. At a local trial here in the Pacific Northwest of the States, a man pitted next to me with two very interesting bikes, Naturally, I forgot to bring a camera that day, and further forgot my new "smart" phone is also a camera. I wish I'd taken some video or photographs of these bikes that day...... An interesting thing, to me, was that these motorcycles were both hand built. Things like the suspension & brakes were sourced, but the frame, swingarm, plastics, & such were built by the man parked next to me in the pits. The stand is not selling anything, it is promoting our own Conducted trials for riders aged 4 and above. Having electrical problems with my lads 12.5 and need some expert advice! Here's the story so far.... The problem is that the drive is very weak and juddery and only a small amount of load on the rear wheel causes it to stall, i.e no torque. My initial thought was the motor brushes. Bike is a 2011 model and has been well used so would make sense. I've had the motor to bits before to do bearings so I set off down the route of checking these. However, I decided to direct wire the motor to the batteries before stripping it - this resulted in the motor spinning up nicely and with loads of torque so I didn't progress the motor strip.
