hi,just bought a montesa 315r 2000. Its my first bike and needs some repairs to the engine, this included a new top end which the seller stated on the advert. Just wondering if anybody could tell me what specific parts i would need to replace, the piston needs replacing and the cylinder is badly scored. Any help would be much appreciated, particularly a place where engine parts are available, prefferably in the Leeds/Wakefield area. Thanks

Hello! I am new in the world of trial so i need to learn a lot. I have just purchased 2003 315r for and it is so much fun to ride. What I have noticed during my first few rides is that radiator fan is running a lot. This means that soon after sturtup it starts running and is runing more or less the whole time. The bike doesn`t owerheat yet, but I don`t know what will happen in a summer months. Is this normal? I have checked coolant and it`s ok. Radiator is not blocked. I am riding mostly tails in 3rd, 4th gear, so I gues wind mooving trough the radiator should cool the engine enough to switch of the fan. Here is allsoa few pics of my new machine!

Well I've finally treated myself to a 2004 315R which cost me £800. (Hope that's reasonable) Never done trials before so mid life crisis purchase ... I've given the bike a full service and check over and the only things it needs are front wheel bearings and new grips so I'm pleased there were no nasty surprises. I do have a question which I hope someone can answer. There is a rubber tube which exits the inside of the left frame rail about half way down, under the petrol tank. I can't trace where it goes so I'm not sure if its a breather or if it meant to be connected to something around the carb. Can anyone help? Also the little tube which loops around the carb is mis…

Whilst looking over a later (2002) 315 at a recent trial, I noticed that it had a 2 piston front caliper as opposed to my 1998s single piston. My questions are. 1. Has anybody swapped to a 2 piston from a single? 2. How easy ( was it just a caliper change or did you have to swap discs etc 3. Would the caliper from a Honda CR Motocross bike from the same era fit (1998)? 4. If anyone has a 2002 on 315R what is the measurement between the mounting holes? Thanks and bring on the answers...!

Hi I just bought older ym. 2001 315R from my friend. I serviced it today and noticed that under the mudguard where the airfilter is there`s a screw that in my believe is the adjuster for rear suspension. I tried to adjust it, but although it seems to be in good conditions Im not able to adjust it either way. Is there a trick to do this or what might be the problem?

Hey Guys: I'm looking at a 315R as the bike to get back into the sport on.... I'm not too fussed on the bike year at the moment - unless somebody can give me any pointers on a good year to look at? From what I've seen - it looks like the head angle may have got a little slacker from 2002 onwards?...is this correct? If so - are the earlier bikes a little more trick to ride? Any advice/chat on what to consider/year on year developments would be appreciated.... Cheers.... ...if anybody knows any good bikes available too.....?

Hi All New here, please treat me gently I am about (possibly) to purchase a 315r. I want to establish the year before putting in an offer. I read on a few threads that the age can easily be disguised with new graphics, but the frame number does not lie. My question is: how do you identify the year from the frame number? My other questions (less important): Is there any important differences between different years? The clutch drags but is cleared with a quick blip of the throttle. I have read about various clutch related problems on this board with general consensus being that new oil and maybe clutch plates are needed. Is there anything else to worry about here? …

The title about sums it up, was having a quick check of the airfilter earlier and on the airbox top (snorkel?) there are 2 vents. One of these had a chunk of regular foam in blocking off one side. Is this a mod/normal or has the foam come from somewhere else in that region?? I am puzzled as on the other off-road bikes I have had I have always strived to get lots of air in quickly and this reduces the intake by 50% I looked in the manual, but there doesn't seem to be anything like it there. Any light to shed you guys?? Ged

Hi, i've got a 315r 2002 and have a little bit of a prob with the carb, a Dellorto standard unit. When the bike has been stood for a week and it is started on choke, it revs crazy high. If you knock the choke off immediately and rev it for a short while its gets you over the problem. If you turn the motor off for say 3 hours and start it on choke, it fast idles like it should on choke, no problems (bike maybe still slightly warm). I took the choke lever with brass piston attached out to inspect and found nothing untoward down the bore. The next day the bike then started perfectly from cold on choke and i thought the fault had dissapeared at last. However after using the …
