I ran many bike with the shifter setup like yours shakennstirred, I notice that it is '' harder '' on the casing if you are not careful when upshifting.

I've owned a few A model and tried to replace the Teikie with a VM Mikuni. I never had the exact result I was expecting. If you change, look at the OKO, I've only read good thing about them.

C'mon Dan, I think the rabbit's out of the hat, you do R&D for Beta !!!!!!!!

I agree with faussy, and I would go the extra $ on a Yamaha piston kit, put good oil in it and sleep on it for a loooong time.
Guy

You have to know that with the '' trail '' kit came a bracket to move the footrest forward

You don't have to take the swing arm off the bike to replace the brake lever off but it' a good idea to take it off and check if it's not rusted in place and grease it

I cleaned a few muffler by burning them, but I never '' played '' with the baffle, I have a couple on the shelve coming from different basket case I bought a few years back. That's why my comment started by I don't think.
Good luck with the cylinder, I will quote a famous personnage again : '' Patience my friend, happy you will be when work is done ''.

I don't think you can burn the tail pipe.

About noise, I had just rebuild a D model, on start up it was crazy noisy. Lucky for me, I always use a lot of 2 stroke oil when I reassemble a cylinder. I noticed that the baffle ( the last piece of the exhaust ) was not '' smocking '' very much, but most of the smoke came from the joint between the muffler and the baffle, cleaned it and voila, normal sound

I do agree with copemech that they are '' noisy '', also Nikasil ? What piston are you going to use ? I'm sure there is a cheaper and more standard way to fix your problem.
Guy

Look like the sleeve as been changed and they '' matched '' the new one with the cylinder

You are right about the 311 piston, and yes they are a little heavier than the 434, but the modification is easy to do and I have not notice any difference in performance in 2 bikes that I use them on. I posted a picture a while back of the 2 piston side by side.

It depend on the state off the sleeve

Thank's for the reply
I have a little experience with bike, but I know very little about Gas Gas, I've seen a few picture off frames with crack, what about some with a red cylinder head ?
Guy

I'm going to look at a 2009 250, anything I should be aware ? Is there a problem with the frame ( crack )? or anything else ?

You have to give them credit, it's kind of one part fits all

If you have a few days to spare, I can tell you story that will keep you awake laughing for months

Look at the parts list avalable online, you will see what is missing
Guy

About that swing arm, anybody remember the Kawasaki '' foobar '' road racer in the 70's ?
Guy

Don't forget, you don't change the oil, run it around the backyard for 10 minute and decide. Changing type of oil take '' sinking time '' to show it's quality.
Guy
-
I'm not sure about the way that line is setup
Guy
-
From what I can see, that is not a TY rear wheel.
