  1. Big thanks to all involved. The Wobbler
  2. Gents, Thanks for the info - my confusion came from the fact that its been running with a B5PES which has a slightly longer reach. it all seems OK and I just wondered what effect the shorter(correct) plug might have (As these also fit my 240 Fantic). My bike is one of the very last 247's 1979 and I don't know if they differed from the early ones..... Triple X glad to know the electronic ignition is going OK ....You must let me know what Sammy Miller & Twinshock Championships you're doing as I'd like to have a go & check the difference... Cheers as always The Wobbler
  3. sorry just to clarify I have a BP5ES in at the minute but on NGK 's web site it suggests a B6HS for a 247 and a BP5ES for a 248 - it has always had a BP5ES in which I think is a slightly longer reach ?? Any help is appreciated As always The Wobbler
  4. Can any one please confirm the correct NGK Plug for a 1979 Montesa 247 Cota I seem to get either a B5HS or a B6HS ??? Any thoughts on an iridium tipped plug in it ?? Cheers for now As Always The Wobbler
  5. Gents , Thanks for that so far Axul SUV - Thanks for the pics - I think my manifold looks the same !! - I see i'll need to get a bend on the cable and maybe tap the exhaust in a bit !! I think the fact that the original 240 had a 25mm Dellorto and im' using a 26mm that goes with the 243 might be part of the reason. I'll try canting it over a little when everythings in place. Motopelli - Thanks for that on the Kill switch - I thought so but confirmation is always good. Any other advice will be gratefully accepted. Cheers again. The Wobbler.
  6. Gents, just looking for a bit of help !! I'm finally getting my act together and I've got my 243 (212cc) engine into my 240 frame . I have a couple of problems - I seem to have no clearance between the Carb - 26mm Dellorto and the exhaust - Have I got the right Cylinder > Carb Manifold on ?? do I need a 90 degree adapter ??. Can anyone confirm how and where I should run the throttle cable It has a clutch lightener on - where shall I run the clutch cable Lastly - I have some wires for the ignition - Could you confirm which ones are for a kill switch !!! I've attached some photos - Any pictures of your own set ups would be a great help !! Many thanks The Wobbler
  7. Steve, it a pity that as I enjoyed the Moffat one a great deal ... Hope to catch up soon - You heading to Alvie....... Cheers The Wobbler
  8. Great Trial ...... Thanks very much to all the organisers The Wobbler !!!!
  9. Tam, Any dates for this year - I don't really want to miss out ..... Cheers The Wobbler
  10. Well said Highland Lassie - I think he was on about "Golf Clubs" last I heard....... ..Hope the weather's great this year as you all deserve a great week Cheers As always The Wobbler
  11. Although all "tongue in cheek" there was definitely no malice attached to any of these posts............I apologise to any one who we offended .....If he'd got an entry I would have made only my 3rd trip to the SSDT - the other two being one occasion riding in the 90's and one watching Bing......... I hope all the riders have a great week and some one deserving wins the over 50's award !!!! - I for one know it would be too much for me and I'm not quite 50 yet (contrary to popular belief)....... Cheers and good luck to you all in the SSDT 2014 as always The Wobbler
  12. ]Found this of my Old mates Rupert & Chris Kimber at The Mel Harrison in 2012 ....... For those who all fancy a go - this is what the top boys are capable of - well worth going to see a British Championship Sidecar event if you can Cheers As Always The Wobbler. check out the sidecar trials face book page for more photos......
  13. Gary, The nearest will probably be Yorkshire - Unless the Isle of man is closer. The best suggestion I can give you is to get your outfit sorted and take it to a club trial for a ride around - on an outfit even the basics are a nightmare. If you enjoy it take yourself to a british championship round - have a weekend away (and a few beers) enter the "Newcomers" class and have a ride round - if you try some sections all good - if not You'll see what can be done and meet some of the friendliest people in trialing. If you get the bug-the rest will follow on. Good luck and Cheers The Wobbler- I was the Monkey in the chair...........
  14. Happy New Year to Tam and all the Twinshock/pre 65ers. I'd like to think I can get a few of your trials in this Year so if you could give me an idea of any provisional dates i'll pencil them in so as not to get double booked. I might even try and bring a few of the boys with me !!!!! Cheers As Always The Wobbler
  15. Grib- thanks again for your help-they're a good start Cheers The Wobbler
  16. Fantic Guru's, I just need a bit of help - I've added an 80 air cooled mono to the stable - similar to the one pictured below ...except normal 32mm forks and non reservoir rear shock. I could do with any manuals etc as I need 1- Fork oil capacities 2 - Gearbox oil capacities An in depth parts diagram would be ideal ..... Has anyone uprated the suspension so it will take a 12 stone adult ???? Thanks in advance for any help As always the wobbler
  17. You are both right -He survived the trial althought the true SSDT style weather nearly killed us all...........We then adjurned to the pub....His comeback is still on track and we are just hoping that his is the first name out of the ballot ................ then all of his sponsors , friends & co competitors can really up their support !!!!! Bring on May- I've booked my holidays. Stevie -hope to catch you at trial up your way soon - keep me informed. Cheers
  18. We are also looking for some photo's to build up his portfolio - anything from Schoolboy days on wards would be a massive help - so if you have any please pin them up and confirm if we are OK to use them ..... Thanks again The Wobbler PR man for "Team Bingo 2014"........
  19. As this is my first venture into the world of PR - I have now corrected our statement........ If Bingo does in fact get in then we will be pushing forward with some great ideas for a memorable week in the Highlands - with a lot of Northern Centre regulars already on board to help out. The fact that Gary will be 50 makes this no mean feat - he seems to think he can turn the clock back to being a Sandiford B Class schoolboy in no time !!!!! Oh and Bingo you're in trouble if Steve Saunders rides !!!! - He'll just whip you again - & I bet he doesn't look as knackered at the end of the day......... I'll keep you updated once the ballot is confirmed - we're already building his facebook page and thinking about him doing some training videos on U Tube .... Any advice or help would be much appreciated ....... A number near Dougie and a few of the good lads would be great as at least we could watch some quality riders whilst waiting for the "Warhorse" !!! And thanks for the kind comment Mick ....Hope you'll be joining in helping him along...... Yours on behalf of Gary " Bingo" Bingley (I have a signed PR contract even though he might have been intoxicated) The Wobbler !!!!!
  20. Having had his entry into the Ballot for the 2014 SSDT confirmed - Gary "Bingo" Bingley is to make a welcome return to the sport with his main aim being winning th ssdt 2014 over 50 award (as he's 50 in February). This will all be for charity -and he is starting his new fitness regime this weekend with some altitude training in the alps. Please give him all the encouragement we can and watch out for more details - He'll hopefully be back on a bike at the Cumberland Clubs New Years Day Trial. Thanks for now. The Wobbler Gary Bingo's PR GURU
  21. I must apologise as my comment sounded negative !!! I've almost packed in riding a modern bike & really enjoy the classic / twinshock scene - I just wish I was more mechanically minded as when you see some of the bikes - being a good engineer and an average rider seems to work much better than just being an average rider !!!!! Go and buy a 340 and enjoy - I thought I would be able to ride a 247 Mont better than I could 32 years ago - How wrong could I be !!!! As always The Wobbler
  22. Believe me - That old bike you had is not as good as you remember ...... The only comparison I can give for a Modern bike is - Getting off a thoroughbred racehorse and onto a carthorse the plows fields - then expecting it to keep up with the racehorse !!!! Fantastic crack in the classic world - you just forget how far bikes have come on ....... Enjoy As Always The Wobbler
  23. I've put a 26mm Mikuni onto my 247 and runs fine way better than with the old Amal on. Mine came from John at the Twinshock Shop already jetted - just put it on and it was great. I've also dealt with in motion and had great service from them too so I would recommend either. i'd thought about trying to get a second hand one and re jetting it etc - But I don't really think it's worth the hassle unless you're on a really tight budget. As always The Wobbler
  24. My answer was slightly tongue in cheek - just turn it - if you notice a difference report back !!!! if not keep quiet and say you did !!!! secondly - get some tyre levers and change it yourself - It's a good experience !!! Cheers The wobbler

    Fantic 240/300

Any chance of some pictures as you go along - especially the right hand lower frame tube mod (& cutting dimensions etc) as I have a 240 frame in build at the minute that I would like to get modded so I can drop a 301/303 engine straight in at a later date. Cheers The Wobbler
